Yes, the school dances where you actually had the dances at the school. Now a days they book another venue to have their school dances. I am a grandmother of four and I have a great grandson. Time sure flies. Kids today do not get to enjoy what we did. I really hate to tell you this, but one of the two founders of Player, Peter Beckett, was born and raised in Liverpool, England. He moved to Los Angeles to join a band called Skyband, which broke up after one album. Sadly, Beckett's wife left him and returned to England by the time he formed Player with American musician, JC Crowley. Crowley was also going through a breakup at the time, so they both channeled their feelings into writing the song "Baby Come Back". Beckett sang lead on the track. Crowley sang the line, “Nothing left for me” during the bridge. "Baby Come Back" was the breakthrough single for the band, gaining them mainstream success, and hitting number one, knocking label-mates The Bee Gees’ “How Deep Is Your Love” from the top spot. 🤩
Thank you very much for that bit of history; it makes the song and the group's efforts even more meaningful and beautiful knowing the motivations and feelings behind the song.

When I saw the song, you were reacting to, I slowly nodded my head.... I always thought, growing up, that this was just some "old song", I'd hear on late-night informercials but I've come to discover, it's the real deal! This song's a straight up, vibe! I've got countless jams, now, from the 70s, that I put on the playlist and they are just not coming off! This is one, there's actually so many, too many to list., Dr Hook "Sharing The Night Together" is another song for ya know, gettin' in the mood for sharing the night together 😉 It's not just the slow jams from the 70s-80s that are amazing, all the r&b, funk, post-disco, etc from that period is enough music to never run out of jams! Man, I should have listened to my parents in the 90s but kids will be kids and at first, revolt against our parents and their generation, only to come to realize, their experiences and tastes are valid and music from their era(s) are worth listening to .
Love this song so much & lead Peter Becket sure could sing as well as the others in the band. Love the lyrics “wearing a mask of false bravado” & most young people may not even know what that means. Love your reactions, thanks for sharing.
In a similar time and space (sometimes referred to as “yacht rock”) there is also the band Pablo Cruise and their songs “Whatcha Gonna Do” and “Love Will Find a Way”.
Gotta love the 70s! Everything was so silky and shiny. The hair, the clothes, and even the nylons were sparkly. I remember slow dancing to this! ❤❤❤❤🎉🎉

Great reaction!!! My top 5 love songs of all time.
This is one of my favorite songs from the 70s. It takes me back to my college days.
Who remembers Ridge Forrester, who entered our homes every day with 'The Bold and the Beautiful', the famous soap opera he starred in for 25 years? We're talking (of course) about Ronn Moss! ❤
Love that song! Brings back memories. ❤️✌🏻🎶
U better believe I had the 45 and played it over and over and over. Singin ALL the harmonies. Excellent production
