Superb, thanks for the information. About to do this to one of my windows. May I ask a question? I have a couple of windows where there is a gap along the hinge side that let in draughts. Is this likely to be fixed by new hinges?
Yes it is, that is a sign that hinges are failing. You can see my video on replacing window hinges th-cam.com/video/BcixMxdx8VU/w-d-xo.html All the best 👍
I have a broken hinge that needs replacing on a top hung window, but instead of screws I have rivets holding the hinge to the frame. How do I get those out?
With a small HSS drill bit, about 5mm. Gently drill out the head of the rivet. Being aluminium it's quite soft. You will need either new rivets or fat screws to put it back together I hope it helps
Hi, here are couple of links for replacement hinges amzn.to/3OJdQG9 amzn.to/3SVskoZ There are two measurements to follow, length of the hinge, usually 8" 12" 16" and hinge stack hight 13 or 17mm
I'm sorry you feel that way, removal is showing at 2:40 . Top screws are last to be removed whilst holding casement itself firmly to prevent it from falling, because once the last top screw is removed, there is nothing securing the casement in place any more
Good explanatory tips; many thanks.
Thanks 👍🙂
Very good, done this once, and found it a bit tricky, needed help holding window for refitting.
Thanks, it is definitely tricky, I'm glad you've managed 🙂👍
Great video. Thanks for uploading.
Thanks 👍

Thank you for the reply
What oil do you use? Thanks
Silicon spray would be my first preference
(as this one

but any other spray oil is fine
Do you have a link to the window hinge?

Waste of time, you dont show the hardest part removing the screwsin the correct order so it doesnt go sailing to the ground
