every day items turned into convincing lures... even if I weren't into fishing, I'd still watch your videos just for the "outside of the box" thinking. Brilliant!
I keep coming back to the idea of making a zara spook, but i am still looking for angle. I had so many problems with clear coating when i first started messing round with lures, i have to say it is the closest i have come to crying was looking at a batch of coated polyurethane lures that looked like they had been spat on rather clear coated. Good luck and thanks for taking the time to comment
have you ever seen the juv. stage of a giant water beetle? that is one scary looking insect, i used to spend more time than i cared unblocking a water filter from a supply pond that held its fair share. cheers
Again another brilliant out-of-the-box design of yours , Paul , ....needless to say , that I'm pretty much amazed about your creativity ! Cheers , Dieter
Thanks for kind words, i still get a buzz everytime i catch a fish with my own lures and i like the way you make it sound like boredom is a material, i wish i could make things out of boredom. Cheers
These are the videos I like to watch because I actually learn something, he is saving the environment, and saving his money to go to the fishing store to buy a lure that is almost like this one but breaks
i think with this one because i didn't know how i was going finish the lure when i started i kind of had to double back on myself, I should of through wired it before filling it, but there is always next time. It is always great to hear other peoples ideas on a project, i have learnt a lot from them... Thanks
Nice Job!!! Applause for camera work, angles, close-ups speed-ups was fun and a pleasure to watch Plus awesome CREATIVITY! LOOKS REAL AND A FISH KILLER!
the micro spheres make it float or in this case suspend(if there is such a thing), glass spheres are normally sold in boat shops as an addition to epoxy resin to make a lightweight filler, so it is not a rare item, i was going to try builder's expanding foam which probably would of made a more buoyant lure but i am not sure if it would react with the plastic spoons. Cheers
i have a small band saw and a dremel, but i like working with my hands. To make it float i would have to add more micro balloons to the mix, or use a thinner gauge hook cheers
there is not a lot of strength in the spoons when hollow, the resin really gives it that but a lighter filler and there is no reason it shouldn't be a top water lure although it is not a very stable shape even weighted, i thought about a crawler type lure with wide wings but it would be great to see someone else's twist on it. Good luck
i half filled the shell with kids craft foam and then used the polyurethane mix on another, but builders foam might be an alternative. You could leave it hollow but the spoons and not that strong especially on the joints and alternative maybe to put a good amount of 5min epoxy inside the hollow shell and roll it around until it sets up that way it would get trapped in the joints and reinforce them, i think the answer is experiment cheers
That is genius. I made my first spinner lure today out of boredom and it runs just as straight and as smooth as any of my store bought lures...I caught a bass on my first test run.... This is very inspirational..,, I am an artist as well as a sport fisherman, so this kills two birds with one stone, so-to-speak....this gave me some great ideas for frogs and junebugs as well.,, thanks for the amazing video!
i was going to make another one and then make a silicone mould and roto cast it and do some different things with it as possibly a how to vid, but once again time is my enemy and the longer i spend making lures the less time i get to fish them. I couldn't get this lure to stabilize with a lip it wants to be a spoon and spin, i think it would have to have a lip large enough to overcome that and be something like a deep diver or maybe a crawler... Thanks
I have never seen more ingenuity in making lures The beetle was the best I have ever seen However I bet your no fun at a picnic cause i do not want to eat with my fingers just kidding Fantastic Job
Wow, I think that might be the most creativ lure you have done so far! Great work! But how would it be if you leave the inside hollow and add a bit of weight on the belly? Together with the little spinner blade you have added, it would make a great topwaterbait! I also think that you can use your idea with the spoon body for a nice frog design!
Dude i must say you are really 1 smart cookie.... but thats a pretty big lure, and it would cost more to make it then it would just to go buy 1...... But really looks good and i am glad to see people with that kind of talent keep up the good work.
Absolutely fantastic looking lure and it swims nicely too, bouncing at the bottom : ) Very good job and great video ! im getting so inspired that i might cancel my fishing trip tomorrow and do something fun and new to my lurepack..
at the moment diddly squat, it was designed as a winter lure so i have only tested for a few minutes at the local lake, hopefully when it starts to cool down and the pike are lying on the bottom again it will come into its own or not and will have a collection of useless teaspoons.
Awesome lure , again , I love the raw audio file . I feel like anyone resourceful enough to build these kind of projects doesn't need dubbed over instructions . Also , you should try a dremel tool with a cutoff disc , it should speed up your micro cutting projects and be more precise too !
I live and grew up in Nova Scotia, so when I said "I made a spinner today out of boredom" I guess I should've said, "Due to extreme boredom, I decided to pass the time by hand-crafting my very first home-made lure." Lol....you sounded like my English/grammer teacher, who I enjoy saying, "I'm doing good," to, every time she asks me how I am doing...lol...nonetheless, your videos are amazing and inspiring...I enjoy them a lot...I do have to purchase some more boredom:) pt
i had another go this afternoon re-rigging another for topwater and it worked great but looked a bit freaky with them eyes coming toward me i don't know if i'll catch any pike or just scare the shit out of them. Cheers
Again... I have watched this for the 14th time...I really enjoy your ingenuity and talents when it comes to such things. I am working on a few prototypes...stand by sir. L/S
Man, I am beginning to think that you were out on this earth to make fishing lures. Been checking your videos out for about 6 months .. Great job. . I been making some zara spooks and when i need some info I seem to always look at yours especially clear cost and painting.
Brilliant idea ! Any chance on a full how to video for this ? Would it work well as a surface lure if filled with foam and a small bill to dive roughly a foot or two ?
Another master Lure. I wonder if you will sale one of them ? ; My father it's an huge fan of Fishing Lure, and it could be an very great gift for his birthday
I've seen u build a few lures, u need a small band saw and a dremel tool setup. but, your really quick with a saw blade. wish I had your imagination, You come up with some good ideas, will this bug float w/o a weight?
FANTASTIC work. I stumbled on your videos yesterday, and have enjoyed all i have seen. I have a question... What is the exact purpose of injecting the Micro Glass Spheres with the resin into the body cavity?
Dude...That's Awesome.. I will be trying this..maybe not some much detail cause I don't have your skills but yeah I'm going to make the bootleg version
I don't know how to tell you this but my brother has bought some new guitar strings.... I was trying to get away from power tools and working in my father's shop in the end i worked on my wife's desk , this is all so i don't have to tidy my own work space Thanks for the kind words
Jim Beattie I think this was one of the those projects that just came out of the materials, almost as if plastic spoons deserve more out of life. I made this as a one off for my own curiosity, I do not sell fishing lures these days it takes time away from filming and more importantly fishing. As i keep saying i would love to go back and make a top water lure from this,
Well, its a great lure. I plan to make some top water wooden plugs which seem fairly simple to do, and I have some free time when I'm not fishing or running my business
This is great. I will be making these and others (might make a dragonfly larve lure, they would work great, probably do a soft plastic on of those) can you please send me a full list of exact materials or edit the description and include it like you do with your more recent vids? Thanks.
hey paul, were those spoons plastic? If so, that bait you could use only a couple times due to it cracking and braking after a fish bites it, just saying!
Very cool and creative. I guess it also makes me think that $6.00 for a lure might not be so expensive after all. If a big toothy fish cracked my home-made plastic lure that I spent all that time making, I would be depressed.

As a fishing enthusiast, nature and science lover, I do believe that is one of the most realistic lures ive EVER seen.
have you ever seen the juv. stage of a giant water beetle? that is one scary looking insect, i used to spend more time than i cared unblocking a water filter from a supply pond that held its fair share. cheers
Again another brilliant out-of-the-box design of yours , Paul , ....needless to say , that I'm pretty much amazed about your creativity ! Cheers , Dieter
Woooooow!!! You are extremely talented. You could easily put the lure companies out of business. Outstanding work my friend.
Thanks for kind words, i still get a buzz everytime i catch a fish with my own lures and i like the way you make it sound like boredom is a material, i wish i could make things out of boredom. Cheers
These are the videos I like to watch because I actually learn something, he is saving the environment, and saving his money to go to the fishing store to buy a lure that is almost like this one but breaks
the resin adds strength, the glass balloons make the resin less dense making the lure float when it is not attached to a drop shot weight. Thanks
i think with this one because i didn't know how i was going finish the lure when i started i kind of had to double back on myself, I should of through wired it before filling it, but there is always next time. It is always great to hear other peoples ideas on a project, i have learnt a lot from them...

Nice Job!!! Applause for camera work, angles, close-ups speed-ups was fun and a pleasure to watch Plus awesome CREATIVITY! LOOKS REAL AND A FISH KILLER!
It amazes me where you get your ideas from........another fantastic how to do video !!!!
the micro spheres make it float or in this case suspend(if there is such a thing), glass spheres are normally sold in boat shops as an addition to epoxy resin to make a lightweight filler, so it is not a rare item, i was going to try builder's expanding foam which probably would of made a more buoyant lure but i am not sure if it would react with the plastic spoons. this thing is a work of art. I'm sure it was fun to make. after all that, I'd be afraid to use the dang thing. awesome.
What a cool idea. Paul, you are an artist. Like I said before, I learn a lot from you.
i have a small band saw and a dremel, but i like working with my hands. To make it float i would have to add more micro balloons to the mix, or use a thinner gauge hook
cheers
Very bloody clever and enjoyable , as like all great artists you make it look so easy with simple tools
there is not a lot of strength in the spoons when hollow, the resin really gives it that but a lighter filler and there is no reason it shouldn't be a top water lure although it is not a very stable shape even weighted, i thought about a crawler type lure with wide wings but it would be great to see someone else's twist on it.

Very cool lure, love how it looks at the end. It's movement looks very natural too. Good job.
I have never seen more ingenuity in making lures The beetle was the best I have ever seen
However I bet your no fun at a picnic cause i do not want to eat with my fingers just kidding Fantastic Job
i used to but at the moment i enjoy making the videos and going fishing too much to spend time making stuff to sell.
Thanks
congratulations... this to me is artistic, it's inventive and has a noble purpose.
My respects.
Real art brother. Best thing I have seen in a while.

Wow!!!!!! Now that's what I call being creative. Nice work....
This was quite impressive. I also liked the editing for time, with the short speed-ups. -BAG2
Dude i must say you are really 1 smart cookie.... but thats a pretty big lure, and it would cost more to make it then it would just to go buy 1...... But really looks good and i am glad to see people with that kind of talent keep up the good work.
I can see the potential for turtle, small panfish, frog, all kinds of types of lures. This is cool.
Absolutely fantastic looking lure and it swims nicely too, bouncing at the bottom : )
Very good job and great video ! im getting so inspired that i might cancel my fishing trip tomorrow and do something fun and new to my lurepack..
Ya know i wouldnt even care if it didnt even catch anything, that bit a work of art. Great job for using a simple matirial looks great man.
at the moment diddly squat, it was designed as a winter lure so i have only tested for a few minutes at the local lake, hopefully when it starts to cool down and the pike are lying on the bottom again it will come into its own or not and will have a collection of useless teaspoons.
Trens de Pesca - Brasil - Muito bom esse trabalho, parabéns!

Paul un trabajo impresionante,mis felicitaciones
my dad was once the world record power lifter, id love to watch him do this, nice video

That was outstanding! Great job on the project and video.
I would love to know if you caught a fish with this.
Jeremiah Atkinson I caught a small pike, but i think i am going to come back to this lure soon as it is something i do not use that often
i can hear your breathing man, i'm sure its a hell of a job to finish this masterpiece..good job!!
OMG! This is amazing!! You my friend are an real fishing artist! Great video!
Man, I am beginning to think that you were out on this earth to make fishing lures. Been checking your videos out for about 6 months .. Great job. . I been making some zara spooks and when i need some info I seem to always look at yours especially clear cost and painting.
Definitely going to have to make this. It would also be great for a kid's science project.
eso es obra de arte amigo!! tienes talento you have talent.
Fantastic work mate. I'll have to try this.
I think this is my favorite of everything I've seen you make...
these are jewelry pliers, needle nose with a hollow, normally cost under £10

Wow that's cool ! Nice job ! Hey can u please do a vid on making a swimbait ?! Thanks tight lines .
What is the exact purpose of injecting the Micro Glass Spheres with the resin into the body cavity?
the swim bait is still on my list i suppose i am just looking for another way to come at

Amazing!!!!!!(from Brazil)
Interesting bait..Very creative...
You are excellent! This is so detailed, what gave you the idea Paul?
That's awsome great job it looks so real
So very cool! Great work
You are talented my friend. I'm liking and subbing.
Dude...That's Awesome.. I will be trying this..maybe not some much detail cause I don't have your skills but yeah I'm going to make the bootleg version
Attention to detail at its finest
I cannot sell you a lure because i need them to go fishing but you can buy as many plastic spoons as you want.
Thanks for asking
That is sick. Nice job!
You're mad you are! Brilliant, but mad! Thanks Paul.
Wow...!
Awesome Job!
Gorgeous job! Thanks!
the body is reinforced with polyurethane and micro balloons and as yet i have had no problems with it.
I don't know how to tell you this but my brother has bought some new guitar strings.... I was trying to get away from power tools and working in my father's shop in the end i worked on my wife's desk , this is all so i don't have to tidy my own work space Thanks for the kind words
A work of art. I just don't think I have the patience to make this, although you have explained it very clearly in the video. Do you sell them?
Jim Beattie I think this was one of the those projects that just came out of the materials, almost as if plastic spoons deserve more out of life. thats pretty cool could it be made to be a top water too
That is super cute! I would have put the weight inside it though
hey paul, were those spoons plastic? If so, that bait you could use only a couple times due to it cracking and braking after a fish bites it, just saying!
I really hope you never loose that thing!!!
it is just some plastic spoons, they get thrown away all the time
Maravilha de trabalho.
Nice work!
Very cool and creative.
I guess it also makes me think that $6.00 for a lure might not be so expensive after all.
If a big toothy fish cracked my home-made plastic lure that I spent all that time making, I would be depressed.
