As a teenager a half century ago, as an every-Sunday Presbyterian, my wise minister told me exactly this: find a Bible that I want to read and cherish it. For me, that was the Thompson Chain Reference; I still love it I also do enjoy the ESV Study Bible, but I find study Bibles too bulky and distracting. I just recently decided to try the NLT and bought a Schuyler copy from Evangelical Bible. I'm loving it! Decided to read it cover to cover, just finished Esther today. The old, familar stories told with a fresh perspective. Best wishes from the Houston-Galveston area!

One of my most favorite bibles is Crossway ESV heritage. It’s single column but the way the text is setup, it’s very easy to read from for a long periods of time. I couldn’t come up with a better layout. I also love that the text doesn’t go into the gutter.

I love the Crossway Heritage ESV too! 😊 One of the best typefaces or layouts I've ever seen in any Bible - beautiful font thanks to the world famous 2K Denmark, beautiful font size, beautiful spaces between letters and words and even lines, beautiful opacity and no significant bleedthrough, I could keep going! Also what I love about the Heritage is that it's available in an expensive Heirloom Heritage edition as well as an affordable TruTone Heritage edition! I own the Heirloom Heritage ESV which I paid $200 for, but I really wished that I had instead gotten the TruTone Heritage ESV which is only about $35 or less when discounted such as during Black Friday sales or similar. The TruTone looks exactly the same as the Heirloom, but far more affordable and I'd have no issues bringing it with me everywhere, tossing it around more easily, etc. whereas I tend to be more careful with the Heirloom Heritage. But either way, it's wonderful that there are expensive and affordable editions of the Heirloom Heritage which is just a beautiful Bible!

@ same. I tend to baby my premium bibles. I was actually thinking about getting the cheap version too just to bring it around with me more. The only cheap Bible I own right now is the NKJV genuine, leather sovereign. I do really like this Bible shockingly. I have considered giving the NASB 95 or the LSB a chance because I’ve heard it’s very accurate. I just know getting the right Bible is more tricky with that version.

Do these ESV guys really love the Bible, or do they love reformed theology? I know, l know, you're thinking "What's the difference?". And there's your sign.

The Bible is a Catholic book ❤️

Hmmmn...Catholics use the Bible but they don't consider it the final authority on anything. Catholics rely on church tradition and church doctrine (anything Pope's may have decreed throughout the centuries - "Cathechism".) as their doctrine.

@@chrisp9500 The Bible would not exist in the form in which we have it, had the Catholic Church not determined which letters and manuscript were inspired and which weren't. That's just an historical fact.
