That part was always so creepy to me tbh. I had actually grown to despise Rhea over time in my first play through so the fact that I was able to choose the CF route was super convenient lol

“I will be watching over you always. Always and forever.” That’s one of my favorite lines in the game. I am by no means a Rhea fan, but there are certain scenes and moments in all routes that make me feel so sorry for her.
I put down my controller for about an hour because I was conflicted when I had to make a choice between Rhea and Edelgard. I like Rhea more but I couldn't grow anymore support for her past C because I apparently missed the opportunity to unfortunately and at that point I said screw it and went with Edelgard despite not wanting to.
Figured my next playthrough I can focus more on giving her gifts and what not. Just didn't make sense for me to stay with her if I didn't develop a bond in-game though.

This character is so tragic, I don't understand how she can be so hated. Yes, she made mistakes, but after so many years of suffering, we all would do the same
People forget of much of an horror being immortal is and she saw her race getting killed.
honestly, Rhea manage really well her self after everything has happened and she STILL believe in humanity, bc Shamir, Catherine, Jeralt and many more were saved by her, by her compassion. She act like a loving mother, but nobody can take enemies without fighting back. Yes, Rhea went savage in some route in three houses and hopes, but you can understand that she is trying to defend herself angaist the wolrd itself like the empire, the alliance in rare cases, argathian and many more. She did her best, and not many see this of her, but I think is bc the game doesnt let interact more with her character in confont of the main cast sadly
because she has been set against the revolutionary woman figure, so Rhea will always be demonized but just reflecting on her story, she witnessed her entire race get eliminated, the progenitor of their peoples risk her life not for her people but for humans, and is now left with the remains of a cataclysmic conflict that led to the creation of crest bloodlines and sacred weapons.
Setting up a society that systemically oppressed people and violently destroying anyone who even thinks that it was unjust for hundred and hundreds of years isn't a "mistake"

I wish sincerely they had made a DLC where you by mistake Divine Pulsed yourself into the past and actually got to see Rhea and her tribe and Sothis before she was mini. It would have been interesting. Or even play as Rhea for the DLC side story. It would have been so much fun if they had done a DLC like this. Cindered Shadows was fun but felt lacking and the last boss was soooooo frustrating.

Yeah! It would have been great to see her and her tribe. I wish the DLC took place in a distant past where we could have fought as the Nabateans and somehow save them
I know this is a seven month old comment, but I like these DLC ideas. And I'm very surprised we haven't gotten more DLC for Three Houses since then. I don't know how much of it is due to pandemic issues, but it's sad we didn't get any DLC similar to the Awakening and Fates DLCs.

As much as the first part would be cool, lorewise (not combat gameplay-wise), Byleth couldn't even divine pulse far enough to save Jeralt, much less thousands of years back.

When this part hit me in A Funeral of Flowers, I genuinely cried.
As someone who has mother and faith issues,
Rhea's story makes me cry.
It can't excuse her actions, it CAN'T excuse them.

Fun fact; there's a real civilization called the Nabateans. They lived near what's now Jordan shortly before the Romans arrived in that region, and built the Petra monument (no relation to the Queen of Brigid).

I've played all 7 routes of the Fodlan saga, as well as Cindered shadows. I have now reached my conclusion.
Rhea is best girl.
While Edelgard represents the youthful desire to forge your own path, break tradition and change the world, Rhea represents the elder desire to hang onto tradition and revive cherished memories so they may never die.
Rhea did horrible, terrible things. So did Edelgard. Both only wanted to see their desires fulfilled, as they really had nothing else to live for.
Can you really call either one a villain? I wouldn't say so. A person who sings so sincerely and passionately about a burning treasured memory and her desire to see it revived can't possibly be evil. Only misguided.
Amazing fact I just found out. This voice actor stars in the Wlaking Dead game, and sings “The Night Will Be Over Soon”. Both songs are amazing and I can’t believe I never connected them before.

I went in not knowing this, and waited so many in-game months for her to be playable. I was so disappointed I almost quit the game til April 30th, but here I am playing Blue Lions because I don't want to be spoiled.
the english singer here sounds so rich and full. i wonder why the disparity between the japanese and english versions? i would think whoever was recording these two singers would've asked for them to sing in similar sounds but instead english rhea sounds like an opera singer while japanese rhea sounds like a pop singer?
The only reason people play with the Japanese audio is cause they are weebs. I love the english voice cast.
Cherami Leigh absolutely steals the show when it comes to the voices in this game. I love how she’s able to do the serene yet creepy voice in part 1 to completely enraged and unhinged in part 2
Well it would sound very different on account of it being sung not only in a different dialect, but a different alphabet. Language changes so much about how you sound. It would really depend upon which sound you're more familiar with. My father introduced me to Japanese media very early, so I have an easy time absorbing a language I can't understand at all. However, if you're used to our Latin-Germanic tongue, it sounds really weird. The Japanese also place a great deal of value on youth and innocence. As such, they train girls to talk in a higher pitch. I think it's called burriko or something like that. So even if they ask for a woman's real voice in something, burriko is still in the back of her head. I think it's stupid, but I'm also not Japanese. Keep in mind that I haven't even heard the Japanese version, so I'm kind of just shooting in the dark.

Being a Catholic makes you really appreciate what it means to be Serios in her situation and with respect to Sothis. Rhea is basically on the verge of draconic madness by the time you meet her in the game, but I have faith that she was a just and loving "Pope" to the people of Fodlan as history claims her to have been from the end of the old war up until when you meet her. Idk what Intelligent Systems was thinking making the name of her title "arch-bishop;" If anyone, Seteth and Flayn should have been the archbishops lol. After all, the end of Silver Snow places you as the new Pope of Fodlan basically - taking Rhea's original place as a just and holy leader. Kinda weird since Byleth is basically Jesus/Sothis but whatever.
PeaS: Is it weird how the past three Fire Emblem games have all had important songs sang by the Dragon of each game which references events that happen in the game while sounding SUPER good?
I’d say it’s because Pope is a very specific and originally informal title for the Bishop of Rome whereas “Archbishop” is a more general purpose term that can apply even to non Christian religions, originally derived from the Greek word “Episkopos”, meaning “overseer”

I love this song, I go to sleep to it.
Rhea is such a compelling character. Up until she kills Nemesis and takes over Fodlan, she is a typical protagonist. The last of her kind (sort of), banding together with humans to stop a tyrant and avenge her people. It isn't until she gains massive influence over Fodlan that her actions become less savory. She establishes a system meant to keep humans from progressing both in an effort to "preserve" the land until Sothis returns, and also because she's seen what humanity can do and fears their potential for destruction. And at the end of the game, no matter what route you take, she loses in one way or another - either killed outright or slowly fading away from her wounds. Fodlan changes whether she likes it or not - in large part due to the very goddess she adored.
Wow I can't believe that this is the same person who voices Lucy Heartfilia from Fairy Tail.....

I always thought this song is similar to the Song Of Healing.....
People say she experimented on humans but there is no evidence of this being the case. Based on what we know about Sitri, it seems incredibly likely that rhea used her own blood to create artificial humans/nabateans. Like a homonculus of sorts. If Sitri's treatment by rhea was the norm, then these 12 previous individuals were as sickly and weak as Sitri and were able to peacefully live to their last breath. After Rhea deems you a failure, she doesn't dismiss you as a failure. She starts to treat Byleth as their own person, and begins to accept the possibility that sothis is never coming back. We just don't see much of that newfound acceptance, because Edelgard has to be an annoying brat. Even when the text and subtext clearly spell it out for you, people still have hatred for rhea. Creating life just to used as a vessel is not the greatest thing, but when they demonstrated as failures, she didn't try to force them afterwards. They presumably lived the rest of there short lives without being tortured/experimented by Rhea. It cannot be compared to TWSITD. What they did was INFINITELY worse then what Rhea did. They didn't stop experimenting on Edelgard's siblings until they were dead, and even after they still used materials/ blood from the dead children until Edelgard finally manifested the crest of flames. Did the argarthans give that same mercy rhea did to their victims. No. And yet people believe that rhea is on the same level. Only when Rhea finally snaps does she begin to slowly reach their level. Even then Rhea didn't do the Tragedy of duscor, nor did she carry out the genocide of duscur. Rhea has only faced genocide and extinction.

I question if rheas only experiment was putting sothis inside byleth, maybe she put the consciousness of the player inside Byleth and that's why byleth was successful, maybe it wasn't sothis at all she wanted to awaken but the player perhaps was her true goal, maybe sothis talked to the other ones rhea experimented on but without the player it was futile

I honestly think Gazing at Sirius is way creepier, especially in the context that it usually plays when Rhea is passing judgement. But that would be interesting if someone took the vocals of this song and put ambient music behind it.

,Something about Reah threw me off instantly the first time I saw her, I never trusted her words and after playing through all the routes, yeah no she should never had stayed in her position for as long as she did. Never mind the whole founding a religion to depict yourself as a saint (narcisist much?) but an immortal should never hold a position of power. Then there's the whole executing people without any form trial. I wholeheartedly with Edelgard on this one.
She only executed people who tried to kill her.

I think that map design is definitely the game's biggest shortcoming, especially after the fantastic map design of Fates and Awakening on 3DS (say what you will, but they had amazing map design, especially Conquest). But it's not as bad as Echoes's Maps... Especially Celica's.
I think the game deserves a good 8.6 score, amazing, but really nothing too outstanding.
