    Just in case no one has told you, your videos on how to shift and float are the best on the internet and TH-cam. Trust me I have looked at a lot of them. You have a gift for explaining things and including the proper details.Trust me I have looked at a lot of videos on shifting and no one is explaining it properly as you are doing?

    I have been a professional semi driver for over 15 years, and this is the way it is properly done. It isn't complicated... You just have to match your engine speed to your transmission speed, which you know from your road speed. This information is good for any manual transmission, as long as you know your speeds, it will work.

      You'll get it Nicholas. Pay attention to your speed/RPM and you'll do just fine. So what if you grind a couple. Pretty soon, you'll feel those gears drop in like nothin'!! Good luck to ya and keep the rubber side down! "Eagle Claw" on the side.

    My new job that I’am starting soon, their trucks are 10speeds. I’ve never driven a 10speed before 😳. I was nervous just thinking about it, until I watched a couple videos. It’s not as bad as I thought🤔. I already know how to drive a manual, just never driven a 10peed. I just received my class A permit over a month ago. I had a class B. My new job is going to train me on their trucks. Once I get comfortable, I’ll take the truck out for my driving test. I’am nervous, and excited at the same time. Very good video 👌🏽.

      Bro! That's how it be out here. Luckily, there are still companies that use both. Having those shifting skill come in handy! Never know when you'll be placed in a manual. It is a great feeling to be able to go from not being able to remember what gear you are in, to knowing when to shift by the sound of the motor, and never having to use the clutch to upshift or downshift. I still watch these videos. I fell in love with the whole CDL process. I only have had my license for 4 years, but I am always trying to become a better professional. Stay safe out here homie!!

    Another well done video. I used to drive 30 yrs ago and getting back into it part time. The time I appear to have trouble is say your going along in 9th and you slow down fairly suddenly, one is I have trouble deciding what gear I should be in and then I grind away. Can I still just go by the rpms no matter the speed of truck and simply get it up around 14 to 1500 let it drop a bit and go into any gear without grinding? Basically I have trouble on a rapid slow down. Thanks again!

    Anyone ever gets the opportunity to drive a 5 spd Mack do it because you really got to let those RPMs drop to shift a 5 spd is a different type of driving unlike the multi speed progressive shift gear boxes the reason I’m telling you this is so you have a easier time learning to Skip shift on the 9 or 10 spd road ranger gear box when you are Bob tailing or deadheading with an empty trailer on you shift 2 4 pull up your air range changer go to 6 8 10 this is Bob tail or pulling a Empty it takes some practice to get the feel you got to let those RPMs fall more than you would for progressive shifting every gear that’s why I mentioned driving a 5 spd Mack will help you understand about letting the RPMs fall to shift if you try and shift progressively when skipping gears it won’t work you will grind the gears which is bad on the transmission same with trying to shift the 5 Speed Mack progressively it will not shift you will grind skip shifting saves fuel and wear & tear on the truck & you too only do it when Empty or Bob tailing when your loaded you must shift all gears in sequence

    Question right when u upshift example 8 to 9 when ur RPMS are at 1500 when u take it out of 8th do you rev it to go up to the 9th or ?

    • @FaroutTruckin
      @FaroutTruckin  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If u make the shift in 2 seconds you will not have to rev to go to 9th gear, but if you take longer than 2 sec to shift, your rpm will drop and that’s when you will have to rev match and go to 9 ( same as recovering your gear).

    You literally use the gas pedal to go in and out of gears. Clutch literally disappears until you start and stop.

Thereafter, pay a cdl driving school for only a few hours of refresher on manual 10speed. I guarantee Walmart trucks are spec with 10speed transmission.

    So you flip the splitter while still in 5th gear? I thought you did it in neutral?

    • @shawns3584
      @shawns3584 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can preselect the splitter up in 5th. It doesn't actually change to high until the transmission goes into neutral. When in 6th you can preselect the splitter down to low. It will not change into low until you shift into neutral before downshifting back to 5th. (So basically you can preselect high or low. It just doesn't do anything until you shift to neutral then it has changed before you go into next gear.) I hope that helps.

    FINALLY , a video showing the common sense real world way to shift an EATON FULLER TRANSMISSION..........all this stupid extra work nonsense of double clutching is making me sick........i want to throw up listening to all this math and gear ratio stuff.........you'd have to be EINSTEIN to remember all that garbage , shift the freakin' thing in a parking lot or somewhere out of the way and get the feel of it and then go out on the road and practice.........i know guys you would think they were born in a truck and they NEVER learned the math and gear ration stuff.......they shift and you hardly ever hear the gears click.............

      @@naturallybran4240 from my experience the hardest part was convincing employers I’m a solid driver, I never once fail to attain a job. Hence why I create these videos to give new cdl drivers like myself an advantage by improving their shifting skills.

    Do you have to rev in to get out of gear and rev to get back in gear?, im a new driver and floating gears looks way easier then double cluching... new subscriber, keep coming out with the great content 👍🔥

      Don’t know much but to either shift up or down you need at least 1300 rpms apx.

    Make the k sing brrrrrrrrrrpppppp 🇯🇲….
    Am currently doing class for my CDL A license second day on the road, need to work on double clutching. Wish it was just one press I’d be good bro.
    Great video on floating gears 👊🏾!

      Could also be one press, to do this you would bring your rpm to 15, foot gently off the gas, take the tranny out of gear and single clutch to next gear.
