    i love basic transportations and budget cars.
    there's nothing in between me and my driving. no steering volume thingy, land departure, no sound warning at everything, and the bloody thing turning off my engine.
    just me and my driving.
    also small engines are fun to drive, you can rev them up high and it won't break the speed limit/law.
    also parts are cheaper, cheaper to maintain, uses less gasoline, so you can drive further and more.
    lovely.

    • @KekeeBlack
      @KekeeBlack 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Parts are NOT cheap homie. Also they are never in stock at auto parts stores. I have to wait a day every time I forget to order something off RockAuto a week in advance, unlike an F150 or a Civic. The electrical systems are very sensitive so any sensors have to be OEM. The stock parts DO last though, I’ve heard of people getting 120k miles on the OEM brake pads! There was one with a CVT that lasted 280k+ miles.
      I have discovered recently that I can get higher gas mileage, more range on fill ups and way better acceleration by getting pure gas and not E10. I hear less clatter on idle too. I think it cleaned out my fuel injectors. Try it and you will fall in love with your car all over again!

    Finally someone who understands what the Mirage (Space Star in our continent) is all about. I have now 70.000 miles in my Mirage CVT. Not a single defect in 8 years of use. Not ONE defect. Not even a light bulb broke. All is still rattle free, zero oil consumption and 60 mpg. Why? what was made, was made well, engine has no turbo, is simple, not stressed, indirect port injection, so no carbon build up, and the car is light, so no mechanical stress on axles, suspension elements and brakes. And the CVT gets an oil cooler (contary to Nissan who uses the same CVT's). They will last much longer in Mitsubishis therefore. High temperatures is killing Nissan's CVT's.

    Great review. This is why you have become my favorite car reviewer. You understand what the car is and what it is intended for and don’t expect it to be anything but that. Yes there will always be cars that punch above their class, but this car never pretends to do that. My mother in law has a 2019 and it’s the “fully loaded” one with heated seats and nice wheels, and I love taking it on long trips. Is it fast? Hell no. But it rides well, is spacious, and will return 37+ mpg’s doing 80mph the whole time with the air on. It’s reliable and simple without many things to break. It’s an affordable car that will be affordable to maintain and affordable to drive. Need new tires? Cheap. Need new brakes? Cheap. I drove a 2015 hatch for 7+ years and was hard on it the whole time, never broke or even sputtered one time.

When gas was hitting $4.89 here in FL, $32 max and i get a full tank that i average 330 miles on. Horsepower is not really a issue as for ive never had a problem merging onto a highway. I started driving in the era of cheap Japanese cars with manual transmissions. Think of early Reagan years. 😆 While I haven't driven a G4, I wouldn't turn my nose up at one if I needed a cheap second car. I'm sure it would be fine if it had the 5-speed. It would probably seem downright luxurious compared to the old 80s cars I drove. Actually, the Mirage seems kind of nostalgic for me. Reminds me of the simple cheap cars us "dazed and confused" generation drove when we were young. It was all about freedom and not breaking us on a payment or gas. I hate to see cars like that disappear.

  • @edgaryzen4925
    @edgaryzen4925 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I have the Mitsubishi Mirage. Bought it brand new this year and now it has 5k miles so far. Here is my takes:
    IMO yes the brand new Mirage is especially worth it over any used car as an *** affordable BASIC mode of transportation *** aka going from point A to B. Thats it. New Kia Rio and Nissan Versa fill this purpose as well.
    The Mirage has been proven to be honest, economical, dependable and simple to drive globally since 2013.
    Mitsubishi Motor, from my point of view, has no plan to discontinue the Mirage in the future (at least model year 2023) as it helps meet CAFE goal AND the fact that there is virtually no competition left in America. The AFFORDABLE subcompact sedan segment is being endangered from it existence. Just Kia Rio, this, and Nissan Versa. That's it.
    Toyota, Honda, Hyundai and Chevrolet had left this segment for good which is a tad shame.
    Like Zack Pradel had said in the review, the Mirage is a "people car" (old term) like how Ford Model T and Volkswagen Beetle intended at the time; Simple and basic mode of transportation = far less thing to go wrong over the course of ownership compare to car with complex electronic. That how I can easily appreciate this car especially for the $.
    Now...
    **** Heed my warnings below for you prospective owner/buyer******
    If you for example...
    Need/want lots of horse power or torque to pass other cars instantly? This car is not for you. (This can go uphill no problem)
    Want/need luxury or modern features i.e. adaptive cruise control, leather seats, dual climate control, wireless charger, etc? This is not for you. (The only nice features it has are Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, SiriusXM, and automatic climate control)
    Want/need solid well-built car like the Corolla/Civic? This car is not for you.
    Need/want infotainment system? This is not for you.
    Very sensitive to road noise and feel? This car is not for you.
    Want/need sporty handling? This car is not for you.
    Expect Sony/JBL/Bose sound system quality? This car is not for you.
    Want/need resale value being high as Toyota Corolla? This car is not for you.
    Want/need large fuel tank as 14 gallons? This car is not for you.
    Need/want 3 adults to fit the rear seats comfortably? This won't work.
    Need/want RWD, AWD or 4x4? This is not for you HOWEVER do note that winter tires especially being skinny work really well, according to Canadian Mirage review.
    ***Lastly, and this is important to know***
    There are at least 300 Mitsubishi dealerships across the nation which are objectively lacking compared to its competitors. Gotta wonder how you can take it to them for service and parts.
    That's all I have to say here about my takes on my BRAND NEW Mirage.

    • @dickmelsonlupot7697
      @dickmelsonlupot7697 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the good thing about the Mirage is that it's not that hard to fix or maintain.
      you don't exactly need to go to the dealership for any PMS or whatever maintenance, you can basically just go anywhere and if possible, try to get ORIGINAL or on par or better parts from other reputable manufacturers like Bosch, Wix, AC Delco, etc.

    The hatchback's has a cargo room that is much more vertical. We found it actually held more when we did the test at the dealer. We bought the hatchback because of that, and the fact that you can put the seats down for even more made it more valuable. At 6ft, I found that I actually had more room in the rear seat than when we actually sat in the Outlander Sport at the dealership. (Nice ride with the Sport though.) That was awkward to find out about the space in the rear seats. I am very happy with the Mirage we got the 2022 Mitsubishi Mirage ES with CVT. I am really happy with how awesomely it handles as well. I was worried about that until I drove it because I was seeing people still copy pasting reviews from the 2014 Mirage which was a super spongy suspension. We have 0 issues as well getting up to speed and even passing people on the highway. I did install sound dampening materials for road noise as that is the only issue we had after testing it. (Floor and roof sound insulation fixed all issues with sound we had.) Highway MPG has been 44-52mpg with cvt and 5 passengers 3 of which were kids. Also, it exceeded my expectations, which were kind of low, in snow traction. It actually does amazing in snow which blew my mind.

    I swear by the Mitsubishi Mirage. I have driven both my hatchback as well as this model between New Jersey and Alabama for business purposes. Once I eve averaged over 64 miles per gallon. What other gas-powered car do you know of that can do THAT? I LOVE them. With a government business mileage reimbursement rate of 56 cents per gallon it has paid itself off multiple times. I currently have 160,000 miles on mine. Do the maths: That's $89,600 in mileage reimbursements for a car that originally had an MSRP of $12,500, though I paid $16,000 for mine because I added some options. One thing you forgot to mention was the stock sound system sounds much better than many much more expensive cars! Great for those long cross-country drives. Also, since 2014, nothing has happened significantly mechanically except for oil changes and brake shoe replacements. Once I had the muffler bolted on better to tightener it up. These cars seem to run forever! Once I hit a very bad pothole that blew up my tyre and threw off my suspension. The re-alignment, balancing and new tyre all together cost me $180! Try doing that with another car! lol

    You could take a gamble on a used car off Craigslist that may or may not be reliable or you could buy a new Mirage with a solid engine and a long warranty. It's cheap, efficient, reliable transportation and doesn't need to be any more than that. It serves a purpose and it's pretty decent at it. I've heard that with some suspension mods these handle surprisingly well. It's funny how small the wheels are though, any smaller and they'd belong on a motorcycle. The BMW i3 is the same way.

    You can also get better gas mileage and better HP by putting E0 gas in them. The octane doesn’t even matter, they run better without ethanol. Change the oil every 5,000 miles religiously and get the CVT serviced if you have one. They are GOOD cars.

    Any modern sedan below the compact car segment looks so bad. The Ford Fiesta sedan is probably my least favorite car if all time. These cars looked designed as hatchbacks and forced to be sedans.

      But subcompact cars are livable

      It wouldn't look too bad in a 3 door coupe model with a bit of ralliart products on it but then again what do mitsubishi care about us

    • @damilolaakanni
      @damilolaakanni 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Mitsubishi doesn't care what you think. I know it has been said a lot of times, but it's true. If they did, they'll bring back the Lancer to compete with the Honda Civic, or the Montero to compete with the 4runner.

      @@edgaryzen4925 Err they aren't exactly livable. Subcompacts dominate the least safe cars list. Fiesta is number one. The Versa, Korean cars, Chevy Spark and Sonic, Fiat 500. Stats show you have a good chance of not living.
      But no doubt you mean as a economic sense? Sure I can agree. But safety aside they are just really impractical sometimes. And very ugly to most buyers.
      I think the Ford Fiesta hatch was the best looker in the segment when it was still here. But all of them were obviously deisgned for other markets without America in mind.
      I sat in a Fiesta and at only 5'8 130 pounds at the time, it was a very dreadful car.
      I do wish we had more cheap cars but most people will just pay the same price for a new Subcompact to buy a slightly used compact car with better safety and more space.

    Mitsubishi could stop making mirages and bring back the lancer or better. Or make the mirage's engine bigger like a 1.2L Base model and middle line 1.5L and top line 2.0L. Then their SUVs should bring back a V6 variant.

    I like the front and middle lateral lines of the 2022 Mirage sedan. However I find the rear lines lacking harmony and resolution with the curves and general shape of the other parts of the vehicle.

    Mitsubishi makes cars cheaply. This mirage looks cheaper than the discontinued Toyota Yaris. Years ago, a car reviewer said it was the worst cheap small car you can buy. It has since improved a little bit

    I had a.new Mitsubishi in 1988, and it was a high-quality efficient car. The current Mirage is an embarassment.
