  • Probably the only video this close up of the bottom of Kaieteur falls that you can find anywhere!
I was lucky enough to join a group of rangers to do a trek down to the bottom that took a gargantuan effort! Using machetes to clear a path, swimming part of the river, and finally climbing and bouldering some massive rocks to get this close.
Check out my blog post on how I did it!

Stunning view. I assume during full flow you wont be able to see anything from this angle due to all the mist?

Thanks! Actually during full flow it would be impossible to even get this close. It gets 5-10x wider and bigger. All the massive boulders at the river bed that we had to hike and climb around (which took around 2 hours + each way) would be submerged. It's an incredibly wild and dangerous place, the rangers that took me here were hesitant in the first place too until they appreciated how far the water was receded back in this particularly dry season.

When it’s the rainy season the bottom Litterly becomes impossible to stand there

haha had to wake up at 4am, hike down for several hours, then climb around and hike along the river, swim a little to get across, then climb around massive boulders which altogether took another 2-3 hours, was exhausting and very dangerous! Check it out in my blog here, adventuresofzach.com/2019/12/09/guyana-part-2-jungle-survival/

The rangers told me apparently it's loud and powerful enough to feel the vibrations even a bit farther away near the huts!
