    I was 100% sure that, sooner or later, there would be a DLC for Elden Ring. I believed. For this reason, I have been fine-tuning my personal PvE Build in order to give me the highest degree of survivability for all of the new content that we will face. This is the result. Taking all of my favorite strategies and combining them with all my experience, I was able to settle on something that I truly believe is ready for anything.

    Hi. I'd already prepared a build similar to this one for NG DLC. My other character is now on NG+2, ready to go into NG+3. Going forward with your suggested build, I would recommend increasing Faith to 35 [180-level build], so you can use Protection of the Erdtree, which will give you 30% magic damage negation [plus any summons], and free up a few memory slots. I would suggest Shadow Bait, which is like having a summoning partner wearing a Shabriri's Woe and can buy you time to heal [outside of Boss battles], plus Electrify Armament, Black Flame, Golden Vow, Assassin's Approach, or whatever else you choose.

    My guess for the name was "Al-Bonk-nauric". I was fairly close. Well done once again, Frowny. I always appreciate how you find big payoffs from minor investments in certain stats. Super versatile/adaptable build.
    Out of curiosity, would a "toolbox Dex" build be essentially the same, just swapping the primary damage stat, or would that require more significant adjustments to the stat spread?
    Thanks for sharing.

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      A Toolbox Dex build would essentially be the same. You might have to change the playstyle a bit. In order to use the Icon Shield you need 22 STR so it becomes a bit weird. You can lower Mind to meet the 22 STR requirement and then go full DEX. This will let you keep the regeneration and you can use the Butchering Knife as a weapon. It scales mostly with DEX and it has the same 1% heal as the Great Stars (no bleed though).
      On the other hand, you can just sacrifice the regeneration, keep STR low and build a more damage-oriented build with Shard of Alexander and some good Ashes of War. There is potential, but I prefer STR for this kind of build. Thank you for your comment.

    Hiya, love your build videos man, they're awesome. Just wanted to ask, have you heard of, or tried the Elden Ring: Reforged mod? It basically overhauls many systems within the entire game. Adds new mechanics (you can deflect guard counter like in Sekiro) and even new spells, incantations and spirit ashes. It also gives existing weapons new ashes like the Dragon Great Claw having the lighting smash the Draconic Tree Sentinel uses. Highly recommend it! Great work as always in any case!

      @@FrownyGaming speaking of mods, this is a question I actually wanted to ask you since I've been tinkering with params and made my own balance mod a few days ago;
      Are there any weapons, talismans, equipment pieces or effects that you find to be rather lackluster or underwhelming? Maybe something that you'd like to make a build around if only it were a bit better?

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      I want to be able to open up the map while there are enemies aggro'd to me. It is OK if you do not let me fast travel in aggro, but let me look at the map. If I get hit while looking, that's on me.
      The Cat Talisman is beyond useless. I honestly don't know how I would fix it. Maybe increase jump distance?
      Make the Hardness Stat a fleshed out mechanic that we can see in the Stats Page of Shields. It would make them so much more fun if we had more things to look for other than Guard Boost.
      I would not have Armor Pieces that give Stat points. They can have special effects like HP regeneration, additional jump attack damage, or protection from backstabs... but no Stat increases.
      These are off the top of my head. I would have to think more if I were to try and "balance" the game. But these 4 are my go-to wish list.

  • @whiskeyjack6668
    @whiskeyjack6668 ปีที่แล้ว

    What stats would you prioritize beyond lvl 150? I've started this build and so far enjoying it tremendously, though I'm far from the meats and potatoes of it, just hitting Liurnia. Eventually, I plan to take it into NG+ and don't plan to stop leveling at 150 (eventually hit maybe 185).
    BTW, Big kudos for not only this build but all your other videos. Using much of I learned from here, I was able to go all the way from Stormveil gate to Godrick without having to rest one time while in my 40s

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you for your support and kind words. If I were to take this build up to 185, that gives us 30 extra levels. I would use 25 levels to get Strength to 80, and then I would use the 5 remaining points on a caster stat (probably faith) for some additional support potential. I appreciate your comment.

    Dig it. I've never been comfortable with in your face melee characters, but I've steamrolled up to Mountaintops without any effort so far.
    Took some points out of mind and boosted faith/arc so I can always use Bloodflame. Swapped out the HP boost talismans for Curved Sword and Cerulean Dagger at the moment. Guard countering til they bleed and stagger then getting my FP back on the crit. Have Bestial and BFB up all the time and never need to flask, and health is pretty much always at max. Gonna try to throw a misericorde into the mix and see if that does anything.
    Probably gonna switch Cerulean Dagger out for Lord of Blood and get the white mask because I just can't do the albinauric mask, and I'm getting pretty consistent bleed procs.

      If you are going to be swapping the HP Talismans out, I also recommend Shard of Alexander for more Ash of War damage. As for dropping the Albinauric Mask for the White Mask, you will have to put more points into Arcane for Bloodflame Blade (it's just 3). But I hate the White Mask. It think it's one of the worst-looking pieces alongside the Rennala Crown. In any case, I am glad that you were inspired to try your own version. Thank you for your comment.

    Recently used your Paladin build for second playthrough. Did a wretch into mage for 1st. So a tanky vagabond playthrough with shield was so much more comfortable. I managed to not use summons (personal challenge). Only Godskin I summon Bernal and bullied them. Malenia still practicing. Love the poise on prayerfully strike. Though I do miss the ranged option for this build.
    I want to adopt this build from you, cause I love me some crucible tree armor. And want to try out bloodflame. And man I totally agree with deathblight and undead. So I'm gonna respec so that I can use those counter spells.
    In my adaptation of your Paladin I went with 31 faith to be able to use the frenzied flame spam, also mostly for the ranged frenzied flame. Not role play accurate but yeah when you wanna get the frenzied flame seal, might as well go all in with frenzy. Plus I missed an aoe group clear in this build. I also use O Nails armor, like that drip. And the Blasphemous blade as an alternative to The Fabulous Godsmacking Stars. Love the big aoe hit that destroys groups of enemies. But it needs more endurance to wield. So I use arsenal charm sometimes, or lighter armor. Also sometimes bull goat charm for more poise to get hits of and not stagger.
    The pizza slicer with 15 dex and the old guy samurai mask let's me use the pizza slicer.
    Love me some prelate charging, or vacuum cleaning as I like to call it, but I am underwhelmed by the damage it does on its own. Bleed makes up for that, great idea. Do you swap ashes of war around alot then, or are you in NG+3 with 3 great stars or something?

      @FrownyGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thanks to the game patches, we can get two Great Stars per playthrough now. One in the usual carriage chest, and then one from following the Varre questline. This is usually enough for me because I also carry a Claymore and a Longsword for other Ashes of War. For example, I keep one Great Stars with Prayerful Strike, one Great Stars with Stormcaller, the Claymore with Lion's Claw and the Longsword with Gravitas. This set-up has been useful to me. UPDATE: So I finished the game with my own slight variation of this build and I'm happy to say that it's my new favorite build. I started as a Wretch because that's my preference. I actually saw the mimic die twice but only to cheese bullshit in the form of the death blight. Other than that, the little fucker is unkillable. In most boss fights, I didn't even need the mimic. I'm so strong and durable and with my added experience in playing the game, I beat Elden Ring with VERY few hickups. I'm very excited for the DLC. I am sad to say that I did not wear the Albinauric Mask because it creeps me the fuck out but I instead opted for the Jar head since it was a gift from my bro-beans. Great build, too bad the DLC has been taking way longer than anyone expected, but less than 2 months to go at this point. I'm currently doing a Strength build playthrough (second time through, my first build was pure Int), and I may incorporate some of this playstyle. My expected stats are:
    Vigor - 60
    Mind - 10
    Endurance - 34
    Strength - 80
    Dexterity - 14
    Intelligence - 9
    Faith - 15
    Arcane - 7
    Obviously the biggest difference is I only have 78 FP with my measly 10 mind. This hasn't been a problem yet because I mainly use cheap ashes of war like Lion's Claw, Wind Strikes, Cragblade, and Flame of the Redmanes. Using Prelate's charge would be out of the question mostly, but I could always use the Cerulean Hidden Tear if I needed it for a boss. 15 Faith is primarily for Flame Grant Me Strength but I regularly use Heal on revenants, the resistance crew, and some beastial incantations for range. 14 Dex gets me access to a few weapons I like such as the Golem's Halberd, Axe of Godfrey for the DLC, Jellyfish Shield, and I might get a greatbow for some range. I'm not worried about not having Order's Blade, as that's easily solved with either holy grease or Sacred Blade.
    Finally for your build the Rusted Anchor would be a great addition to have reliable access to Pierce damage, but you would have to increase your Endurance to 33 to medium roll. If you were okay with 200 FP instead of 221, you could take those 3 points out of mind. It's one of my favorite weapons as it has a great moveset and many enemies, such as dragons and bell bearing hunters, are significantly weaker to pierce damage, so I always like to have access to all physical damage types. I get the Claymore has it on some moves, but I like knowing that every hit will be pierce with the Rusted Anchor, kinda just set and forget.

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      The Rusted Anchor is a really fun weapon, but I prefer it with a specialized build. Basically, take advantage of the pierce damage by trading with the enemies and proc'ing counter-hits with additional spear talisman damage. This build was designed to have a wide range of options available.
      The build that you posted is something that I like to use for a specialized Strength Build. The 14 Dex is key to get some of the best Strength-based weapons. You already mentioned the Golem's Halberd. Overall, solid stuff. Thank you for your comment.

      Tons of Dex + Thunderbolt AoW is a good option it can get repetitive over time, but an option nonetheless. A bit more fun might be Sword Dance since it flows well with the moveset while also being a generally good AoW.

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't quote me on this, because I am working on memory and should double check the facts... but, I believe that a Keen Guardian Sword Spear gets the most AR Scaling from Dexterity due to a combination of high Scaling Grade and high Base AR. This makes it great on a Pure 80 DEX build or a Hybrid build (think DEX/FTH with Electrify Armament). Also, it's a Halberd. It is impossible for it to be bad.
      Personally, I would run it with the brass shield in a DEX/FTH Hybrid and run buffs of it. Dress up the character in gold. It might get boring a bit quick, but it would look fantastic. Thank you for your comment.

    If the trend of Souls bosses being he toughest in DLC continues, I expect all of them to be Malenia or motivated Soldier God, Rick. :p
    Anyways, my bonk build at one point switched to Great Stars with Prayerful Strike. Duel wielded them at one point, too, since now you can get two of them in one playthrough. I did not give my build anything to up her HP beyond her 60 vigor, and the only defensive talisman I used was the dragoncrest greatshield. Didn't use icon shield for healing, either. Nevertheless, even at such a basic level, I can also vouch that the mimic tear's survivability was considerably better thanks to just the Great Stars and Prayerful Strike alone. It doesn't have the level of tankiness to not die, but given that Prayerful Strike also heals nearby allies, I also help to increase its survivability anytime I use the ash when nearby my mimic tear.
    One of my fights against Malenia with such a basic setup alone managed to last for a long time since the mimic tear was able to tank he WFD, the both of us hitting Malenia while landing the occasional Prayerful Strike and therefore gaining back any lost HP, but not able to do enough damage to compensate for her healing. I was lacking at the time the necessary items and incants to increase my damage.
    So, if this is the level of survivability I can get with the weapon alone, I can only imagine my mimic tear be invincible with your setup, adding the icon shield for healing, increasing your HP through medallions, and wearing overall better armor as opposed to making my character look hot. Thanks for making this build. You have provided me with more options to make building around Great Stars more flexible.

      I am always trying to improve this build and the objective is to reach the point where I no longer have to use Crimson Flasks. I am not entirely sure that this is possible, but right now the build can go through side dungeons without using them. Legacy dungeons are still a bit iffy due to their length, but I think that with some smart play it is possible.
      Overall, I am happy that you have obtained results even with a basic version of the build. This is my favorite one and it is awesome to see others having success with it. Thank you for your comment.

    • @FrownyGaming

      The high Mind is actually one of the most important factors of this build. It gives us a very high upkeep for Bestial Vitality and Bloodflame Blade, as well as provide us a large amount of Prayerful Strikes to keep our HP healthy. Since Cerulean Flasks are more efficient than Crimson Flasks, you can go through a full dungeon without sitting at a Grace. No enemy respawns and full Flasks for the boss. I really enjoy the efficiency. Thank you for your comment.

    What stat allocation would you suggest for above level 150? Like 200 250 etc?

      Honestly, you can do whatever you want at that point. Personally, I would increase STR to 80 and FTH to 30 or 50. Thank you for your comment.

      I am glad that you liked it. Remember that the Albinauric Mask gives us 4 points into Arcane to use Bloodflame Blade. If you swap it out, you will need to put points into it again. It's 3 points only that you need, so I would probably take them from Mind. Thank you for your comment.

    Great video! Would you consider an Iron Greatsword (Heavy) a good candidate for this type of build?

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Iron Greatsword is a good weapon for this build. That said, I do not think that it is the best choice. It is heavier, it does not have bleed and it does not heal us. I think the Great Stars is much better for the character altogether. Thank you for your comment.

  • @speedy4574
    @speedy4574 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would bring MND to 34 and FTH to 17 so I can also use Black Flame Blade for bosses like Fire Giant and Radabeast. Things that cant bleed, have high health and are resistant to most things, if not everything can still be affected by the black flame effect.

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      This is an interesting point. I think that you are right and we should take this into consideration. That said, instead of changing the Stats, I would add a Halberd or a Spear with Black Flame Tornado to my Toolbox.
      - Banished Knight Halberd (good balance)
      - Vulgar Militia Saw (works great with Bloodflame Flame)
      - Nightrider's Glaive (heavier but stronger)
      - Maybe the Partisan?
      I would keep this Ash of War in my pocket for these situation where the bosses are massive damage sponges.
      Good contribution. I had not though of this before and I will definitely modify my build. Thank you for your comment.

      @@FrownyGaming I have actually been trying to play my own version of this build actually. It's surprisingly versatile depending on what is important to the player. I even made a RL138 PVP version and a RL250 version for multiple NG+ runs. You made damn good guild is my point. Though I found a way to do it without the need of an Albinauric mask but it requires you to play as a Wretch which is what I prefer. I like to earn each and every item, armor, weapon and upgrade I get.

    i wonder how the stormcaller compares to wild strikes?

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      They actually behave similarly, except that Wild Strikes is more for single targets while Stormcaller is more useful against groups. Stormcaller has more lockdown capabilities, but I found that Wild Strikes is better at breaking the enemy's stance to get the riposte. Overall, I think that Wild Strikes is a very good choice for this build too. Thank you for your comment.

      My full first playthrough of the Elden Ring (105 hours) is up on the channel. In this playthrough, I build and use a STR/FTH build that works as the base of this one. It is the infant of the Albinator that you see here. After that, when the DLC drops, I will do a full recording of it with this present build. Thank you for your comment.

    New to the game, I was just using the last version of this build ~RL80 atm; after getting great stars and prayerful strike it's been going swell. Just beat starscourge redprawn yesterday 😃.
    Thought I'd ask if anyone had tips on those iron maiden things and/or packs of projectile spammers (ghosts with bells and spirit beastmen with laser arrows mostly). I keep getting wrecked by these things 😅

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  ปีที่แล้ว

      Abductor Virgins are a bit hard in general but it is a matter of punishing them when they open up their chest to grab you. Bait the attack, dodge, punish. They take a lot of damage this way. Otherwise you need to use Lightning as they are very weak to that.
      Those enemies that summon spirits with the bells you have to rush them down. The projectiles are generally slow so you can dodge, rush and punish. If they are the ones riding the horse, it can be a bit more complicated so you would have to bait them to get near you. After that, they are made of glass. If we are talking about the same ones, use Heal on them. They get hurt just like the Revenants.
      Finally, the Siofra snipers. They require patience. You need to approach them while staying out of their line of fire and block an arrow here and there. Once you get close to them, the will switch to melee combat. They require a bit more strategy but they really only have range advantage.
      Hope this helps, thank you for your comment.

    • @FrownyGaming
      @FrownyGaming  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I guess you could try running 22 STR and 50 FTH. It will give us access to stronger incantations, while still having enough strength for Icon Shield and Great Stars. The best infusions for the weapon would be Sacred or Flame Art, but we lose the ability to use buff incantations on it.
      It’s an interesting idea. I will try to make something out of it. Thank you for your comment.

      I don't tend to do much PvP content, but if I had to make some changes to this build, I would probably just lower Mind to increase Endurance to reach a higher Poise and then put some points into Dexterity to use some kind of Spear or Great Spear. Although the Claymore is a pretty good PvP weapon too with the crouch poke. Thank you for your comment.

      I believe it works great. Bestial Vitality, Bloodflame Blade and a lot of Prayerful Strike. They provide plenty of HP and damage. Best of all, it saves Crimson Flasks. It’s a combination of support incantations and heavy Ash of War use. Thank you for your comment.
