The river I think is called Han River and isn't that polluted at all, but It may get you sick. It's a freshwater but they don't drink straight from it. He's also dehydrated and probably didn't think of the water to be dirty. And last point, the guy doesn't have a choice to boil the water when literally stranded on a Island.

    Seems like something that could happen in real life. Plenty of these islands in urban areas that are off-limits for various reasons. And plenty of cases of people checking out and living like vagabonds in the wilderness. Only to be caught because of some minor slip up.
    Of course if it were the U.S., the poor bastard on the island would probably be tried and sentenced for trespassing and resisting charges. And then be given three hots and barely even a cot in some overcrowded general pop bay.
    On the bright-side, get out and write/blog/vlog about the experience and maybe even hold some "dos/donts" sessions of vagabonding.

    Some fun facts.
    1. Kim, the name of the two main characters in this film, is the most common surname in Korea. In other words, they don't look ordinary but perhaps they express the ordinary things we can experience in life.
    2. The sarubia flower that the male Kim tasted was what almost of Korean men of that age did in their school days. The meaning of the scene is a scene showing the coexistence of nostalgia and bitter memories.
    3. When this movie was released, it failed at the box office. But it was rediscovered several years later by some mania and became known to people.

    • @darx7852
      @darx7852 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      No if there is no one else then you are "alone" not "lonely". You are only lonely when you feel everyone having fun and you can't relate.
      Being alone or "solitude" is not the same feeling as loneliness

      I think they mean feeling lonely even when there are so many people around you because you feel inadequate, disengaged, detached etc. You feel like you don't belong, thus you feel lonely and perhaps the worse kind.

    This movie is like Korea's "Garden State" or "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" or "The Silver Lining". Very much in the similar genre but the idea of the story is very unique and a quirky one. It has the classic korean mix of depressing, comedic, and hopeful at the same time.

    extremely sad that a random hobo guy living on an island living a better life than his old life in the city, is not even allowed to live there because of other people. People say humans are social creatures, but some would much rather live peacefully, not near hundreds if thousands of others, on an island with nothing but bird poop, a few useful plots of dirt, some mushrooms, and garbage.
