In my fifteen year long eve career I have done many things. One of them was mining. My most favorite thing to fit on that exact same ship was a warp scrambler. Substitute the afterburner for a warp scrambler. If you need to move through the belt simply bookmark the new asteroid you want to travel to, warp to a nearby celestial object then warp back to your bookmark. Gankers are much more hesitant to gank miners if they use a ship scanner revealing the warp scrambler that is fit to your ship. It makes them think you are bait with backup nearby.
This is an INCREDIBLE idea. I appreciate the mind games too 👏
It's been a month since you posted this but hopefully you see it. I love the idea of tricking gankers by having a warp scrambler on your mining vessels. If we continue that theme, do you have any experience or opinions on upping the ante by adding a Neutralizer or Nosferatu into a high slot for ships such as the ventures endurance, and prospect? Obviously can't do it with barges and exhumers, but if you were multi-boxing with a bunch of endurances that all had warp scramblers and a neut or nosf, would that make gankers doubly suspicious of being decoys?
The gankers must not be very experienced. In low sec, people _do_ need to worry about bait ships. In high sec, CONCORD will avenge you if you warp scramble them... or don't. In other words objectively it makes no difference. That said, probably 30/31 gankers seem pretty clueless as to what they're doing since I've seen many crazy things like trying to blow up empty ships without expensive modules. When that 31st ganker who does know what they're doing comes, that warp scrambler is useless.
Why would a ganker be afraid of you using a warp scrambler to prevent them from escaping? As soon as they attack, CONCORD will stop them warping. It's called 'suicide ganking' for a reason.
@@RamboMadCow Do you intend to cap out the Catalyst, or just tag yourself on the CONCORD kill mail? How many gankers scan their mining targets before striking? Miners get dumber, I swear.
Your best defense is awareness and movement, or just buy a mining permit.

What is the proper way to use the Hornet EC-300's? I only learned about them from your other mining vids but I don't recall any specific tactics. Do we have to proactively target the baddie and send them to disrupt them? Do we let them auto attack? Is the general idea that we abandon the drones by warping out while they disrupt the attacker? I don't have a big problem abandoning them. They're cheap enough compared to replacing an entire Retriever fit. Just trying to fully understand the correct way to use them to save the ship.
How to use: lock the ganker, set the drones on the ganker! This will force the ganker to lock and kill the drones before they can lock you.

just got back into eve and im trying this build. running into an issue with fitting. I cant have everything online at the same time. cpu management is maxed, but not sure what other skills i need to help with load management. Do you have any implants to use this fitting?
This is a common problem! Def check your skills to see how you can increase CPU usage. Check the Mining Upgrades skills for example

Another good video Loru. I haven't tried ice harvesting at all till watching this. Going out tonight after I buy a couple ice miner I's for my retriever to see if I like it. I really like how you lay out several ways to enjoy Eve in your videos. I usually swap up my focus every two or three months so I don't burn out on one area e.g. mining or mission running. You've given me some new things to consider and more than a few weeks to my fits. Appreciate it!

I’m confused about why a highsec mining ship would be at great risk of being ganked. When I watched highsec hauling videos, the general consensus was they wouldn’t bother unless the loot was worth 800 million plus. Is a single load of ice that valuable? Could we make more frequent offloads to mitigate the risk?
Oh, maybe it’s less cost to pop a mining ship.

Well you might have done a good job on watching the local chat! But honestly I believe your statement is a classic example of survivorship bias.
No-tether rule for suicide gankers makes it harder to bring 7-8 destroyers on the gank by a solo player, but it's still quite easy to run 4 destroyers (although you have to switch your fits from tech-I to tech-II). I believe the suggested fit is vulnerable to 3-4 tech-II catalysts in 0.7 system with CONCORD troops present somewhere else in the system outside the belt. Moreover, there should be some time left to hit the pod. So I believe it's still important to fit the tank.
When you use ORE equipment for mining, you make your ship a super-profitable target for the gank even for tech-II catalysts.
Some words about the positioning on the belt: suicide gankers use cloaky ships to find the target and bookmarks to warp the fleet. So it might be quite irrelevant whether you are far away from the initial warping spot.

If you pulse the afterburner one time, when you are warping, it decreases your warp time
What I don't get is I have the same total CPU as you being 325 but I can't get two havesters II online. Any idea's to solve this?
Definitely your skills, check the cpu related skills out, and for now use less powerful items

Just my 2 cents but I'm generally not a fan of the "releasing in 24 hours option" I'm curious if it increases views or alienates people like i feel it does for me. I also click the video excited to see it, then get disappointed when I realize its not actually out. Half the time I think, "welp guess im not watching that video." Sometimes I do see it, and catch it later but I always feel kinda bummed when I get tricked.
I get it when you have a watch party on a new video, in chat watching the new release, but when someone does an announcement for every video it irks me.
