👋 Hello everyone! Thanks for watching our video. We hope you found it informative. 🚨There’s an update! As of June 1st, 2024, the Visa on arrival rules will allow 60 days in Thailand instead of 30. That actually sounds really fun! Do you know of anywhere we could volunteer for some time? Or spend time learning about this? I think it would make for an interesting video! Thanks for the suggestion. 🙏
A couple of years ago, when I was in STATE for a business trip, my coworker asked me a simple question: 'How are you? Are you enjoying this trip?' I responded, 'It's alright, but I miss something spicy.' He replied, 'I'm not surprised. Every time I see a Thai person in another country, I've never heard them say they're satisfied with the food. with my humble oppions....It's not an exaggeration. We've developed our taste buds over the years. 'Welcome to the gastronomic capital of the world" ☺
100%! I just wish that vendors would actually make our food 'thai spicy!' I feel that they always water it down, even if I ask "phed mak." Either that or my spice tolerance is on another level compared to most westerners haha. I LOVE spicy food. And you're right, Thai food is some of the best in the world for sure. 🤤
Wow!! So many great tips!! Thank you so much for sharing this. We learned a lot 😊 We love Thailand so much, so decided to make it our home for awhile ❤❤❤
We loved our time in Thailand but only spent time near the beach! Will definitely have to check out Bangkok and Chiang Mai when we go back! Thanks for all the tips! ❤
That’s not a bad place to spend some time. It seems we favor the mountains and cities… which is weird as 90% of the reason we came here was for the beaches! 😅😂
5:26, Same in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Taiwan and Philippines, the monsoon start in June and last until October, not good. Best time to visit Southeast Asia is November to February or March when the weather is good and normal.
Actually, almost every doctor or dentist in Thailand can speak at an intermediate to advanced level of English. Since Thailand is a developing country, the government spends a lot of funds to subsidize tuition fees for medical and dental students. They only pay around 10% of the tuition fee compared to private medical schools. Top-class high school students often work extremely hard to pass admission exam and get into government medical schools, so these students are usually able to speak English well, as they are typically “straight-A students.” This is one of the reasons why Thailand has become a healthcare hub in the region. The selection process for doctors is based on their academic ability + ensuring that financial constraints do not prevent talented students from entering medical school.
14:18, Same in Malaysia, Japan, UK, Australia and New Zealand, they drive on the left and sterring wheel is on the right, so be aware when you visit new countries that they drive on the left for the 1st time. When are you gonna visit Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the UK? Best time to visit Japan is spring (March until May) and autumn. Best time to visit Australia and New Zealand is spring and autumn, but from October or November to March or April. And best time to visit the UK is June to August when the weather is normal.
@vet_4055 thank you so much! 🫶 We do our best to share things we're passionate about, so we're happy this comes through on the videos. Thank you for being so kind and for watching. Cheers!
Hi guys, I live in Thailand since the last 9 years and know many places here. But found your video very refreshing. I work here as a Scuba Diving Instructor in Phuket and it is awesome 🤩 And yes Thai Food is the best and the variety of fruit you get here, OMG. Ashley, what a lovely woman you are and Mike, she's a keeper 😉 All the best guys
Hi Jorgen, thanks so much for watching. Glad we could provide some useful info to a Thai veteran like yourself! Being a scuba instructor in Phuket sounds lovely! YES! The fruit is incredible! We have tried so many fun things. And thanks, she’s a keeper for sure! 👌
Debit cards fee are expensive normally in Thailand so don't be shock about it. and it's not expensive because Thai banks or anything. the structure of ATM fees are 100THB for Thai bank(always this price)+international ATM fees(VISA or Mastercard is the one who call the price with your own bank)+Currency conversion fee(up to your type of card some card are very low but yes some card are very high up to 7%) So if you want to lower the ATM fees many people suggested it already that is use Travel credit cards with low foreign transaction fees instead. and you can pay it back when you go back with your own debit card or cash at your country. it might have some cost on doing so but it won't be as outrageous as it is on debit card.
We know this is normal, but coming from the US where the most expensive fees we saw were $2-$3 (unless at a theme park or sports stadium, etc) paying nearly $6, is just nuts. Our bank doesn’t charge us foreign fees or ATM fees, but we don’t get them reimbursed from the actual Thai bank like some cards do.
If you can open a Thai bank account. Almost offer many ATM cards with "chargeless or ATM free" option. I am not sure if this does work with foreigner, but you should check this if you stay longer for example more than one week in Thailand. I think that kind of ATM card is very useful.
The new World Heritage site of Thailand is Ancient Srithep Dvaravati Archeology city at Petchabun province. The amazing Ancient Indianization civilization at central Thailand on the past.
Oh wow! I just checked this place out and it looks amazing. I wish we'd known about this sooner, but we will have to make an effort to check it out once we are able to return to Thailand. Thank you so much for sharing! For those of you interested, here's a link: whc.unesco.org/en/list/1662/
Yea, just our luck, they announce changes to all of the visa rules the day after we post our video! 😭🫠 Oh well! We can’t predict the future. Very excited for all of the new visa opportunities in Thailand! 🙏
Great tips, thks for sharing! I loved Koh Lipe bc we have 3 kids, so getting around can be a challenge. We used grab lots in Malaysia so it will be so awesome to have that option on mainland Thailand. Curious can you recommend anywhere else in Thailand that also has easy walkability like Koh Lipe? We plan to stay in central world area in Bangkok for 3 days which looks like it has so much to offer. Then Hua hin which looks less chaotic + more our speed 😅👌 Thks for all u share!
Thanks for watching! 🙏 We found Chiang Mai incredibly walkable, Pai is quite small, and also walkable in the main part of town. As far as beachy areas, all you can do is walk on Koh Phi Phi, so there's that! 😂 And Koh Samet's main area is incredibly walkable as well with most of what you'd want to do in on central area. There are also plenty of transports on the island that can get you to other beaches. We've never been to Hua Hin but hear it's really nice. Bangkok 'can' be walkable depending on your plans and location, but as long as you're near the MRT/BTS, you can get anywhere with ease. Hope this helps!
Thailand has 77 province and each province are different in term of culture, food and art but some are similar but not the same. Then tourist can visit few times a year and it take more time to cover 77 provinces.

TM6 Arrival card used to be given out on the airplane to be filled in for immigration but it got cancelled about 2 or 3 years ago so no longer required
Thank you for the video. I watch your videos more often now and of course I subscriber. I am thinking to go there and stay for a long term like a year or more at the end of this year, you mentioned the ATM fees is almost $6 per transaction. Do you have other tips for us to use to reduce transaction fees. Thank you and have a great time in Thailand.
Thanks for watching and following along! The best one I’ve heard is to get a debit card that refunds ATM fees like the Charles Schwab checking account. We are being told that Krungsri bank will allow you to withdraw money in the branch with your debit card. So there’s also that! And just making sure to get out as much as you can at a time.
Thank you for your replies. Other folks suggested to use Charles Schwab debit card too. I guess I need to open account with them. Have a great weekend.
It's called visa exempt not visa on arrival. VOA is very different. And it's not just semantics because if those coming into the airport see the visa on arrival signs and wait in those lines then they're wasting time.
5:02 when you talk about lot more affordable, what things in your experience are affordable? Compared to the dry season rates? Because I found that food prices remains the same And flight tickets remains the same as well Accommodations do get cheaper that's that But I want to know what else could we benefit from in the affordable pool?
Great question. We are mainly talking about accommodations here. However, we have also found that tours booked in person can also be cheaper, though we don’t partake in many tours, so we don’t have a ton of examples of this. 😊
You forgot to mention that your travel insurance will not cover you if you hire a motorcycle and have an accident in Thailand without having a motorcycle licence from your home country also marked on your international licence. Insurance is void..thus You will need a gofundme page to repatiate yourself or what's left of you $$$$ to your home country as many travellers have found out the hard way..check the find fine print in travel insurance premiums.. they all say this ..Beware ! Don't hire and ride in Thailand unless you have a motorbike licence in your home country, and it is noted on your international drivers licence 😊
It is not a visa on arrival. That is a completely different scheme. It is a visa waiver scheme that allows you to stay for 30 days (60 days from tomorrow). You get permission to stay, but you do not have a visa.
Thanks Richard! And yeah, haha, we've heard about the visas... only after posting the video through these comments though. 😂 What are the odds eh? Hopefully it's permanent! That would be amazing! It means we could benefit from it next time. Hope you're having a great day!
I don’t love it, but it’s better than the cold in Alaska, where we lived before. This summer has been oppressively hot. So we spend the daytime hours in doors and explore in the mornings and evenings. When it’s less so, but still hot. I feel like even if the temp is the same as somewhere back home (for us the US), Thailand’s heat feels like it hits different. Probably because of proximity to the equator. But I suppose it depends. It’s nice in the ‘peak’ seasons of Nov-March. But I’m not sure we’ll spend the summer there again by choice! 🥵😂
@@mikeandashley yes, typical of Thailand to hint of changes without doing them, or, as in this case, not give any notice and release big changes in 3 days. Anyway, good video. Thank you.
It is very safe to eat street food in Thailand if you are careful and observe for signs of poor hygiene. Food stalls that have no access to running water wash all their bowls, spoons and plates in buckets of water which gets murkier as the day goes on so be careful and don't sit down to eat food served on plates or in bowls. Take it home in disposable containers. Also be a bit cautious with raw food such as fresh veg and "som tam" papaya salad which are not as safe as hot cooked food.
Taxi scams are all too common and who doesn't hate being scammed but don't sweat it too much even with the illegally inflated price, taxis are still much cheaper than they are in the West. Do not however be tempted to take motorbike taxis. These are very convenient and fast but very unsafe. Reckless drivers on bikes with bald tires, broken rear lights, some have their rear view mirrors removed (really!) means serious risk of injury and if you don't wear a helmet that's just suicidal.
Not necessarily, the exchange rate there can be bad, but checking with your bank isn’t a bad option. Bringing cash to exchange in Thailand is a great idea, there are plenty of banks or exchange stands that offer fair exchanges.
14:46 There are rules prohibiting the sale of alcoholic beverages on important Buddhist holidays which are 8 days per year and election day in the relevant provinces. It's 24 hours before Election Day, starting at 6:00 p.m., so check the calendar in advance and reserve them in the fridge, in case of emergency. 😂😂
Stock up on Changs and Singha! 😂😂 It was funny. We got so used to it, and don't typically drink a lot, but when our friends came to visit on vacation, we totally forgot about the law, so we went to a 7 Eleven to grab some beers for the pool at 3pm, and they were SHOCKED! That next day was election day last year too... fun timing. 😅😂
Oh wow. That's super helpful! We need a fancy card like that. The fees in Cambodia are just as bad as Thailand. They were very reasonable in Vietnam, Indonesia and Malaysia though. Go figure. 😂
@mikeandashley if someone in your family was active duty military they can sponsor you to get a navy federal bank account! They don't have foreign transaction fees either I believe (I can't remember exactly I want to say they have a conversion fee but not a transaction one)
Wet season many Thai people like to travel because of low price hotel too. Trick for ticket traffic police. You can try to bargain just said you have not enough just paid 300 b .Khop khun krap.
Yes, but also WAY hotter than anywhere we've ever experienced. The temps will be the same as in the hotter parts of the US, but because of the proximity to the equator, the sun feels so much closer. It's wild. Before we came out here I was like: "I've spent summers in FL and AZ, we're ready for the heat..." - We were not. 🥵🥵🥵
@mikeandashley yes that's how I felt in the Dominican! Heat wise I was fine! But I was only in the sun maybe a total of 15 minutes throughout the day and I was BURNT to a crisp lol I've never been so burnt in my life! It was really bad! We've been to Vietnam! So I assume it'll be similar!
If you're going to be renting a motorbike for more than a few days, buy your own helmet (about 1000 bht). You don't know what has happened to the rental shop one even if it looks ok.
This is a great tip! We've only rented one for a day or two at a time and are limited in space in our luggage for sure. I wonder if any motorbike shops would buy back a helmet for some fraction of the cost?
@@mikeandashley Also, imagine how many other people's sweaty heads have been inside a rental shop helmet.... Who knows what their personal hygiene is like?! LOL!!!
about the alcohol law, im Thai and i dont even drink but i truly believed that is silly. in addition to those hours, election day prohibited the sales of alcohol as well. the official reason is intoxicated individuals “may” forget to go vote…..let that sink in for a minute. as always, the streets or local moms&dads convenient store will bypass that law for you.
Haha, good to know! And yea, we’ve been there for various holidays and Election Day as well. Oh well, it’s not a big deal for us, just thought people should know. 😊
Yeah, I feel like if you're creative, you certainly could. But yeah, just survival, no vacation! Unless you sleep on the beach and don't have to pay for accommodations or something. Then it could be a little more relaxing. 😂

@mikeandashley thanks guys!..Sorry we didn't mention we love your videos as well ❤️
Of course! And no worries, thank you so much. 🙏 That means a lot. 🥰
I m sure that ashley really like Thai foods considering from your first few vdos in thailand untill now.
It’s definitely her favorite cuisine. 👌
Welcome again duo happiness
Thank you! 🙏
It is not a visa on arrival. That is a completely different scheme. It is a visa waiver scheme that allows you to stay for 30 days (60 days from tomorrow). You get permission to stay, but you do not have a visa.
Ah, thanks for correcting us. We misused the terms. Cheers!
Great video. They changed the visa lengths today. Temporarily or permanent🤷♂️
Thanks Richard! And yeah, haha, we've heard about the visas... only after posting the video through these comments though. 😂 What are the odds eh? Hopefully it's permanent! That would be amazing! It means we could benefit from it next time. Hope you're having a great day!
How do you guys feel about the heat in Thailand?
I don’t love it, but it’s better than the cold in Alaska, where we lived before.
This summer has been oppressively hot. So we spend the daytime hours in doors and explore in the mornings and evenings. When it’s less so, but still hot.
I feel like even if the temp is the same as somewhere back home (for us the US), Thailand’s heat feels like it hits different. Probably because of proximity to the equator.
But I suppose it depends. It’s nice in the ‘peak’ seasons of Nov-March. But I’m not sure we’ll spend the summer there again by choice! 🥵😂
I will be there in Thailand July 1st do I need to call ahead of time and get a Visa before going there or can I just show up
Nope. You just show up. Apparently, they've extended the time period to 60 days as well! So you're coming just in time. 👌 We hope you enjoy your trip!
And now, as of June 1st, they are changing the visas again. Most countries are now visa-free upon arrival for up to 60 days (starts June 1st).
Thank you for letting us know! Of course this happens as soon as we post the video. 😅😂 I’ve just pinned a comment to inform people. 😊🙏
@@mikeandashley yes, typical of Thailand to hint of changes without doing them, or, as in this case, not give any notice and release big changes in 3 days. Anyway, good video. Thank you.
Haha. Just our luck! 😂 But oh well! That’s amazing news for people visiting!
I cant believe that I have been watching your vlog for so long now yet I am not yet subscribe 😂😂😂. Now I am. ❤
Aw, thanks so much! We really appreciate any support. Welcome to the family!
This is all great advice to people wanting to try more street food! Thank you for sharing! 🙏
Thanks! Yea, there are definitely food for tourism as well as proper traditional food. It’s fun to try it all sometimes!
What’s your favorite dish?
Ooh! That sounds delicious! 😋
Welcome to thailand
Thank you! 🙏🥰
This is excellent advice!
Like 😂❤🎉
Wow missing Thailand 🇹🇭🎉🎊
Wish you happiness 😊💕🎉
Thank you so much! We're missing it tooooo!
Welcome to Thailand. 🇹🇭
Thank you! 🙏
ประเทศไทยมี3ฤดูการครับ มีหน้า ฝน หนาว ร้อน ไม่ใช่มี2ฤดูการคับ
Haha, sorry, we just can’t consider anywhere in Thailand ‘cold’ after living in Alaska where it gets to -30 C. 😂
Thanks for sharing ATM fees! Is it best to get Thai bhat at home USA?
It was funny. We got so used to it, and don't typically drink a lot, but when our friends came to visit on vacation, we totally forgot about the law, so we went to a 7 Eleven to grab some beers for the pool at 3pm, and they were SHOCKED!
That next day was election day last year too... fun timing. 😅😂
Luckily navy federal gives us $20 worth of atm fees back every month
My dad was in the Navy, but back in the 70’s. That’s about it. 😅
@mikeandashley hey he might be able to get yall and account it's really easy!
There are THREE seasons in most of Thailand. The 2 seasons thing is really only the southern peninsula.
For real? We've only experienced one other season, and that was in Chiang Rai province for winter at Phu Chi Fa!
Thanks for letting us know! 🙏
@@mikeandashley Hot season is March to May, then wet season, that is about May to October and finally "cool" season.
Tracks… but it’s always hot to be fair! 😂
❤

ขอบคุณครับที่ทำให้คนทั่วโลกรู้จักพวกเรามากขึ้น🙏💕
No problem! We love sharing our travel experiences.
ชอบมาก
Thank you! 🙏

Tuk Tuk is more expensive than aircon Taxi! Also avoid motorcycle Taxi!
100%, couldn’t agree with you more!
Wet season many Thai people like to travel because of low price hotel too. Trick for ticket traffic police. You can try to bargain just said you have not enough just paid 300 b .Khop khun krap.
Oh, nice to know you can bargain, but I feel like we were in the wrong, so I didn’t want to argue.
Yea, wet season has great prices!
Ah so like Texas with the weather lol, except it gets hotter after the rain haha
Very similar to southern Vietnam. My gosh, it’s intense!
@@mikeandashley oh good! We've been to HCMC and Hoi An! So I know what to expect! I thought it was going to be worse
Hi 🍃
Hello 😊
its now going to be 60days from June 2024
We've heard! We have added a pinned comment. We've got impeccable timing eh? 😅😂
LOL!!!
Right?! 😂 We just pretend that only we sweat! 🥵
Moving to Bangkok Next Month. Doing A Travel Vlog about it now on my TH-cam. Appreciate You :)
Good luck with your move to Bangkok! 😊
about the alcohol law, im Thai and i dont even drink but i truly believed that is silly. in addition to those hours, election day prohibited the sales of alcohol as well. the official reason is intoxicated individuals “may” forget to go vote…..let that sink in for a minute. as always, the streets or local moms&dads convenient store will bypass that law for you.
Haha, good to know! And yea, we’ve been there for various holidays and Election Day as well. Oh well, it’s not a big deal for us, just thought people should know. 😊
❤🇻🇳❤

You know we gotta! 😮💨
@@mikeandashley lol i’m just kidding!! that thai spice gonna kill ya two 😅
Blinky… have you not heard that nothing is too spicy for me?
@@mikeandashley lol sure thing bud 🤣
Not kidding! Just you wait. 😉
Can probably live on $10 a day lol
I wouldn’t call it a vacation though
Yeah, I feel like if you're creative, you certainly could. But yeah, just survival, no vacation! Unless you sleep on the beach and don't have to pay for accommodations or something. Then it could be a little more relaxing. 😂
Shameless commercial advertisement plug.
No bueno
