Thanks again for all the unbiased information. You had asked me to tell you how the open-box a90k you had recommended on the channel earlier was working once I received the unit. I can honestly say it exceeds my expectations after having watched 4k blu rays, gaming on my 3090, and gaming on my ps5/series X, that it is truly spectacular, and I still am baffled about getting a unit for almost half off MSRP. Thank you again! Keep up the great informative work!

Strangely I don't have access to some of the settings you have under Game Mode such as: Game HDR, Game Motion Plus settings, HDR Tone Mapping, Under Picture Mode I only have Graphic or Enterntainment. I do have Game mode, HDR10+ Gaming and Auto HDR re-master (doesn't disable under Game mode). Under Gammer I only have BT 1886 and 2.2. Is there anything you did to enable the other settings? Also, we had to cut fios, way too much compression and pixelation - found youtube tv surprisingly much better pic quality, and then also using native apps for streaming regular or 4K content using youtube tv as the provider for very best picture quality - fire stick max 4k etc also compressed the video too much

@@footstepsandadventures yep. You need to play something with hdr content for it to activate. I played an hdr video off TH-cam and I could then access the settings, although it seems to automatically activate to Active when hdr content is detected. The hard bit was trying to figure out how to open the tv settings without stopping the content playing. To do this on my tv I held down the button with the 4 colors (where you can change tv channel by typing in the channel number) and then I could access the tv settings from there without the content stopping playing. Choose either Movie or Filmmaker Mode. These two profiles are the most accurate on the TV. Apply the Same settings to Game Mode in SDR and HDR but turn off all tone mapping from you TV and the game. Set the maximum HDR luminance to 1000 nits and do not exceed it.

QN90B 85 at that price is really good but it will get even cheaper in a few weeks if your targeting that wait. But games that rely on the moronic W11 settings for HDR... don't work and couldn't figure out why. I'm sure there is a work around to this because the driver is more than capable as Horizon Zero Dawn works without issues - when the game is running it shows as 'Freesync HDR' under HDR.

    • @TechWithKG
      @TechWithKG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

I’d say 42 C2 it’s got a better stand too that you can tuck things under. 43 qn90c isn’t awful but viewing angles suffer so if you ever have to have it an angle or you move your head a bit you’ll notice. The only thing that might bother you with the C2 is sustained brightness at the max it can’t really do it full screen bright windows it will dim down.

    • @barryjones2366
      @barryjones2366 ปีที่แล้ว

For PC I would never use an OLED.......with static objects on all the time. That's why I bought the 43QN90B and it's been very good, viewing angles are bad (but fine if you're not fussy and only sit in the centre on your computer chair) but contrast is enhanced over the bigger models because it doesn't have the wide viewing angle layer and it's clearer too. I don't think there is better out there except maybe the Neo G7/8 but they are 32" curved display (with bad viewing angles) but have even more dimming zones and it can get brighter too but both have issues with getting a nice contrasty picture without too much shadow detail getting erased or brightness getting too high ruining your contrast. The 90B is much easier to get right I believe since all you need to do is make it less bright here and there. I'm not sure how to correct the shadow detail problem of the Neo G7/8 maybe if you raise brightness/black level, i'm not sure. Hope that helps, no other LCD TV will give you this kind of contrast and best of all no burn-in worry. Oh, the 43QN90C won't have any issues with getting nice contrast since it has a Static Tone Mapping option now, but I think you still need to adjust the mid brightness down a bit like KG said, it improves the picture even more which means great shadow detail and contrast (accuracy) with very little changing of the settings compared to the 43QN90B. Samsung really should update it to make it so you don't have to adjust any brightness settings to make it look it's best.

By the way you're almost spot on with your settings but i've had 2 s95b calibrated by different stores realised what they did. Unfortunately I can't share 2/20 Point WB settings since those are unique to each Panel.
Choose either Movie or Filmmaker Mode. These two profiles are the most accurate on the TV.
    SDR:
    Brightness: 34
    Contrast: 45
    Sharpness: 0
    Color: 25
    Tint: 0
    Contrast Enhancer: 0
    Color Balance: Warm2
    Gamma: BT.1886 at 0
    Color Space: Native
    Peak Brightness: Medium
Native color space is only accurate under SDR. Auto under SDR is inaccurate. Peak brightness should be at medium for accuracy sake. The monitor should now be at 200nits.
    HDR:
    Brightness: 50
    Contrast: 50
    Sharpness: 0
    Color: 25
    Tint: 0
    Contrast Enhancer: 0
    Color Balance: Warm2
    Gamma: ST.2084 at 0
    Color Space: AUTO
    Peak Brightness: High
Apply the Same settings to Game Mode in SDR and HDR but turn off all tone mapping from you TV. Set the maximum HDR luminance to 1000 nits and do not exceed it. This tv can do 941 nits at 10% window so going any higher than 1000 nits doesn't really make sense.

ADS panel on 55” 65” 75” most likely VA on 43” 50” and 85”. It’s similar to the way the QN85B was but the QN90C has the ultra viewing angle it’ll be interesting how this changes how it does with hands on reviews in 2023.

@@dougspry6278 It is the same ADS panel they have been using in the QN85B QN85A QN80B QN80A same ADS panel made by BOE. Do some research on ADS and you will see the pixels are the same.

Samsung have completely broken this in a recent update. It was clipping at 1700nits, now it’s up to 4000nits. Basic HGIG clips higher than Advanced. It’s the usual Samsung BS, TV just gets worse with every update.

Why even care about lcd tech anymore

Because it does not have burn ins. Check Rtings for the updated burn ins test, and maybe you might change your mind. OLED are great TV but QLED are great too just that one is better in one environment and the other in another environment. However, overall QLED tip OLED for all environments. Now, if we're talking about QD-OLED with pic quality, then that's something different.

@@ownerr8441 with QD oled the brightness issue isn't really a issue anymore.

@Andre QD-OLED is brighter for sure but still burn in risk and that's one of the main issues for OLED in general, not forgetting that it degrades over time because of the nature of OLED.
