American here. Kia Carnival is the best MPV/Minivan ever built. I still have my 2007 Kia Sedona/ Carnival. 161,000 miles and still running smooth. Quality bulid. No major issues. Ill definitely buy a new one once my 2007 finally quits.. probably will take another 5 years.
While some people to complain about its reliability, I know Hyundai and Kia are quite reliable as stated in this comment :)

Big Kia fan here and I like this hybrid version of the Carnival. However here in the US Kia has been quiet about bringing it here, I’m worried Kia may want to push the sale of the EV9 instead of diluting it with the sale of the Carnival Hybrid version. I hope I’m wrong.

I never thought I'd buy a Kia but I love this minivan.
It truly is a nice minivan.
I completely agree on the hybrids, it does bring a lot of refinement to that 1.6 turbo, that engine alone is kind rough and wants to surge, but with the hybrid, it is quite smooth. And all the other refinements like being able to idle in battery, and not worry much about carbon monoxide, and now with e-ride or e-motion tech with counterbalancing for speed bumps, big turning, even lateral winds. Absolutely love the whole tiger mask signature, kia is on a roll, used to be in a company called Changjo and Space Group, Korean design is in a good place now.

I like the updates it was a good looking vehicle to being with.. i prefer the V6 as a tow with my van plus i do mostly high way or through mountainous terrain.. would love an awd option over the hybrid..

Many thanks for the excellent review (as always). Is there a huge difference in power delivery compared to the 3.5 petrol (with cargo onboard)? Do you know if Kia HQ is likely to decide to sell this car (hybrid) in EU? I also hope that there be a PHEV version (265KM) in the coming future.
I do not know specifics to global sales unfortunately. There is quite the difference with petrol model, yes, but not so much when you are driving mostly alone.
You ought to feel the shortage when the car is loaded up. I'd compare it to the driving sensation of a sedan around mid 100hp to 150hp ish cars. But not so much when driven alone, the car light.

Thanks a lot for the video, honestly Ive watched it for more than 3 times so far. I’m wondering whether you are able to set the car to drive on ev alone? Can you just turn on the air con without the engine kicks in?
Unfortunately, not. All of that is taken care of by the car by itself and is fully ran automatic. Having said that the AC might run without the engine for some time, but eventually the engine will kick in.
I’m a big fan of Kia carnival. Currently own the 2022 model in Australia. The only complaint for the Australian model overall is we can’t remove the second roll (8seater, left and right), which very inconvenient if we need a larger room, especially for those who camp in the car. However, I manage to hack it and go camping! 😆 I would like my next carnival, preferably 8 seater to have massage function for the 4 heated and ventilated seats.

@@kannu1984 not really sure how efficient is the hybrid model, but I’m happy with Diesel. It took only 1 full tank, from Melbourne to Sydney.

It’s about time they came out with a hybrid! With the new Toyota sienna hybrid, the mpg disparity was too big between the two.

Will it be sold in EU?
I wish the US would get features from overseas. Massage seats sound awesome! But alas, the US sucks when it comes to neat features. I am also worried the small hybrid engine won't be enough to move this family hauler. Regardless, I'm definitely excited about the US release notes for this; I won't be buying the carnival until I see what changes have been made.
I've heard about the watered down options for the NA market, not limited to a car, but for many Kia and Hyundai. Hope that'd change over time!
can you do a test drive with the van loaded up? this would be the real test for potential customers ie. can this vehicle manage with passengers/luggage? have there been any comments from those who have the hybrid version in korea regarding power? is the 1.6T + hybrid engine enough for such a large car?

We love the Kia carnival, but after looking at the iihs crash test, we decided to go with a telluride. I wonder if they made structural reinforcement so the vehicle can be safer? The carnival is the best inside the vehicle, if only it could improve the B pillar and have less structural deformation in crashes… I’d imagine people are carrying kids in the car and safety should be a top priority.
Sure could use enhanced safety rating for family minivans indeed.

I think in Canada or US the 360 camera is turn off once the car is moving. Maybe for safety reasons.

Okay Kia, you’re almost there. Now develop an AWD version of this model. Hire Toyota if you have too and you’ll have a winner.

Great vehicle - only thing that scares me is the short life a small Turbo engines have... they don;t seem to last as long as non-turbo engines.

The other important feature that is LACKING from the entire Carnival line-up is the Heads Up Display. Why they decided NOT to include this is IMO a mystery to me.
It is now included, comes with 11 in HUD 😇
2025 model is already here, and the world hasn't got 2024 in sales yet in EU :D crazy

14.0 km/L (32.9 mpg) mixed is the official number, but you can get more than that if you try.

Not on this facelift either, unfortunately.
I thought kia and Hyundai hybrid don't have regen braking. I own a Sportage Hybrid Sx prestige so how do you engage the regen braking?
Not sure about Sportage, but Santa Fe and this Carnival had them. Checked and used it myself :)
All hybrids should have regen braking. It’s like the hallmark feature of all hybrids and helps to charge the battery while reducing wear and tear on the real brakes

I drove Toyota Siena and Kia carnival 2024 (old model compare to Korean version)
Siena drives better , much quoted but Kia has more tech and luxury
