I love my FTR. I picked up a used 2019 model because for me the 2022 model is less capable. Sometimes I have to go down a flat trail or long gravel roads here in Alaska. I love the FTR so much I bought one even though we have no dealer up here.
I used to have a Triumph Street Triple, and really enjoyed it. I've heard many people compare the FTR to the Street Triple, or the Speed Triple. I may get the FTR Rally.
I bought the S version. I much prefer the maroon to the carbon fibre look. The Sachs suspension is plenty good enough. I'm 5'8" and can comfortably manage it.
Nice review. I went and test rode one yesterday after watching this. I went there ready to buy, but for whatever reason I didn't *need* it after. Hugely disappointed, and I can't figure out why. Just didn't speak to me. The dealership associate was riding a Thruxton R on our test ride and I asked if we could switch partway through. I enjoyed that one a lot more - just felt more connected to the experience, if that makes sense. I might just be drawn more toward that style of bike. The associate said the 2022 FTR was a better experience than the one he'd ridden from a couple years ago. Every time I see one I'm going to be a little sad we didn't connect.
I have owned a Thruxton (see the vids on this channel) and I would get a Thrux well before this bike. In my opinion, this bike is for going really fast and that's about it. 100 mile range is a real bummer.
Test rode both got the '19 model, running in I've been getting mid 50's mpg, it is ok comfort I find but Wed I rode all day and was thinking about a kidney belt 🙃, you need to start looking for fuel when it drops below half, also filling properly full takes practice I found! Great bike, still smiling!
These things will put a Stage 2+ HD in a headlock and steal its lunch. When you tune it, slap on an exhaust and intake, forget it. One of these just set a record for a 1 MILE WHEELIE at 147mph. Really impressive package for its price. We have a 2020 model at work for $220/month, 0% down. For that price, I have a hard time saying riding one of these isn't worth at least that price. A lightly tickled Sportster 1200 makes around 68hp, and costs EASILY $15,000. To me, the price complaint doesn't stand. This is a machine with engineering worth 20k.
@@pin75us1 It's a great machine. I commute on it & take it up the canyons here In Utah. It really isn't a cruiser at all, it actually handles similarly to my old Ninja 650 but with a lot more gusto. No matter how long my rides are I never get sore or anything and it fits me well at 5'11". There's been an assumption that long rides would be uncomfortable but I've never experienced any discomfort.
@@pin75us1 It is very different from a scout I'll tell you that. Riding position, comfort, all that stuff. I plan to own a cruiser along side my FTR one day. Just completely different riding purposes.
you say its a light bike...but the carbon is 511 pounds...its kinda heavy...it doesn't feel as heavy as it is, but like a street triple...since you mentioned it is 366 pounds...the FTR is a heavy bike. i have some miles on one, and you can feel it some...not as much as you would think, its well built and balanced...but it isn't light.

Thank you for the comprehensive review. Amazing how clearly your mic is during the drive. Keep up the great reviews!

Well I hope you’re feeling better by now.

You know it!
Rode this exact bike on the Indian Demo Day yesterday. It was a a fun bike to ride and makes want to add one to my collection.
It looks like an awesome motorcycle! About as close as you can get to the FTR750 Flat Tracker. Thank-you for the review!
You bet!

I own the 2022 FTR standard, it is amazing. I would've gotten the carbon if they let you pick the colors but they don't sadly :(
How do you like it so far? I have a scout I’m thinking of trading it in.

What kind of range do you get? I've heard that the range isn't great on these things
Great vid! Thanks! From San Francisco, CA.
Will certainly be interested if they ever give it a 50% increase in fuel tank size
That would be nice. It is very comfortable on the highway.
No that’d mess with the balance and look
Me a 5'9.... Hearing people calling the FTR Small 😯😯
Love my 19 FTR, not ideal for long rides tho.

I live in New England. Where is this route?
NH Motor Speedway
Geez. No range (100 miles and looking for gas?!). Borderline suspension?
Great motorcycle.
The brakes are designed to stop lol
Cool bike but 100 mile range deal killer
Agreed!
Why did they put such small gas tank. Deal killer is right. Should be min 4.5 gal
Could you ride any slower?😂
