Your video makes me want to eat dumplings 😊I love ❤dumplings and really want to go back to my hometown to eat them. Thank you for sharing your experience ❤
Hey everyone! 👋 We’re on a mission to hit 100k subscribers, and we’d love your help! If you enjoy this video, please consider subscribing and sharing it with your friends-it means the world to us. 🥟✨ This video is a little shorter than usual because we’ve been running around like crazy getting everything sorted for our China visas and packing for our flight back to China tomorrow. We can’t wait to dive even deeper into this amazing country and share all the adventures with you soon! Thanks for being here and for all your support. ❤
You guys are so cute. My favorite dumpling is shrimp dumpling. There's a whole shrimp in it . If you have a chance to go to Guangdong to have morning tea, you can try it The shrimp dumplings are definitely worth eating.😊😊
You guys have become one of my most anticipated TH-camrs, back in May i brought a spanish friend for a trip in China (Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou and my hometown), it was a first time in China for her and for me it’s my first time back in China since the pandemic and the second time in Beijing after 2008. The country is so big that even after three of the most characteristic cities we still felt that we had just scratched the surface. Watching you guys makes me remember how lovely the trip was and the regrets we had during it, hope her return for another trip in China, and you guys as well.
Also, Mikes chopstick handling is supreme, and I’m not saying it just because I handle them the same way that he does XD. My grandmother said to me when I was little that crossing your chopstick behind the back is improper. But as I grew I kinda figured that it was a lie to groom me to handle the chopsticks the same she does.
Aw, thank you so much! 🥰🫶 That’s so kind of you to say! The trip sounds amazing! I wish we’d have been able to see Beijing sooner, but we’re very fortunate to have been able to come now. It’s such a massive city! There’s so much to see, so we will return for sure. We hope you and your friend are able to return as well. 😊 Thank you for the kind words about our channel and content. We’re really glad you enjoy it! 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Yes! 💪 So glad to know I’ve got it down! It’s taken a lot of practice, but I now feel more comfortable with chopsticks than western utensils and cutlery! 😅😂🥢
Glad to see you so enjoyed the dumplings. The shop definitely has fusion dumplings, i.e., cheese, dessert ? But then in other cultures such as pierogi are also dumplings.
Rice vinger, welcome to my hometown.I miss the homemade dumplings 😂you should try old Beijing Dalian huoshao (老北京褡琏火烧) I love the pork dill dumplings.and if you get chance,go to try (大鸭梨烤鸭店)yummy and cheaper.beijing duck and gong bao ji ding .
Hmm. That sounds great! We’d love to try more authentic dumplings! While these were really tasty, we’re starting to realize the food blog we looked to for advice had a lot of more westernized restaurants listed for some reason. 😅 Either way, we had a great time and the dumplings were really good! Thanks for the suggestions. We’ll give them a shot next time! 😋🥟
I love Chinese food! They’re one of my top favorite foods along with Cambodian, Middle Eastern (Persian, Lebanese, Egyptian, Arab, Israeli, etc…), and Italian food. Those dumplings look so good and comforting! 😊. I would love to try those chocolate banana dumplings. What a new yummy creative concept. HAPPY HOLIDAYS or MERRY CHRISTMAS! 🎄🎁
Chinese food is usually refined at the cooking stage, so there are usually not many condiments on the table. Except for dishes that require dipping, like hot pot or barbecue. 中国菜一般都是在烹饪阶段就调好味道了,所以一般不会在餐桌上有很多调味品。除非一些需要蘸料的菜品,比如火锅,烧烤类食物。
That makes a whole lot of sense! We’re used to Southeast Asia where a lot of condiments and customization is available tableside so you can tweak the dish to your taste. We can’t wait to discover more flavors of Chinese cuisine! 🥢
Haha. We try to be grateful for everything. We don’t always nail it, but we do our best. We just like trying to experiment with different types of video ideas. This was fun, but I think we prefer our longer style where we do more exploration. 😊 Thanks so much for watching and saying hello. 🤗
I have to stop watching your videos at night you guys eating the incredible food in the evening because I can't get any of this where I am at this time. Keep up the great videos.
24 is nothing! I can have 24 myself😂the best is definitely home made ones. Usually home made dumpling skin is thinner, which I prefer. BTW can't believe you will be back tmr! Hope you also enjoy this time, just be careful of the spice and pepper😂they are stomach killers
Haha, ok, maybe we should challenge ourselves a bit more next time! 😂 We’d love to try home made dumplings, that would be a dream come true! And we are SO EXCITED! 🤗🤗🤗 And we’re ready for the spice. The spicier the better! 😋🌶️
Actually I think the dumplings are not steamed dumplings, it’s boiled dumplings (it’s the classic way of cooking them). And the other plate is pan-seared. There are steamed dumplings in China actually, but they are often served with a steamed container (it’s called steamer maybe?)
@ I found the menu of that restaurant online, and it was definitely boiled dumplings (if the menu says “dumplings” or “水饺,” it typically refers to boiled ones). While steamed dumplings are also delicious, that restaurant doesn’t serve them. If you’re still in China, give steamed dumplings a try-they’re different but equally tasty. Here’s what they look like: th-cam.com/video/93KcH65Qsco/w-d-xo.htmlsi=xWeB5fOw-ZuSk_dD. I’m so glad you enjoyed the food in my hometown, Beijing! And l absolutely enjoyed your Chinese series!
If you have the opportunity to go to other cities in the north or the south, you will find more other different forms and you will have absolutely marvellous new perceptions then. The Chinese kitchen is a place of endless magic.
We don't eat "JIAO ZA" (Dumpling) every day, but almost every Chinese family eat Zhu Jiao Za (boiled Dumpling) at Chinese Luna New Year's Eve🎉. BTW fried one side Dumpling called " GUO TIE" in Mandrin, next time try to order this one😂
@xuwang8017 ok, good to know! I have only been able to figure it out my way so far, but I usually have no problems picking anything up, even small/slippery items… though, I’m definitely not perfect and drop things too! 😅😂
you can take your food away if you cant finish.... i think its a done thing, if you over order etc you can actually tell them you want half of it to be taken away.... ive noticed
I'm glad to see that you have specially found a dumpling restaurant to eat dumplings! It seems that you have found a restaurant that specializes in serving foreigners. I'm not sure if the taste of this shop can fully represent the taste of traditional Chinese dumplings, but it looks good! Actually, there are only a few kinds of traditional stuffing for Chinese people to eat dumplings. Meat is mainly concentrated in pork, mutton and beef. Simultaneously, mix in one or two types of vegetables such as chives, fennel, green onions, cabbage, shiitake mushrooms, zucchini, corn, and more. Sometimes, some shrimp is also added. Some residents in coastal areas also eat seafood-type dumplings such as cuttlefish, scallops, or Spanish mackerel. But Chinese people rarely use chicken and green peppers as fillings for dumplings. Banana and chocolate dumplings are definitely for foreign tourists! No Chinese people would accept this combination!!! This feeling is like the Italian people can not accept the pineapple pizza!!! In my opinion, banana and chocolate are more suitable for Indian naan and pancake. Finally, I hope you have a good time in China~🥰
Please don’t take offence, generally in Chinese culture it is consider uncultured to spread sauce over your food. The normal practice is to dip the food in the sauce (normally different sauce in small dishes). The exception is dishes like bowls of noodles/soups and the like - ENJOY
Maybe it’s time for Chinese people to try it. It’s always good to open up your heart and mind to try something new and delicious. You might just fall in love with it. 😊
China is only a developing country with the third largest territory in the world, and the changes from north to south are huge. There is completely different food, varied, and very cheap. Anyone can afford it. So when traveling in China, keep an open mind and you can have a great time.

We totally understand! We get the same cravings after re-watching our videos. 🤣
Banana chocolate dumplings are crazy. As a Chinese, I have never eaten this kind of dumplings.
We thought so too! So we HAD to try them for ourselves. They were quite good, but more like a fried crepe than a dumpling. 😋
I say try it!
All of that sounds incredible! We want to experience the flavors from all over China! 😋
Mmm, fennel is delicious!
Chives and pork for the win for sure! 🤌
We enjoyed this video as much as you guys enjoyed the dumplings 😊
I could have 2 plates of those dumplings for dinner😊

They both had meat! 😊
wow,to be honest.As a Chinese,I never eat dumplings with cheese。
We couldn’t believe them lol. We’d never even seen such a thing, so we had to try them haha. They were more like Mexican food than dumplings. 😅😂🌮
We called this kind of dumplings[JiaoZi]😊Chinese JiaoZi
I tried to learn how to say it, though my pronunciation is probably terrible! 😅😂
maybe you guys can visit qingdao(shandong province) for culter flavor dumplins, that's the most umami dumplins in the world😂

Grace matters at least in traditinal table etiquette! Also the correct way enables picking up more difficult objects!
@xuwang8017 ok, good to know! I have only been able to figure it out my way so far, but I usually have no problems picking anything up, even small/slippery items… though, I’m definitely not perfect and drop things too! 😅😂
We try, but often fail when we try to be graceful at anything! 😅🤣

@xuwang8017 practice makes perfect! We thought about filming a chopsticks challenge video between Ashley and I! 😂🥢
I ate 60 dumplings
What?! By yourself?! 😱
@ yes
On the can of the soda it says scan the QR code and learn different ways to mix drinks.
The correct way of using chopsticks is that one chopstick is held between index and middle finger the other one is between middle and ring finger。
