I wouldn't call that gaslighting. It's not like she was manipulating her, she's just a bitter woman who's talking for the hell of talking and got her friend to think like her as a consequence of their conversation. I don't think she was trying to break them up. Some people just project their own insecurities and failures on others while they complain about their own lives.
You must not know what gaslighting means, because the friend did no such thing. All she did was talk about her suspicions of her own husband. Her comments did influence the other woman's behavior, but that doesn't make it gaslighting.
Gaslighting is the intentional act of trying to convince someone that their own memory or perception of events is incorrect & unreliable, and instill false memories by "reminding" them of things that didn't actually happen.
Her: "You need to balance work and home life " ... Sergi lies about getting a job so he can be with her more. Also her: "How are we going to pay the mortgage??"

She escalated to violence. Tried and tried to murder him on multiple occasions. She is abusive physically and emotionally. This is a horrible story. If the roles were reversed. It would have ended with him burned alive. Gender is irrelevant. Anyone can be abusive. No one wants to be alone. But no one deserves to be in a toxic and abusive relationship

I feel it justified for Marina to be exasperated with Sergei. He caused her to lose the competition and her focus on life. Then he became too focused on his own passion not caring about her. Trying to kill him is too much, a divorce would have been better.
