The Zodiac Notes of Macau

- Beginning with a dragon themed note issued in 2012, Macau issued a series of banknotes from the Bank of China and from the National Bank Ultramarino with the twelve animals of the Asian zodiac.
Issued in red for good luck, this is a splendid series of notes that is relatively easy to put together.
In addition to the dragon, other animal themes include: rabbit, tiger, ox, rat, pig, dog, chicken, monkey, goat, horse, and snake.

These are really beautiful notes and I am happy you completed your awesome collection! I think my favorite is the rabbit. Thank you Benjamin. Truly appreciate you and your creativity.
In the animal images look at the different flowers in each one. I was reading something the other day that the Mao banknotes have different flowers on them. I need to look closer at them to see what they are talking about. Where are the flowers on the banknote? Is it a watermark, an underprint or something else? Another beautiful set of notes, thank you.
The watermark shows a flower. I think it is a floral symbol of Macau since the takeover.
The inner cycle is the Earthly Branches, an ancient Chinese ordering system. Used in a lot of stuff, for example the earthly branch 子 is associated with the zodiac Rat, eleventh month of lunar calendar, time period between 11 PM to 1 AM, the point of 0 degrees/the direction North (N).
I believe the explanation is clear enough for you to determine the remaining associations of the other branches ;)
Thank you! I knew someone would know!
Thanks for the shoutout, my friend. Good to see you back with another video! :)
The inner circle of characters represents time, like a clock: a system popularized during the Song Dynasty.
Fascinating!
China has started a set of 20 Yuan notes starting with the dragon. Dated 2024 it is very beautiful
I have that note. Love that it is first of a series!
