This video is the third installment of the overactive bladder series and focuses on interpreting the results of your bladder diary to identify the bladder retraining techniques that are best for you! The way you explained about hydrating fluid is point on. Patients walk in completely avoiding coffee, tea, and I would personally say to limit those and focus on hydration rather than elimination.. if thats not the underlying trigger.
I have just found your channel and I love how informative, structured and compassionate you are! You really consider the different needs of each individual when you give advice and I find it so comforting! Thank you so much 💗
My heart 🧡 thank you so much for taking the time to share such kind words, I really appreciate it. I'm so glad that my content has been helpful for you, and I really hope that you find your healing soon!
I had to retrain my bladder after I would always force pee before I would go anywhere or drive somewhere. It was so bad because even though I didn't have to pee I would just "incase I need to". It got to a point where I had to actually pee all the time. It actually gave me anxiety and prevented me from going anywhere. I took a medication called betmiga after seeing a specialist. Then I used my time at home to retrain my bladder.
Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry that you struggled with urgency/frequency! It can be really debilitating, and I don't think people realize how trainable the bladder truly is! I'm SO glad that you were able to see the right provider, get the right medication, and retrain your bladder at home. It must feel so good to be on the other side of that experience 🧡
@@PelvicEmpowerment yep absolutely. I still have a little bit of anxiety around it from time to time but I am doing better thankfully. Thank you for the informative videos. Your patients are super lucky to have you!!
@@sarahheartsmakeup8167 I'm SO glad you're doing better, and that little bit of anxiety is so understandable. I know our experiences are different, but I see the parallels in my own healing surrounding my anxiety surrounding certain "provocative activities" that I've demonstrated to myself that I *can* tolerate but still feel a little anxious about. The last two installations of this series focus on urge suppression techniques, proper behavior surrounding toileting, and proper toilet positioning. I bet they'll be the most helpful for you in quelling that little bit of anxiety that remains! Have a good urge suppression technique that you can trust has made a world of difference for my patients in the past, and marrying that with control over the toileting really seems to make a difference. And thank you so much for your kind words! I look forward to getting back to treating. I'm actually intending to create a telehealth option here soon, once I have a little more healing under my belt!
I always wear absorbent products to be on the safe side. On the one end it helps me not going the to the toilet just in case, on the other I might give up too soon because I know that I am protected.
You are not alone in that experience at all. I had many patients report doing the same, and I would always encourage them to practice without the pads in a safe place first, like at home where it's okay to have an accident, and then, once they mastered the skill in private, to start experimenting with public places (but on a sliding scale pending comfort, maybe starting with a location where you know where the bathroom is and can easily access it before places that don't have restrooms!). Have you considered pelvic physical therapy at all? If you feel you might benefit from both the lifestyle/brain-bladder retraining techniques I've outlined in this series as well as physical intervention, a good pelvic PT might be a helpful member of your healthcare team. @@PelvicEmpowerment i have developed severe toilet phobia ruining my life i have mixed incontinence, and bowel leakage.I have seen the continence team and was told i have mixed incontinence and the nurse specialist did an internal and said that my pelvic floor muscle is on a scale of 3 out of 5 and told me to told pelvic floor exercises for life, limit caffeine, drink no more than 2 litres a day.I was also told that episitomy i had many years ago has weakened my muscle. Therefore i wear pads but i feel my dignity has been taken away im only in my late 40s, and i probably will not have a relationship no more as im disgusted and embarrassed with myself. For me artificial sweeteners trigger off my ibs.

I took some time to thoughtfully reply to your original comment over on the anorectal manometry video - please do go check out what I wrote. Sending you a big internet hug 🧡

Great series. I would have appreciated your putting Pt. 1, Pt. 2, etc. in the video titles in this series.
