This boss is absolutely terrible and stingy. These people working overtime, long hours , not seeing family and you give them absolutely nothing that can benefit them.

$2500 ?? From Best Western ?? A multi million dollar company who easily got far more value from publicity for this ... They can write this off as a charitable donation. I won't be staying there again... this really bothers me... like alot... you did NOTHING for her personally after hearing she works 12 hour days without being paid for overtime. Being away from her family that obviously needs her... really really disappointed in Best Western... shame on you 😕

I can't believe this boss confirmed the problems faced by the cleaning team on camera but seemingly failed to actually address them.... not enough staff, very hard work, long hours, for little money. Sad.

Everyone: listen up! As a child, I accompanied my grandmother on her hotel room cleaning jobs. My husband does not understand why I am fussy about how I leave a motel or hotel room. My grandma worked herself to death. Leave your room tidy! Cleaners are not you personal servants.
Not to mention I’ve heard of guests being put on do not rent lists.

I work in the hospitality industry. I am disgusted that people leave the rooms in such shambles. Not only are we payed very little there's never much appreciation from guests or the company it's self. A simple thank you even would go a long way. Way to go undercover boss your words mean alot but your donated cheque will be a right off for you and she's still left at the same as she was before overworked and underpaid. What a trooper💜
The hotel I used to work for, Management very rarely helped and when they did, we often had to redo their work.

I used to be a hotel housekeeper. Some people think that bc they are paying for the room they can be pigs. It is disgusting and I personally think they should face a surcharge for the damage and extra time it takes to clean the rooms . In the 35 yrs since then I always wrap the used towels up and put them in the tub. I pick up any food wrappers or other trash, clean out the fridge and always leave a tip. Housekeepers are not paid to be garbage collectors and people should be embarrassed for trashing rooms like that.
I think personally think there should be a deposit paid that doesn't get returned if a room is left like this. Some people are pigs.

This is continued exploitation of a very committed member of staff. If you really appreciate her then give her and her team a significant raise. To use a phrase, put your money where your mouth is and be decent and respectful to your employees.

So happy to see customer service at its best. She is a jem. Stayed at a Best Western here in NY , it was grose. Blood on bathroom walls and dirty sheets. Thay had manager that did not care. 🦋

Perhaps my standards are different, but I didn't particularly find the leadership to be too sympathetic. Perhaps their business is in trouble, if so, the bonus was kind but if they are just tone deaf, then it wasn't very generous at all and could have been given to play to the audience... Just sharing my opinions

I spent a short time working in Housekeeping for a hotel. What shocks me is that this man can see how hard these women work every day and didn't even consider any kind of payrate increase for employees. Paying anyone barely the minimum wage is vile. You can get a job at McDonald's for around $15-$16 an hour here, yet the hotels still pay their staff around $7.25. NO ONE should be paying anyone single digit dollar values anymore. Period.
My job is the same way. Less people and more work. Smh

The hotel industry is nasty and management known to do little to nothing. Guests are pigs and those ladies work hard to keep rooms clean to standards. This boss deserves a purpled derrière for his one cell brain. May his hotel go bankrupt !

I believe that Undercover boss should not only be for store managers, but also for base employees, such as cashiers, cooks, etc.
He said nothing about hiring more workers or increasing pay or PTO, so basically, her life remains miserable.
He didn't even give her a paid vacation for all her hard work!

If the boss is only paying them minimum wage then he should not be expecting them to clean so many rooms in a small amount of time. The cleaner the room the longer it's gonna take. About 30 minutes to an hour even.

Wow. They need masks and gloves. Ten minutes is not enough time to clean and sanitize this mess. When I Stay, I use my own linen, my own towels, pillows and personals ( soap, tissue, paper towels. etc) I leave my room cleaner than when I arrive.. Please be kind to the room cleaners.. human filth is dangerous. This is an honest job so we should not be making it worse for the workers

Yeah well that's nothing compared to some of these motel 6 hotels in the united states lol they allow ppl to stay for yrs as if it's an efficiency and many actually call it home, even crossing the line allowing ppl to have welcome mat's at their room doors and those cheesey Live Laugh Love pics in their windows for passing thru guest to see..I worked at the motel 6 directly across from a major amusement park (Carowinds) and the business this company is losing is absurd by allowing ppl to live and remain in these rooms for yrs as opposed to the traveling tourists that come thru year round to the amusement park. Guest end up passing up the hotel just o pay more to the more expensive hotel quarter mile down the road rather than stay at motel 6 with permanent living adults taking up the majority of the hotel which anyone with any common sense knows that leaves the door open for criminal and drug activity as well.. Not a good look at all especially for families passing thru for the weekend's.. not only that the staff is extremely under paid and yes that's absolutely true how they place a time cap on the amount of time housekeeping is allowed per room and that's a huge problem seeing as how each room is different, you never know what you're walking into nor the mess waiting. Ppl can be absolutely nasty and disgusting, there's just no way one can pre determine what they'll walk into so the 20 min per room cleaning cap is just ridiculous ntm these hotels specifically this motel 6 employees these long term "residents" and tbh 8 outta 10 of them are in fact drug addicts and they entice them by allowing weekly room credits and an extremely pathetic hourly pay and paycheck just enough to keep someone stuck and in that pay/living loop where once you've entered that tornado effect it's extremely hard to get out. After the COVID pandemic hit is when everything went to shit and it's just been this way ever since. You can't clean filthy rooms (some so disgusting) within a 20min cap and not expect your hotel to go from actually being a pretty nice and a family oriented pass thru hotel while vacationing and weekend visiting to the amusement park to an drug infested criminal by- efficiency ran hotel that when a nice family drives thru the parking lot says "NOPE !! Hun I'd rather pay double and let's go across the street rather than stay here" I've worked here and trust me this so called housekeeping staff will literally have you sleeping on sheets that haven't been changed thru numerous guest and you don't even wanna know how they clean the bathrooms.. It's germ infested and unsanitary.
