Yeah, I'm struggling to imagine how they could possibly have justified that. We only have the recap here, so it's possible that it makes more sense in the story... but it's hard to imagine how it could make more sense. The best I can do is suggest the pilots knew it was a possible suicide mission, but even that seems hard to justify.

In case you're wondering about the title - in nature, cuckoo birds do not make nests of their own, opting instead for laying their eggs in other bird's nests. The host bird then takes care of the egg, which hatches and grows quickly, usually killing off the host bird's own eggs and babies.

Those kids needed someone to have an honest sitdown with them to explain to them that no matter how powerful they think of themselves, they wouldn't survive for long if they kept that behavior up.
Sure, their telekinesis allowed them to throw people around, but so could a man with sufficient strength. Sure, they could brainwash people into doing what they wanted, but so could a person with sufficient knowledge and time.
What they lacked was a parental figure that could properly convey to them that no matter how STRONG they are, there's always someone incomprehensibly stronger lurking somewhere, ready to pounce the moment they make a mistake.
I was born into a family where all the men were either killed or imprisoned, and my father was among them. After getting out of prison, he taught me that I was on the same path unless I learned to control my anger and strength.
These kids didn't have a parent there, among ALL the parents, to teach them that the worst thing that can happen ISN'T what they had imagined. The worst thing that can happen is horrific, violent death.

I mean the idea seems to be good, it has enough tension and base to grow anywhere... but then we end up in a situation 'well we don't know anything... but they are dead now again...' ..
What was their purpose, their goal... we've seen their powers (partially)... but then again we did not progress beyond that...
The fact that one of them was able to cut himself out from the hive (by pain) because he wanted to do something different... would signal that they are individuals ... which actually could provide a basis for conversation and development. Like the one who stopped punishing her parents when her sister showed up... so much potential for a proper series... so few answers...
Altough the fact that they were here once and returned... they could return once again... but i guess they will be even more angry...

By having a hive mind it is easy for children to share or convince themselves of common goals. The reason one child was different was because he managed to accidentally hurt himself in the earlier stages and this took him out of that hive connection, giving him real individuality, but that is hard to maintain if he gets too influenced by other kids, many wanted their parents because they treated them well, but as soon as this was questioned by the rest of the hive they quickly changed their minds to agree with their brothers. Having experienced individuality and being questioned by others, he began to fear them, and began to hide information from them to avoid giving in to the hive's every whim, so he managed to separate himself from the hive's influence.
Looking at it from that perspective if we compare it to the 90s movie, we are shown that the hive mind is easily influenced by a particular individual of the children who has the greatest mentality or character, being like an innate leader despite sharing consciousness, he puts himself before others and, being stronger, changes them at his will.

Personally, I think it's good when book adaptations don't stray too far from the original story. Imagine someone did Romeo & Juliette and let them survive to have a happy ending - that'd just be weird and kill the vibe of the original story = tragedy.

There’s another version of a similar story with a more grim ending: the children are licked in a windowless metal cellar. The cellar is airtight so the parents hear the children’s screams until they slowly die out. More impactful and what the movie should have used. One more version allows the children to stand “in control” in the middle of a barren Russian wood in the middle of winter. The children cannot actually fend for themselves as they are all linked together and don’t want any of the others parents helping them as they squabble they all begin to freeze to death, in turn freezing the connection, with all the children dying slowly of exposure to the Russian winter.

I am currently crying so hard right now. This is seriously the most beautiful, well put together story ever. I can’t believe how magical it was when it said “will you take me to funky town” that part truly made me shed a tear. And especially at 6:34 that part was just so truly heart touching words can not describe the series of emotions I felt. I absolutely loved the climax it had insanely excellent detail. Oh and we can’t forget the conclusion. The conclusion was the greatest and saddest conclusion I have ever seen better than any of the books I have read. Thank you so much for creating this absolute masterpiece. This is essentially the most important masterpiece of film history. It is a tragedy that this, it can’t be called a film, but a transcendent emotional experience, will be inaccessible for most. It beautifully encapsulates the human struggle to its basics; suffering, pleasure, faith, despair. It connects with the characters within the viewers, individuals suppressed within our own subconscious. It stays vibrant, fresh, and revolutionises the art of storytelling and filmmaking while making a damn of statement on what it means to be human. Entertaining, gripping, and simply exhilarating. This might be the most impactful piece of art I’ve come across in my life, and I’m definitely coming back to it in the near future to study it more deeply. this is an absolute masterpiece , I was brought to tears listening to this and seeing the chip go whirly swirly in a circle countless times. it absolutely moved my soul , and i don't think I can ever be the same. this chip has changed my entire mental state , I am now at peace with who I am and what I will be doing later in my life. i have forgiven all my enemies and now I am a man of a pacifist life. i will move on , gotta move on , as the song says. the chip is so inspirational , it shares it vast wisdom with all of us , and we are all so lucky that it would bestow it's great words with us. we are all children on chip. hail chip. hail chip. The spinning chip, rotating in one direction with this music... This made me tear up. How could such a chip do such a thing? Im struck by awe by this masterpiece. Especially when the chip spins, showing its lightly salt covered tan skin. I can hear the crunch just from here, and so as the beautiful sound of the chip scraping the dark, smooth velvet floor. The flavour, music and everything can be heard, tasted, seen and felt from a screen. You can really hear the breaths between the music artist, empathising her love for this rotating chip. Truly what I call modern art. This was the most legendary performance by any chip I have ever watched. The acting was top tier and very life changing. This is one of the greatest work from a chip I have ever seen especially on 17:24. Truly what I call modern art. This was the most legendary performance by any chip I have ever watched. The acting was top tier and very life changing. This is one of the greatest work from a chip I have ever seen especially on 57:42. and This film has wonderful character devolepment. If you pay attention you can see him speeding up and then slowing down multiple times. This shows that he is getting confident in his moves, gaining more energy then losing it from pushing himself to far. This made me shed a tear I believe that this chip has feelings and us watching this, and commeting on his video is making him inspired. I think that he is happy that so many people are shedding tears because of how good his moves are. I saw a comment saying that this video saved his marriage, and I can only imagine how good that made this chip feel. I am so happy that this chip is finding happiness and I could help get him more by posting this comment. I hope that in the future we will see more of this chip. If we do I will likely cry because this cup is so inspiring. me personally, I think that this chip is showing that we can do anything no matter what we are. To me he is saying "Look, I am a chip, but I can still accopmplise my dreams of dancing" Thinking off how motivated this chip must be made me sob. One day I hope to spread the same message to hundreds of people, just like this chip. and What a beautiful story that everybody should watch. Our journey starts at 3:57 where our protagonists are introduced. Then, we see our antagonist at 6:39, where he is crying in his room after another bad grade on his very important exam. This part made me shed a tear when we could see how vulnerable our antagonist is on the inside. Then, my favorite battle is around 12:53, where everyone encourages the main protagonist and the antagonist to battle. The main reason this is my favorite battle is because we can see our antagonist and his main weakness, speed. After that, we can clearly see him get damaged physically and emotionally, and maybe even mentally. This truly made me cry, as I can see the pain he goes through and how we can apply that in our lives, when we get knocked down. After some time, we are introduced to our first injury, one of the protagonists. His rotator cuff was turned the wrong way, and now couldn't battle with the antagonist. Then, swiftly, we are introduced to our second fight scene at 34:21, where our second protagonist gets majorly hurt. After the paralyzing emotions I go through in this fight, we see a training sequence with some comedy relief at 41:38, before the final battle at 49:41. This is really where we see the antagonist and main protagonist go through some pain and determination. The main protagonist ends up on top, even though he is majorly hurt and was about to perish. my favorite quote is at 58:21, where our main protagonist goes, "Really, you went for the arm instead of the head or heart?" I was brought to tears after we see the city in shambles after this fight scene. This gave me many emotions, but I can say that this was a masterpiece of a movie conveying a great message, and I would totally recommend you watch it. and This is a cinematic masterpiece and helped me when I was in a dark era in my life. When I was in around my first year of middle school my parents died after eating too many potato chips. I visibly remember the day I went back to my house just after school. I was coming home on the bus at around 4 in the afternoon right after my classes ended. I was talking to my friend who at that time was sitting next to me. We were talking about all sorts of stuff, for example we where talking about the scores we got on our last math test. At that time I was completely oblivious from the things that were about to transpire. My bus stop was one of, if not the last, bus stop. As soon as I arrived at my bus stop I rushed home getting ready to hop on my PC and start playing some games. But, when I came through the front door I saw my parents on the ground. My mom still had the bag of chips in her had. I was so shocked, all I could do was just stand there and watch. I felt helpless watching my dad still trying to shove those chips in his mouth before he passed out. After a few minutes of dreadful silence, I got my act together and rushed to get my phone

The most unrealistic thing about this show is that American agents & soldiers didn't turn-up uninvited and claim - with open threats of lethal force against any officials or civilians who displayed opposition - that they had authority over the situation above that of the British government...

I think for copyright reasons they don't put it in the description or title. Only in the video itself. It can't be easily searched. I think some movie studios try to get these recap videos taken down as people can't be bothered to watch the movie when you've just been shown the entire plot.

My apologies. It wasn’t this recap. I follow multiple movie recaps and there are some that do not mention or show the title of the movie. It’s not a problem cause I can always google what I know of the movie or any big actors.
Not this recap but it’s just a minor hassle to find. I like finding hidden gems. Thanks for the replies though, I’ll be sure to say this under the right videos next time 🤭
