- Simone graced my porch with her presence this morning to confirm there was no bad blood between us. She also probably startled Biggie who was enjoying a well-deserved nap, as is her custom. Don't fret, Biggie can take care of herself.

Thank you Patrick for keeping a source of water available for the wildlife. I know they all appreciate it very much. Bears, possums, neighborhood cats, raccoons, birds, squirrels, whatever. It's so important during warm weather for all animals to have access to fresh water.

I noticed he had a rock that sat high enough in the tub in case a small animal, such as chipmunk or squirrel fell in while getting a drink they had a way to get out.

Sweet Simone just resting on your porch. I can’t even begin to imagine what it’s like to have a bear sitting so comfortably on your and you open the door and come out. She has a lot of respect for you. I think she would have wanted some seeds though. She’s so smart that she knows and then on top of it your pet is out and Simone doesn’t even bother it. Amazing 😯
I think Simone was concerned when she didn't see Patrick in his usual spot on the porch. She was looking in the window to make sure he was alright. 🐾💕

last time I saw Simone she was with her 2 cubs.
They were very large though, and walking the balance beam to get bird seed on the porch... They actually gotten old enough to where Simone just waited and let them knock down the bird seed for her..
So they grew up and went on their own way?

@@BuffaloNickel9 One male and one female. Black bears usually emancipate their cubs after they are a little over a year so they can mate. They don't always mate after their cubs are gone but most do. The male cubs tender to wander off significantly more than the females, even several states away from their home.

She is such a good girl, we all have our days, good and bad.
As long as she feels safe she doesn't mean any harm. Sitting outside the door she was begging so politely for some birdseed and she got her hopes up when Patrick opened the door but when he says No she backs off right away. I felt so sorry for her wallking away with her head hanging. Maybe Biff, as fat as he is, is eating everything available in the woods.

She has no fear of you and would easily settle on your property in her safety zone, as long as you do not approach or touch her. She becomes so peacefully curious of human environment! You have a kind of relationship with her where the boundaries between wild and man are disappearing. A bear of two worlds in a way.
Simone is adorable and this is a precious moment. By all appearances, Simone is making amends for her moody outburst in her last visit. She is completely in "I'm your good dog" mode. 😄💓💓💓

If Asheville is part of the heatwave we’re having in the lower half of the country, that only compounds her irritability of being hangry and having a skin problem, e.g., fleas, etc. Poor girl. Yes, a small pool in the shade sounds good, with some frozen grapes on which to nosh!
Most animals worlds are very small. If you own a dog or cat they love you. You’re their everything. Patrick you’ve become part of the bear’s world. Animals know kindness.

I agree with some of the others. Simone doesn't look very well. If she could talk, it looks like she's asking for help. I wish there were some way you could find out if there really is something wrong with her. I would hate to see something happen to her. She's such a sweet bear.

I think the heat has a lot to do with it.
Don't worry about Simone, she's fine. Patrick consulted with bear experts in the area, and she doesn't have mange. They felt it might be a flea allergy or something similar. It probably itches, causing her to scratch her back against a tree. That's what makes her fur look a bit rough. Patrick posted about this in an earlier video.

I’m not sure why anyone thought her behavior had been “moody”, “bad”, “rude”, etc. She was obviously unnerved and unsure that day about why Patrick wasn’t in his usual spot. She was huffing, which can indicate surprise or fear. She seemed frightened.

Mais étant donné l’excellente formation que vous lui avez donné comme ajout à sa memoire, elle a analysé sa mémoire photographique durant la nuit. Ce qui lui a sûrement causé de l’insomnie comme nous. C’est votre localisation qui ne coïncidait pas avec la prise de vue de sa mémoire.

What a beautiful world we live in , to have a relationship with a bear not just one ,but a family of bears. But Simone is the best , you weren’t sitting on the porch, so she sat looking in to see if you were there. @@PatrickConley Don't get me wrong. I'm not trying to say I think of her as similar to a dog. She is a bear and needs respect and to be treated as a wild bear. Her looks and actions sometimes just makes her look like a giant dog is all.

I love to watch how you and Simone interact with one another. She reminded me of a big ol' dog sitting at your door, scratching and hoping you'll bring a few birdseeds out for her. I can see how easy it'd be to forget that she's a wild animal that could tear you apart in a matter of seconds.

Get a Kiddy pool and fill it with water and see if that helps she might be getting over heated …let her lay in it for awhile

Simone is a beautiful bear with a good personality.How bears would get close to a person like Paul and not harm them. She is precious and I love her.
Thank you Patrick for caring about Simone. 💜 I know you have brought the authorities' attention to her poor physical condition. Wildlife could dart her from the porch or from the safety of a vehicle. Then give her an anti-parasitic, a long duration shot of antibiotics , spray her bald patches, take blood and check her teeth. All in a day's work. If African wildlife rescuers can do it - we have a lot less money than the USA - then surely the USA wildlife and forestry services can do it! Or does the life & and well-being of this one bear and possible future cubs not matter to them? 🤔
Please please Patrick call some more wildlife rescuers and ask them to take another look at Simone. She is looking worse and worse. We may be watching her slowly die when something could be done to save her.

I love seeing the close-ups of Simone... I grew up in the country and we also had black bears roaming around. I noticed that Simone has a tag in her ear so she is being tracked by your wildlife folks. Having said that, it is very clear Simone is sick. She has a very serious case of mange (missing fur, scratching all the time). I've said this before. It may also be why she was a little testy a few days ago. I'd be afraid to call the wildlife folks in, in case they decide she needs to be put down. But what you could do is visit a local vet to see if there was something you can buy to cure her mange that you could just add to her water dish. It's worth a try. She is a very pretty bear. I hate to think that she is suffering.
I am so afraid that we are watching Simone slowly waste away, and doing nothing to prevent her death.
She obviously wanted seeds but to me, she also seemed a little contrite for the bluff charge, the way she sat and stared at you.
I don't know if you heard, but for a few days already whole country was watching for the white female Polar bear at Dikson (north Russia) - she've come to people with condensed milk jar stucked in her mouth. Today veterinarian could reache her, tranquilize, put this thing out, cure the cuts and leave her with 50 kilos of fish, as she wouldn't hunt for some time. Just wanted to share)

there is no way after this video anyone could convince me otherwise that Simone considers you her person. i agree with others, that she was clearly trying to communicate. if she wanted something, the moment you opened the door, she could have rushed, instead, she waited on the stairs. you two clearly have a deep deep bond.

Part of me thinks Simone is sick and she is trying to get Patrick to help. She doesn’t look as lethargic today but she has looked like she is struggling going back to when the cubs were still around.
