    What are your thoughts on the Selec Speed Control feature?

      Just got my Gladiator a couple weeks ago, got the sport. Tried out this feature and it's pretty amazing even on a pretty steep incline.

    Awesome video. Systematic, clear, explained each detail. Live demo of each explanation. Every video should be like this.

    thank you for this. I've owned my JT Rubicon for 2 months now, but because of everything being closed, have gotten very little driving done, and I have been trying to figure out "What the heck does this duck button do?!" I can't wait to finally get this thing on some trails in the future, but right now just hunkering down and staying safe.

    People don't realize that the Cherokee Trailhawk has had this since 2014 but anyway I think it's a good thing and I think it's a great way to test your tires and your tire pressures because you can make changes and then use the select speed as a control for the experiment because it's computer controlled

    I just purchased a 2024 Willys Gladiator, that has the Locking Rear Differential, Off Road Plus, (regular cruise control, adaptive cruise control both on the steering wheel) their's a button down on the low right that I think is Select Speed Control, but I really don't know at this point how and when to engage it, or if that's it. You could have taken a second to show the actual button , and does it work only in 4 low range?

      @@jamesdumas6602 You can see the button in the video a little but this is what it looks like www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/what-the-hell-is-this-stock-button-which-looks-like-a-cruise-control-on-top-of-a-jeep-in-the-snow-update-selec-speed-control-ssc.36575/

    May I know the steps of activating the cruise control for up hills. Do I need to put it on H / L gears, do I need to push on off road+ etc..
    Or only by adjusting the speed from cruise button?
    Thanks

      You guys clearly didn’t watch the video all the way. Go to 2:06 it’s simple and shown. Push the button that I show, then go to manual on the trans to adjust. That’s all there is

    • @barak1965
      @barak1965 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BuiltForDirt thank you for the answer. First you talk about the cruise control + but the 2:06 refer to down cobtrol. I assume you mean that the cruise control function operate the same, control the speed with the manual shift. I will try it today.

    seems like its a transmission for people who don't appreciate the technical aspect of off-roading. Kinda like for lazy people. I've watched videos of guys who do much more technical downhill maneuvers with a manual transmission. Now that's hard core. I think I would rather get the Selec-trac transmission over the selec-speed transmission. It almost makes me feel wimpy that I don't get a manual transmission. The selec-speed transmission seems more fitting for business purposes, like a construction worker or surveyor. Doesn't seem fitting for the off-road enthusiast. Pretty soon machines and electronics will be doing everything for a guy. Taking the fun out of everything, and leaving you feeling less satisfied. Oh well. Great demonstration video though. Appreciate that. But I would rather do the work myself, and get the satisfaction of knowing I can or can't.

    Seems much quieter than Tacoma’s crawl control

    • @BuiltForDirt
      @BuiltForDirt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven't seen the Tacoma's crawl control in person before. Why is it so loud?

    • @k4osKiller
      @k4osKiller 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's because the crawl control uses ABS and actually will get you out of sand, it's made to unbury you. Selec speed will just dig you deeper

    • @mutinyrider666
      @mutinyrider666 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@k4osKiller exactly. Own two jeeps but sell and appreciate toyota .if you get stuck and need out just turn it on and it will slowly turn and stop each wheel searching for and holding traction until it digs you out . Speed is always your friend in mud though and climbing hills I do the same .if my tires start slipping I want the momentum to keep me going thru it lol
