Former crew here with more than a few years of experience in the cruise industry (Dining). While I must admit that I was paid well for my time, the wage is relative to my country of origin. Have you ever wondered why the majority of crew members are from Philippines, India or Indonesia? That's because they're willing to accept the harsh warking condition with low pay doing 9 month contracts away from home with no days off, they don't mind because they get paid in dollars and at the end of their contract they get to go back home and live like kings for a few months before their next contract were they come back and do it all over again. Don't get me wrong, it's a great oportunity for a lot of people in certain countries, but if you are from the states then yes, you could probably say you get paid relatively nothing compared to the tremendous amount of work that you will be doing.
That aside I have mad respects for Silvia here, she is the epitome of what a great dining room waitress should be and anyone would be lucky to have her work in their company.

Well, almost anyone can do what they do, given time and training. It's a relatively large pool of potential employees.
Not so with the CEO position. It's not something you can train someone into in a week like waiting tables.
I mean no offense, I've been a waiter for several years and now I run my own business. But there's a reason CEOs get paid a lot more. Good ones are a lot harder to come by. Being a server is far easier.

Although I think that is partially true, there’s a huge benefit for the superior to work a day/week/x length in a lower positions role. It allows for clearer understanding on things they can get to make their lives easier, things that can be streamlined, problems to be addressed, and just base recognition for how hard the job may be to handle. Even if it’s problems that were known to the people running that position, sometimes you need someone to do it themselves before they finally acknowledge it as a problem. An example being that frankly if I was in this CEOs shoes, I’d look into an elevator shaft to be installed, or a chute for the plates from the kitchen. Going up and down an escalator with a full tray where guests are also expected to navigate through, is just asking for a tipsy guest to bump into a several hundred dollar tray and set the kitchen back and disrupting the guests. That’s just poor design from the front door
