  • Slowly but surely making progress on the Foamie Camper for my 1979 Toyota Pickup. This episode covers glassing the exterior roof seam, the construction and bonding of some stainless tie down anchor points for the front, and fiberglassing the interior rear wall joint. Don't forget everybody's favorite shop dog Dale!

    Jake, wondering what type of resin your using? Seems like you have a lot of working time with it

    • @ThatJakeWorldWide
      @ThatJakeWorldWide  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey Dan, Im using Epoxy resin of varying speeds. Based on the temperature in the shop I use a slow, medium, or fast hardener to get the most working time. Also I get it out of the mixing cup and onto the part as quickly as possible, if left in the cup it will dramatically reduce your working time. I've used uscomposites 635 thin series for the whole build. Thanks for watching!

    How do you keep resin and fibers off the dog, or do you cut out blobs?

      Dale is a great listener, It's the cat that I have to worry about.

    I love this build 👍. BUTT! it's so hard to follow it. I just ran across your channel. They're not in any kinda order. I wanted to start at the beginning and follow your building adventure. I have thought about building a camper using this method, but wasn't sure if it would be strong enough. I know very little about setting up a channel , and couldn't do any better job of putting out content. I need to learn how to edit as well.

      Phil,
      The build videos are in the order that they occurred, and are meant to be informative, but not necessarily a how to.
      Sort the foamie camper build playlist by upload date and that's as linear as this brain of mine gets.
      Thanks for watching!

    Hi I stumbled across your videos I have never seen anything like this done here in Brisbane Australia we can get the foam but not sure about other products like the bog Bondo stuff thanks for going to the trouble to make the videos

      Hey Gary! A quick google and you have no fewer than 5 suppliers in Brisbane that carry everything you need. The filler is made from microballoons mixed with epoxy, but any of the traditional composite fillers would work too (aerosil, Qcells, Talc)
      Thanks for watching!

    You're an inspiration. I appreciate the skill involved. You make it look so easy. Are you applying so many layers for a reason or is it overkill for peace of mind? I see other projects on TH-cam using only single (double at most) layers of fibreglass. Thanks for all the effort you put into these videos, I know it's hard work, especially filming something that is so time-sensitive - epoxy...

      Frost, thanks for your appreciation!
      I made up some 4"x4" test panels of varying layer counts and did some old school destructive testing.
      With a single layer of 7oz cloth I could easily dent the underlying foam with my thumb.
      I found that 15-20oz of cloth was the happy medium between impact resistance and overall project weight.
