    I cried real tears when I played this game. I'm late 40s and played cyberpunk 2020 in the late eighties and early nineties. It was a favourite, from system to setting. CP2077 was such a hit of nostalgia to my teenage years it almost broke me. CP2077 is a sequel to an adventure in the core book "never fade away". It's nuts how well they got the lore and feeling down. Plus they managed to transform "Chipin' In" from total cringe to an absolute banger of a song. that right there is a blood miracle.

    The conversation immersion really hit me early in the game, went to meet Jackie and he was at a street food vendor and V sat with him and casually chatted while he ate. Just a few more mins longer than the usual "speak to, get mission and maybe few optional lines and go" most games have. But that casual sit and chat was so natural it made the extraordinary setting seem casual and natural too, I was immediately immersed.

    • @Bourinos02
      @Bourinos02 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      That's quite a paradox, I found that Jackie segment to be one of the most rushed moments in the game, instead of actually playing the game along with him, the moment when they showed us the short 30 seconds montage of "us" and Jackie fraternizing was the moment I knew something was seriously wrong with the game.
      I wouldn't even mind a complete DLC dedicated to just doing gigs and getting street cred with Jackie.

    • @Tuberuser187
      @Tuberuser187 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@Bourinos02 I can see where you are coming from, the thing with the montage is that yes its rushed but it is actually present. Many times in various storytelling across forms of media from books onward is we just get left with the presumption that characters are the greatest friends, tight bonds or long standing tension. The montage showed the kind of life they lived, it didn't need to reinforce the connection between the pair at that time. It was the stage being set rather than the play, once you start the story properly is the opening act of the play.
      Everyone is affected differently, for me once I was properly in control of V the going home to chill after all the chaos and then just meeting Jackie whilst he eats lunch and chatting put the brakes on the story pacing to cement those two having everyday normal interactions helped my immersion.

    • @marky6456
      @marky6456 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Tuberuser187 There's a reason for that. Because it's better overall than montages. Montages make things feels rushed and cheapened out.

    • @mr.clymate7489
      @mr.clymate7489 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      it was a good prologue. I wish the game was longer because it really seemed like there was more story to tell. Notice that Jackie's segment was the only montage one besides Johnny if you can call it that as we were just skipping through his memories. It was a compact story to really sell us on the idea that Jackie would be there for us throughout the entire game. I found Jackie's whole goal to become a legend lead me down the path to the secret ending when the game first launch. I wanted to live up to that promise he made V no matter what sorry Panam, not calling ya.😂

    I only picked up CP2077 maybe a month ago, my sister and I had watched BladeRunner 2049 on my new TV…when suddenly I remembered that I needed that dystopian future/cyber noir vibe in my life. On a series X, with a 4K tv that can do 120hz refresh rate…this game and its story just hit the spot. I haven’t been this invested in a single player game since SKYRIM…and that says something. I’ve just walked around aimlessly taking in the environment…and man does it look and feel good

    I’ll always defend Cyberpunk. When it came out my best friend had just died and I was alone in an unfamiliar city I had moved to (see the parallels?). Playing the game helped me to kind of vicariously move past from. I cried for the first time in years during parts, hell I even learned how to play many SAMURAI songs on my bass. the game really does have potential but why I'm personally on the other end is because of all the lying and deceit around release. they had so many roads they could take but they chose to lie and ship an unfinished product. If they would be honest explain their situation and release in early access I'd be way more on board with that but that wouldn't sell as well. In the end its ironic how a game that depicts and shuns corporate greed falls victim to that exact thing.

    The soundtrack and overall sound direction added a depth of character to the game that I have never really experienced to this level. Just started playing this game a few days ago. I feel like I’m in a movie whenever I play it. I always loved the Cyberpunk theme ever since Farcry: Blood dragon. That got me into movies like blade runner, 5 element, Dredd. So when I play this game I feel like it was made for me. It’s literally feels like some of my favorite games mixed with some of my favorite movies.

    You hit the nail on the head with the part about V actually having a voice and the ability to ACTUALLY SPEAK. It conveys so much more emotion and draws you into the game and story even more. I'm extremely disappointed that Bethesda did not give the protagonist the ability to verbally respond and address the NPCs throughout the game. But that gripe aside; This game, Cyberpunk 2077, now has a spot in my top 5. Maybe even my top 3 games of all time.

      I also like that that little thing made it so that remaining silent at points becomes a choice. It stops being a thing you do because the game doesn't allow anything else, and instead becomes a deliberate act of omission on your part.
      And as an example: in the street kid opening, Padre will react completely differently to you staying silent over cutting off that rando six street to tell him how much of a nothing he is. If you cut him off, Padre will be happy to see you are still the same V he knew, if you stay silent, tho, he will note you've changed. And sure, it isn't much and has practically no influence on the rest of the game - The only thing it doing is just tell you about V a bit... and that is a good thing to learn about the character you're playing - but it is still way more than the literal nothing you usually get.

    My favorite part of the game was the ending. All of them were unique and well done in my opinion. Especially the "secret" ending where you and Johnny go through the front doors of Arasaka without any outside help and immediately start blasting your way to your goal. I felt as if it truly encapsulated theme of the game. One last act of rebellion against the corporations.

    My main gripe is i just wanted more immersion. To feel like I'm living in this world. Add some gambling mini games in casinos, inviting a character for drinks at a bar, those purchasable braindances to actually be braindances, a rep system with gangs and cops, more interactions with your "romance" option, etc.
    The setting and atmosphere of this game are unparalleled and I just want it to be utilized to its fullest potential. If they want to move on to the next CP game, they can and should reuse the whole map imo and just add features and such.

      What blows me away is how deep some parts get in contrast to how shallow the rest is, the main quest is what, 8 missions if you don't do any of the branching side quests? Meanwhile they were able to interweave somany gigs and NCPD jobs together AND have them branch and affect eachother and spawn dialog as a result of you doing them *Jotaro Shoto as an example* that made how shallow the romances and main plot were stick out even worse. Like River/Panam, your gonna tell me after hanging out with a group of nomads for 2 days they are willing to help me assault the largest corp on the planet? Granted I saved their leaders life, and helped them steal a tank, but for the entire group to risk their lives for someone they met 2 days ago? But river, ex cop who is sick of the system and is trying to do the right thing to let his lover storm Arasaka alone? I feel like all the departments who wrote and developed the game never got on the same page to put the whole story together and its just sad. The world is fantastic, the gunplay is great, the writing CAN be good but never hit its full potential.
      I agree, my first thought for them making the game so demanding was so they could use this world for like a decade and just pump out DLC's and expansions and maybe even a sequel before having to reubild it, but now it looks like everything is getting scrapped and they are going to switch to Unreal so all of what they did manage to pull off is going to go to waste.

    This game spoke to me early on when it was announced, it was a love hate relationship at first that ended in an incomplete playthrough due to bugs not letting me progress but after a few big patches, an upgraded pc, and a second chance this game has become my all time favorite game ever. Absolutely obsessed with it and I’m depressed for days ever time I’m near the end. Despite its bugs and flaws it’s still a technical accomplishment with one of the best stories in all of gaming. Found your channel from your most recent video immediately smashed the sub button, but then I just had to watch this one. Well done my dude, I put like 400 hours into CP2077 after it launched because the whole setting is just so damn interesting to me. Then mods started coming out and I expanded things further. After finally seeing every life path to a different end for male and female V I took a break for a couple years.
    Now I'm finally picking it back up to get to that DLC content and holy hell has the modding community done it's thing. The amount of custom quests and interactions people have added is awesome and the amount of new clothing and such is just nuts. Even a whole bunch of new custom cars, I just love to see it.
    While even I was mad about the launch I still absolutely love this game and really hope they'll be able to do even better whenever they get around to releasing the next game in the cyberpunk world.

    One of the recent updates to the game added some more interactions with your love interests. Getting text messages from Judy's concerned grandmother as she talks to you to make sure you're good for her granddaughter and what your intentions are, really broke me. Everyone in this game is suffering to some degree, dealing with challenges, unfulfilled dreams and ambitions, but this little moment of bright humanity just really hit me. Thank you, CDPR.

    Man don't hit me with The Star like that without warning, now I'm crying. I loved the Sleep option and the details of body language, did you notice how our partners will move in their sleep? it felt so... Human. The human interactions in this game are wonderful and show a lot of passion and just how much time, effort and love was put on this game. Sadly it'll go down on history like one of the worst launches, but everyones experience was different. I have 2 friends, they both bought it at launch, both PC. One had an almost bug free run (110 hours) with only graphic bugs that didn't affect gameplay, the other had a game plagued with game breaking bugs. I myself loved the game, played it 1 year after release, had an almost bug free run (minor graphic bugs). And man, the human conexion I felt with this game... Even more after 2 years of almost complete isolation, I love this game and I'm eager to see what comes next and what will modders do haha. That said, I want to congratulate you, great video, the way you used the music, your narration and overall analysis, nova. Keep it up choom!

    25:30 The only issue I have with Jackie's death is that it happens too soon from the player POV. It's implied in the game that a significant amount has passed between the start of V's story and Jack's demise. V is very close to him and it's clear they have been through a lot together, but from the player's perspective his death imo happend when I wasn't yet super attached to his character as much as I would have liked to be. He is so instantly likeable and relatable, I think his death would have been that much more impactful (Think Aerith's death in FF7 levels of impactful) if we had spend a bit more time with him in-game.

      Since his death was revealed in the promotional material

      What we got was under-cooked for such a great character

      My opinion (shared by many) is that the V/Jackie montage in the beginning was meant to be a playable chapter in the game. I believe the game would have been much better if the Gig with DeShawn was pushed back until you explored the world doing gigs and building your rep first. Then the heist would make more sense, and you could have a rush to the finish fighting the clock on the time bomb in your head.

    SPOILERS AHEAD. Also one thing that I find hard to adress in videos because of spoilers is the endings. You develop a relationship with the game, with the NPCs, even with your V, and at the end, there are no happy endings, you need to chose what to sacrifice in order to get what you think is the highest reward, and that hits hard. It reminded me of the Fallout NV: Lonesome Road ending, where one of your options is to sacrifice ED-E in order to save more lives, but in a complete different level due to the "human" interactions in Cyberpunk.

    Just finished this game, and it is such a shame some would never give this game a chance because of the state in launched in. I unfortunately, have not been able to get my hands on any next gen console just yet so I played this on my good ol' PS4 Slim. I took the risk and got it on sale and apart from 1 almost game breaking bug, the game played just fine. Occasional pop ins every now and then, but I learnt to ignore them as I spent more time with the game. CDPR is definitely an amazing studio. They did NOT disappoint with this game. I never imagined getting attached to the characters in this game, but the way the narrative expands beyond the main story is phenomenal. I actually felt like V, desperately looking for answers about the Relic and potentially getting ready to say my goodbyes to the people I met along the way. Gameplay loop was enjoyable, creating my own fun was easy. Loved the journey with Johnny and the ending I got. I just wish there was more. What happens after, you know? In a different world, this game would have launched in a well done state and would have been praised. I still think it deserves accolades for the commitment of the team. It's not perfect just yet, but a lot better than before. Kudos CDPR; can't wait to see what you put out next!

    Been following this game since it’s first ever announcement, even after playing it day 1 and going against the constant bugs and crashes, I did not not at all let that deter me from enjoying it, and I enjoyed it every single day. I’m on my third play through and I’ve gotta say, this has been the only game as far as I can remember, that I actually look forward to playing through over and over again. When an open world game actually makes you want to just walk to an objective, just to take in the sights and ambience, I think that says a lot.

Your summary at the end was pretty much my experience, having been disappointed by the release and pre-ordering on 2 of 3 platforms (has since ruined me for pre-orders from then on). Cyberpunk is special. 2 years later, from this video with Edgerunners, The DLC, and 2.0 all dropping and making the game into a moderate success with a cult fan base to one of the most beloved games of the 2020s almost overnight. And it's 100% deserved.
    The initial hate train from streamers and youtubers about Cyberpunk did so much harm to the game that it was nuts. I played it on a dying xbox one x, and it was my goty. When i 100% it and then replayed it all again after a few updates, it became a top 10 game for me. The DLC, the anime, learning the lore, then 2.0, and the game is top 5 all time for me.
    I can't stress enough how horrible it felt being a mega fan of this game the months after release. I begged everyone to play. I'm glad videos like this validated me even if Imagine only finding it 2 years too late

    The most annoying thing for me were just the quest bugs. Played on launch date and almost every 2nd quest was bugged where I had to reload a save file or restart the game. Though I had not experienced one single crash in my over 80h playtime. Loved the story, the characters & the music. After the ending I just felt so empty. Even with all these annoying bugs it's still one of my favorite games. But I haven't touched the game since I've finished it & I'm waiting for the expansions since then.

    I thoroughly enjoyed this game on release even through the bugs and crashes. For months I played it having some of the most fun I'd ever had and unlocking cyberware to enhance my play style. Through every mission, including side quests, I was more absorbed in the story and Kerry's storyline was what caught me. As a lover of guitar I felt like I was able to kinda live out that feeling of being on stage. Though it wasn't until I heard his song on the yacht that I fell in love with Cyberpunk 2077.
