  • The Ina-Kozawa Station opened on December 30, 1936 as a the Sanshin Railway station. After that, the Sanshin Railway Co., Ltd. was nationalized on August 1, 1943 during World War II and became part of the Iida Line. The Iida Line is now owned and operated by JR Central.
The Tenryu village was difficult to build a railway because of its steep terrain and small population. However, railroad were built to connect the populous inland Inadani (Ina valley) with cities on the Pacific coast, and to build dams to generate hydroelectric power.
Most of the tea made in Japan is green tea, but the Tenryū village makes black tea. The climate and topography of this village may be similar to those of tea-producing regions in India.
