I agree I love all of them for very different reasons although I would say Apex of The World is my favourite. I love a good reprise of the main theme for the final boss makes everything feel like it’s come full circle or something and it just fits the end of Azure Moon perfectly.

Pearse Molloy a reprise of the Edge of Dawn is great especially for the routes it’s used in but it just feels like an epic instrumental of it whereas the others reflect the battles of their respective routes
@@lunasus7924 Idk if ur still playing it but the best strat is to ignore everyone on the right and go left. Once you get to edelgard just keep everyone as close to the left as possible, also have a healer (I use marianne because she's immaculate) alive and nearby.
My favorite part of this theme is how it sounds like a triumphant battle in the grid, them becomes incredibly solemn in the actual battles. It completely flips what FE had been doing up this point with the music on its head and shows that the fight isn't some triumphant battle against a big bad dragon. It's a sad, painful battle against the very woman who made you who you are. You'd just killed Edlegard to get Rhea back. Dimitri is dead and Claude is missing. She's the only guiding light left and now you have to kill her, too. It sucks, but that's what makes it so great
We're so used to triumphant battles to move the story. Now they're actually painful and emotional, which is so good.

@@ilikefriez3161 funniest part is that he doesn't really die, until credits where it says he died of his wounds after the war. I s-supported Thea so she lived, despite tanking 2 nukes to the face, but Seteth getting cut a bit about a year ago in a setting with healing magic? DEAD.
This really encapsulates Rhea’s anguish and sorrow over the loss of her mother... I love how, regardless of which path you choose, you can sympathise and connect with each character and their motives.
Veera That’s really the strongest part of the game, all of the characters are both right and wrong, and none of them are truly good or bad people, just people who do both good and bad things.

@@irritantegast2131 What I was referencing in first part of my comment wasn't the routes, it's how some stories/movies portray one side as completely good and the other as completely evil. That's what I like about Three Houses; it's morally gray, and there is no Golden Ending.
This kind of reminds me of how powerful "Don't Speak Her Name!" was when I first heard it. Few songs give me that same feeling...

@@HiddenGemCollector Look, with fore knowledge of the fight, so can prepare well, especially if you've previously played a Maddening run, so it's not hard. But, there's three things that do make Silver Snow's final boss the hardest
1. The starting position. Immediately, you're surrounded by strong ass troop and a few of the very powerful white beasts. On Azure Moon and Verdant Wind, you can slowly advance, gaining more ground and eventually terrain advantage, on Crimson Flower, they kinda come to you so you can kinda just camp. There's no Safe Space or Gradual Advance, you're just thrown into combat from the get go.
2. The Immaculate One. Crimson Flower Rhea has nothing on this one, as she she regenerates completely if even one White Beast is alive, use the extremely powerful multi hit Hoarfrost everything, meaning Armour all 9 squares in one turn, or watch her just but back the armour and you know, on Maddening, the most HP in FE History.
3. The lack of a house leader. Dimitri, Edelgard and Claude are such good units, extremely good Battalions and gambits, great personal skills, Immensely high stats, their personal classes are fantastic and the relics are just wow, Failnaught has mad range and hit, Areadbhar is THE one hit obliterator and Aymr's Raging Storm is so disgustingly busted I don't want to talk about it. Seteth's good and all, but he just does not replace Edelgard. Not having two intentionally extremely versatile and powerful units (Byleth and house leader, this case, Edelgard) is a massive blow.

Seteth is one of the best characters in Three Houses because he experienced everything Rhea did but he didn’t let himself be restrained by the past like her
Probably because Seteth was never alone. He had to keep looking forward, not only for himself, but for his daughter. Rhea was left without someone she could really call a "family"
@@kristophesiem5336 There is also the fact that Rhea lived at Zanado and saw the shit that happened first hand, while Seteth (along with the other Saints) were living far away and didn't witness the events. That stuff is bound to scar you mentally forever. And, y'know, since Nemesis & Co used the bones of her people for their weapons, the bodies must have been...messed up.

I really like listening to the soundtrack again and seeing the subtle nods, such as while the most songs are orchestral, whereas any involving Those Who Slither uses dubstep, until you reach Shambala, where you’re finally in their territory, and it goes full dupstep.

I still get chills when Song of the Nabateans kicks in at 1:39. Something about hearing it literally as Rhea's boss music, knowing that it was originally a lullaby Sothis wrote for her children, just really gets to me. Because in a way, SS's final battle is about putting Rhea to sleep after she stayed awake for too long. Dragon madness, particularly caused by extended periods of regular consciousness, is a common theme in several Fire Emblem games. It's why they are manaketes instead of constantly maintaining dragon form, and even then manaketes need to sleep for extended periods of time to preserve their sanity (like Tiki). Medeus, Mila, Duma, and Anankos are prime examples of dragons living too long while refusing to rest who succumb to madness. That's Rhea here. She spent thousands of years awake, trying to keep Fodlan, her surviving family, and her mother's heart safe. Silver Snow's ending is the culmination of all of that effort and stress finally taking it's hold on her.
So there's just something so very fitting, and so very sad, that part of her boss theme is Sothis' lullaby.
this might be late but, Mila never degenerated. it's her big brother, Duma, that degenerated. she even had the compassion and was still in a sane mind to save her brother by sacrificing herself (that is, being stabbed by the Falchion), "so that it will be deemed unusable and her brother will not be killed" (because it is known that Falchion is the only thing that can kill Gods, and only certain "chosen" individuals like Alm or Marth can wield it). she eventually found her actions to be foolish though, and came to realize that Duma truly needs to be "put out of his misery" (by that I mean, be killed).
@@dealuxe_7545 I've seen the read that Mila *had* slid into dragon madness to a degree, but it was less obvious because instead of hers being destructive, her madness was blind, smothering love. Her protectiveness grown to a point where it was no longer entirely rational. She was definitely a lot saner than Duma though absolutely.
@@kjelfalconer I agree with this take. Zofia's king *stole one of Mila's priestesses away in the night under her nose* and she never made a fuss about it. That, along with the scene where Rudolf meets her, showed that she was definitely beginning to slip down the path of degeneration.

I'll admit I haven't played FE3/12, but I thought Medeus never succumbed to madness. His hatred of humanity is genuine, not brought on by some kind of mania.
A bit of a personal theory of mine is that all the routs are canon because Byleth keeps resting time trying to find a way to save everyone, but to no avail. It's full of holes but still sad none the less.
I have a head cannon very similar to this with byleth following the route he chose and then living out his life until he got to cf where he loses god powers.
I think that something like this is going to happen with Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes

I really wish they had made Rhea playable as the main lord in Silver Snow it would have made the route way more interesting and a better counterpart to Crimson Flower. Rhea is gone for most of Part 2 and when she does eventually show up again you talk to her a couple times and then you have to fight her. I think her being the final boss would have resonated a lot more if you instead spent that time fighting alongside her similarly to how you have to fight Edelgard after being allies in Part 1 of Black Eagles.
I agree ! Another thing that would have been heart breaking to see is if Byleth somehow transformed into a dragon due to Sothis, and that he/she was the final boss. That would've been especially nice in BE, and would have made me cry a whole lot.

@@radicaldude8988 I thought about it and (if you are somehow interested) I think this is how things could have been done. In the BE route, post time skip, Byleth suddently experiences weird moments of agressivity, as if she was briefly loosing control of her actions (he/she could perhaps hurt a student to showcase that, or even kill Flayn/Seteth very violently). Edelgard and Hubert start to understand that something isn't right, and in the final battle, Rhea reveals that she had performed a secret ritual to speed the awakening of Sothis. At first, she had planned to do it right after meeting Byleth, but she eventually got to like him/her very much, and thus tried to find a way to make both Sothis and Byleth coexist, as she cares deeply for them both. But now ? Now she knows that she is going to loose, so she doesn't care anymore. If she dies, and she will die, she just wants to make sure that Sothis lives, and that Edelgard suffers. And, killing herself, as her blood is the last ingredien for the ritual, Byleth turns into a dragon, and the final boss. He/she lives if there's and S support for Edelgard or Hubert (because it's the only path you can marry them), dies otherwise.
Silver Snow is a mess, but I still think Seteth makes sense as the main lord. Rhea was the final boss of Crimson Flower for a reason, she’s way stronger than any individual character, so making her playable would mean nerfing her and undercutting that fight. Seteth on the other hand is just a regular warrior, so he works. He’s pretty much the only good part of that route for me, and I wish they went all out and made it more focused on him and Byleth than Byleth and Rhea

The reason that Seteth has major Cichol holy blood is because he’s actually Saint Cichol himself, and by extension a Nabatean, same as Rhea. However, the reason neither he nor Flayn can go sicko mode like Rhea and the other saints can is because he has lost his ability to transform, and Flayn isn’t even able to yet. In other words, the game just kind of said “no manaketes for you.”
You ever thought if Kronya didnt kill Jeralt he eventually would have to be killed by Byleth in Silver Snow because he was carrying Rhea's blood with him, and when Rhea got corrupted so did the knights of seiros. If you have seen the cutscene before Rhea goes berserk you'll know what I'm talking about

@@heyitzmae No way. He's the very first person in the game to express distrust of Rhea for what she did to his family. Jeralt would have almost certainly been on board with Edelgard along with Byleth, and even if he somehow weren't, he'd 100% desert (again) before hurting his child.
Hell, that's almost certainly the *reason* he was murdered; to drive a wedge between Byleth and Edelgard, in order to rob her of the support of the one person that could have helped her accomplish her goals without having to rely on the Agarthans.

The incest thing isn't the problem for me (especially since they literally aren't related). It's more that I just don't feel the same romantic vibes towards her as I would towards someone like Annette or Marianne. I feel more of a mother-son relationship with Rhea
@@pademelon2216 You don't have to have romantic feelings to S rank anyone in this game, although my favourite ended up being Rhea out of the other ones i married, Mercede's is kinda boring, Lysithea is nice but Rhea gets better development in her S so it was better. Aslo i didnt want Rhea to die

Silver Snow Rhea: a sad character with a twisted fate that nearly destroyed Fodlan against her own will
Imagine giving someone a job, caring about him like a mother and even giving him a relic weapon, because you trust him so much. He then proceeds to support thieves who steal all the relics, supports someone who wants the church to be completely destroyed (a community she spent her entire life on building up) and straight up goes murdering the only 2 people that were important in your life. Trust me if i were in that situation i would take more drastic actions than burning down a city just to kill this stupid backstabbing ungrateful shit that only betrayed you because his "waifu" sadly was a psychopath. Rhea did nothing wrong.
Hector4President Rhea founded an empire solely to bring an army into a personal (though understandable) beef with a bandit, performed human experiments for her own selfish benefit, made a religion out of her own teachings, created a lopsided class system based on crests and pretty much killed anyone who dared questioned it, including giving you an ultimatum to kill your own student or else. I would say Rhea did plenty wrong. She isn’t exactly perfect either

Even if it is still technically human experimentation, she created Byleth's mother and then, if what she says is true, gave Byleth the crest of Sothis because they were BOTH going to die if she didn't, allowing him/her to actually have a life rather than stay D.O.A., and even felt regret for using him/her as a vessel for Sothis during a prior conversation to that reveal. So yes, she is deeply flawed and not above using others to do terrible things, but depending on the route you choose, the perspective in which she is shown can vary drastically.

At around 1:39, there's a very slow, very faint heartbeat in the background, which adds /so/ much to the sheer emotion this song evokes, especially when playing the final battle in Silver Snow. I absolutely love how much thought and effort went into composing this track.

I always thought it represented the fact that she is heartless (both literally and figuratively)
I realized that the 4 leaders of Three Houses have something in common.
Dimitri wanted to do good, but he was too filled with revenge to do so
Claude wanted to do good, but he gave up before even starting.
Edelgard and Rhea wanted to do good, but their awful actions and their past trapped them.
They all wanted to do good but something stopped them on all of the routes except their own.
Another way of thinking about it: Byleth is the reason they were able to do good. The protagonist is the common thread that keeps each of the house leaders true to themselves.
Without Byleth, Dimitri dies a meaningless death soaked in the blood of both himself and others, only caring about his next kill.
Without Byleth, Claude never has the follow-through to realize his ambitions, and eventually fades away into the recesses of history.
Without Byleth, Edelgard resorts to siding with Those Who Slither in the Dark, and literally destroys herself to realize her dream.
Without Sothis, Rhea is aimless and hollow-allowing herself to be captured or succumbing to madness.
Byleth is the common driving force that grounds everyone, and gives them the drive to see their ambitions realized in a truly good way.
@@Aybeece Technically we could even extend the train of thought to Cindered Shadows in a lesser form. Without Byleth, Yuri would not have had an opportunity to rise beyond his past mistakes. Heck, the only way for the Ashen Wolves to leave Abyss in the maintimelines is for Byleth to recruit them, so that is a funny parallel.

Byleth Is the only person to change Claude for the good and making Edelgard less evil and filled with self rightusness. Dimitri Is a good boy in all routes (even in if in 3 hopes he Is not blinded by Revenge, I think 3 houses Dimitri changed the world in Better with the Aid of Byleth)
And Byleth is the one keeping them together.

Honestly, I really like the title "A Funeral of Flowers" for this song. It feels like its mourning for both Edelgard and Rhea.
The song doesn't really fit Edelgard though, since the main chorus is a remix of Song of the Nabateans, Rhea's theme

The fact they included Sothis’s lullaby in this definitely upped how emotional this is
Rhea grew on me as a character. I was super distrustful of her in Blue Lions, but the more I played, the more I found out, and the more sympathy I felt for her, even if I don't agree with some of the things she does.
Yeah her Character is like studying the history of the Catholic Church. Everyone thinks, it's evil, but then they realize that it never had the power to make the world better, though the real life church is more corrupt, you get the point.

Me too. I thought she was super sketchy at first but after she revealed the truth of why Byleth exists to us I couldn't help but feel bad for her. She did some pretty fucked-up things, but ultimately she just wanted to see her mother one last time, and she didn't even get to have that. The saddest part about it all is that she ultimately died by the hands of her mother she tried to hard to bring back.

It’s perfect since this was the final route I chose. The music was definitely a good send off for me. Havent touched the game since but this truly does have a special place in my heart

The pain in Seteth's dialogue man. The voice acting in this game is so fckin amazing
this was sad enough but when Rhea's theme came in at 1:38 it really clicked how much she had to suffer and endure with only two allies that truly understood her pain. Only to succumb to dragon degeneration and destroy everything she tried to protect
most of the time i kind of mindlessly play the game and don't listen to the music very closely, but when i heard song of the nabateans kick in i got fuckin chills. it really showed how this battle wasn't an epic final showdown, it was a tragic battle against a tragic, broken woman who succumbed to her own emotional instability. that ending cutscene gives me chills every damn time
Words will never describe how much this theme means to me. I have never FELT a final boss theme so well execute before. Silver Snow was the last route I played out if the four, and it made everything feel so much much worse, all the of the lords are either dead or missing. Some of your students are dead or missing. Fódlan is in shambles, and the one woman who could possibly put it back together has succumbed to the insanity of dragonism, and you have to kill her now. This song starts strong and intense and it’s beautiful yet so tragic. When I initiated combat for the first time and I heard the song go to a solemn piano solo, my heart sank. The quiet beautiful notes of the thunder mix while my units fought just filled me with sadness and reminded me of the madness of it all. So many people you care about are dead. So many dreams crushed. You are putting one of the last lights of hope to rest. It is truly a funeral of flowers.

If you marry Sothis in the Silver Snow route it definitely would look like Byleth is a broken man/woman by that point, they became emotional after starting to be a professor, they then have to watch many students die, watch leaders of the houses die or go missing and finally watch Rhea die too, it would be no surprise to see it's finally pushed them over the edge.
This song is so powerful, and while Apex of the World and God-Shattering Star both get the attention they deserve, I feel this one doesn’t. It’s not a triumphant theme like the others, it’s a requiem for the woman who not only led the organization you’re fighting for, but is the only mother figure you’ve ever had. I had to kill her in my first SS playthrough, and so my second I made sure to marry her just so she wouldn’t die (well, and also because I love her character)

I really love how this song is comprised of other soundtracks, especially the part where remnants of Unfulfilled can be heard. It's like it's reflecting and yearning the past, much like one would do at a funeral, and lamenting how things can longer be as they once were. The Song of the Nabateans and the monastery themes mixed in make that much more better, making it one of my favorite soundtracks from this game.

This is a phenomenal soundtrack for a final boss, especially in a series like Fire Emblem where the final battle is usually associated with a glorious fight for justice and freedom. There is nothing happy or triumphant or glorious about defeating Rhea in this final map. It's tragic, yet beautiful, and this soundtrack captures that perfectly.
(That is, unless you only played SS because of Edelgard and would've joined the "kill god" side if not for her.)

This game was such a treat. The stinging betrayal of Edelgard, and having to end Rhea. This is a game that isn't afraid to tackle nuanced story and characters and the harsh decisions one must make really keeps this game lodged in my memory. I'll never forget the horror of having to choose with Edelgard.
This... just make you feel like you turned wrong somewehere.
You are there, fighting in the flames, looking at everything you know just falling in pieces. Whetever the side you chose back then... something just feels off.
I can just imagine Byleth, paralyzed on the battlefield, thinking about what the hell is everyone doing, and why is he there.

Since Silver Snow was the first route I completed, this last fight hit me hard. After sobbing my life out from the cutscene before (I have no idea why it made me cry so much it just did), I was now forced to kill Rhea. Also the fight was so hard, I hate those golems with all of my heart. Also Flayn died on accident :(

A masterpiece, one of my favorites from the soundtrack. The piano section dueling with the violin is phenomenal, one of the best sections I've heard in the series. Outstanding composition and arrangement, the cello is also immaculate.

Silver Snow was the last route I had to do, so I decided to do it on Hard mode for a challenge (The only trouble the other routes had given me was Hegemon Edelgard sniping me from across the map, considering my Byleth + the Lord were usually 5 levels above the bosses).
The recommended level for this map was 42, and my strongest units ranged from 35-40. I was forced to strategically plan out gambits, unit positions, and even just rely on crits and luck to get past the white beasts and golems that were thrown at me. One white beast gave me so much trouble that I unknowingly burned all of my divine pulses, which meant I had to use even more strategy.
Between baiting out enemies, and manoeuvring my army around Rhea, as well as the fight with her itself, this map took me 60 turns. 3 of my units lost all durability on their weapons, and half of them fell before the fight was over.
It was the most fun I have had in a Fire Emblem map.
I'm playing on maddening and I am on a similar situation. But.. in my case... I got to the turn 99 (i didn't know there was a 100 turn limit) and lost because I was forced to throw everything at rhea on the last minute lol

I like Silver Snow (no playable Rhea not withstanding) but that would've been so sick.
@Wisdom Cyril would definitely have more of a role in the GD story if Almyra would be explained more, instead of him being a background character that shows up in a single cutscene if you recruit him. Or, if you didn't recruit Cyril, he'd help you in Chapter 18, which I would LOVE! Claude should've also had more of a role in VW because he's the lord, instead of him adding nothing to the story in almost every post-timeskip chapter.
Silver Snow was my first route in Three Houses and it was also my first Fire Emblem game I have ever played and I think it took me about 5 hours to complete this battle. It really is an amazing and emotional game.

That's the thing about Three Houses, is that no route has a golden ending. You're left at the end of each route with a bitter sweet ending.

I played Silver Snow first and damn did this route break my heart. I was drawn to Edelgard so figured I'd do her route first. Didn't even know there was a split in her path and when I found out, I figured I'd play Crimson Flower last. But holy crap I was broken when I had to kill Edelgard and then the game is making me also kill Rhea? Literally devastated, I cried during the final cutscene

this song gives you the exact feeling you need in this moment, you are in an epic fight with a huge dragon but that dragon is also someone you love and treasure a lot
You know, there’s 4 places the Monastery Theme appears. 1. The first monastery exploration theme (duh). It’s where you associated that jaunty little theme with your students. 2. The grieving monastery exploration song, which is the one which happens after Jeralt does. 3. The Long Road, which capitulates the theme in the last main battle theme in the game, which implies that the only place you see all the students from those old days is on the battle field. And 4. here in A Funereal for Flowers. Which is kinda perfect. It’s the return to the monastery to save what’s left from certain doom, so playing it here makes a lot of sense.

Underrated theme, probably one of the best ones in the game.
My last route of the game was the church route, I kinda thought it was just “okay” but I feel that’s partly due to me starting with blue lions and doing crimson flower right before. Killing edelgard for the 3rd time was ruff on me.
I did church first. The cutscene was brutal for me. Byleth just swings the sword so suddenly, and the music just stops.

Yeah that's the thing. Church as the final route (it was mine as well-I did BE, BL, GD, and Church, after having a bit of a break from the Eagles) is pretty underwhelming but I can see how it hits hard for those who do it as their first or second.

You know in my head canon Rhea is probably at the "Dragons Azheimer " age so she would have gone made no matter what.
In this timeline Edelgard is informed by the Argathens what a thread Rhea and the Surviving Nabotans are.
In this version of SS after you kill El ( mind that Rhea was never captured in this version) Nemesis is Resuracted like in VW but before you fight him something happens.

Throughout your journey Rhea has been showing signs of a PTSD attack, triggert by Edelgard the second coming of Nemesis.
After you come out of Argartha a mentaly broken and Emotionaly unstable Rhea looks over the Horizon and sees Nemesis himself alive ones again.
In a complete breakdown she transforms in to the Immaculate one and attacks Nemesis. Though struggling he wunds her and flees for the moment.
Rhea however is lost in rage and dose not transfom back. Now a simiular fight tonthe original comes to play out BUT ...
Throughout the story there is a paraloge with Sothis ( Seeking trough you)
In this Paraloge you learn the song of the Naboteans and what its purpose is.
It was meant to calm a mad Dragon, like "lost in thoughts" in fates.
Depending on if you did that paralog Rhea will survive and calm down ones again and you can fight Nemesis and the 10 elits with Seiros and the other Saints in human form (you recruit the in paralogs crusal to unlocking the Sothis one)
I know this would probably be a WHOLE lot of work for the Devs but the ideea won't leave my head.
Although unrealistic I'd love to see a mod like this .
