fun fact: because the infinite sided die is infinite, it's perfectly smooth and therefore friction-less. therefore it will never stop rolling after thrown, unless another force interacts with it.
if there would be no friction it wouldn't rotate it would move like an ice. There is a force and its smaller than normal shapes but there is still a friction and it would stop some point
I like that they were wondering if they could get some side stories of Ford’s time in the portal, and the journal 3 book is sitting on the table and don’t even know what lies within.
6:28 oh god. Legit that episode few of my friends were with me during that time and yelled WOW. Reason was for this. In 2007 wizards of the coast (company that owns dnd and also magic the gathering) released dnd 4th edition. At first the idea when the rules mentioned sound good but when playing through them, mechanics, spells honestly to most ppl if was okay but for me I hated 4th. I played 3.5 and was a Druid in that version of dnd. Specialize in wild shaping and elemental aoe spells and loved to plan out how my spells work accordingly and the limitation with the strong spells only good for 1 day/session in dnd 3.5. 4th came and it was say example a sorcerer/wizard “magic missle, magic muscle, magic missle, burning hands, magic missle, lighting storm , magic missle (repeat rotation)” and for ppl that didn’t get it basically 4th mechanics and spell system is basically a mmo on paper with spell rotation. At that time I played WoW and dnd and both had its own distinct styles but when I played 4th immediately I knew it was mmo spell rotations (if don’t know spell Rotation is basically damage per second order to get efficient damage on target) on paper and hated it. Thank god pathfinder released and it was basically dnd 3.7.5 edition with later dnd releasing 5th edition and fixed some bs from 4th. Side thing why I hated 4th was also they screwed over a lot of lore building for Eberron and forgotten realms campaign setting. Especially forgotten realms since that’s popular since the 80s and ppl got pissed.
In theory you could make a near-infinity sided dice using a ball with an embedded 360 display connected to a Bluetooth program that selects random numbers and symbols. But it would be limited by the size of the database.
It has infinite possibilities for sides, but not all are shown at once. If it was infinitely sided, it probably wouldn't be in the shape of just a sphere. All spheres end at some point.
Unfortunately, Alex Hirsch has never played D&D and, by his own admission, doesn't really get it. And it kinda shows. Fun episode, but it clearly has no idea what D&D is.
If you haven't, I strongly suggest you check Neckbeardia's youtube channel. It focuses on a lot of D&D tales, but I personally recommend reading/listening to the following; The tale of Old Man Henderson (Call of C'thulhu, but still legendary) Shoggy the Seldom Dog (and the All Guardsman Party (Dark Heresy)). The All Skeleton Party (the DM is 'Guardbro' on reddit and he takes over the story from entry 4 onward. Ongoing tale.) Everything by this glorious nutter. www.reddit.com/user/FelixLaVulpe/
I have been watching the Blindwave Tabletop RPG videos lately and I would absolutely love to see you guys play D&D or a type of pen and paper adventure.
Technically, you can make d-any dice, though some are harder to make, and not lot of them are easily trustable to be fair dice. For example, d-10 is usually two cones, each cut to have 5 triangular sides. You can use that to make any even-sided dice, so d-38 is relatively easy to make. Notice that in the episode, the d-38 looks like d-12 and d-20 alternatingly. Some companies use math / computer simulation / extensive testing to make any-sided dice, where the sides are different shapes and by math or testing they reach wierd-shaped dice that are sufficiently fair. Also, 2-sided dice is coin (as long as it can't land on edge), and 3-sided dice is also coin but with thick edge that has equal chance to be landed on as each side does. You have to make a few and test them to find the fairest :D
So Stanford was like moving in dimensions while he was sucked in the machine. This reminds me of professor paradox from ben 10 who could time travel after undergoing an accident same as stanford (getting sucked into a portal).
7:10 oh it exists. Basically just have a smartphone app, connect to a database with 999999999+ possibilities when you tap or type roll and be prepared for any chaos that it tells you on number you get. Get a 40799: your character head explodes. Get: 7494874: feet rips off its own and walks away. Get 00000001: instant delete character and so on. Though do recommend watch a rollplay show called diekea where rules they use is adjusted fate accelerated with mutant roll table changes and have a good laugh on abilities or things happen in that show.
0:16: Great, I can't wait for him to point out the flaws and pointers in the game, D&D, that's not gonna get annoying at all. 😑 Which I'm glad, he didn't, btw. I love seeing TheNormies smile and laugh once In a while, it warms my heart to see them enjoy this show. ☺
This thing appears to be written by someone who never played D&D, or thought THAC0 was too complicated. You don't need to be a math whiz to play D&D. My math skills are abysmal. I failed out of the lowest caliber math course in college (as in, I did not pass a single test), and I needed to work hard to earn a "C-" in a remedial summer course. And I had no difficulty at all understanding AD&D 2nd edition rules when I played it in Middle School.
Durland's comment towards LARPing during the credits felt a little shallow. Live-Action Roleplay, especially when acting out a fantasy story, can be rather rewarding. You meet new people, gain confidence, develop friendships/relationships, gain inspiration for other things (some might use LARPing to help gain story ideas.) But most of all, playing as your character helps you develop (mentally, spiritually and emotionally) in ways you probably couldn't in the regular world. How do I know this, the documentary on Darkon has people talk about how they've had severe self-confidence issues or felt unfulfilled in life. So, roleplay helps make life more adventurous for them and slightly more rewarding

Then 5 seconds later, Dipper says to Ford “I’ve read all about these guys in your journal!”
Stan: I'll mock all I want! It's MY TV room!
Ford: It's my HOUSE!

My favourite episode in the entire show. So many nerd jokes and parodying the fanbase of this show.
