    The new ‘23 models have the 4” round TFT gauge like the chief, instead of the big rectangle gauge. It looks better imo. Absolutely great looking bike. Pretty much the only Indian motorcycle I have any interest in, and I’m extremely interested in it.
    It’s as close to a “sport” bike as I would be willing to go, and I’m very willing to go there! If I didn’t already have a ‘21 Low Rider S, I would be all about this bike!

      @@harrycrumb742I have a 23 FTR Carbon and they all have the round display now. The rallye and some others have a analog gauge. The higher trims it’s an all digital 4” display and it’s kinda meh. I preferred the 4.3

    Great review, thank you! I’d consider one of these. As I get older, 64, the full blown sport bikes are getting more and more uncomfortable.
    I’m not sure about the Indian brand, reliability, durability, parts cost and availability.
    Regardless, I saw one on the street the other day, I used to run 1/2 mile, this bike caught my eye.

    The FTR1200 has done a 1/2/3 position podium sweep in the MotoAmerica Super Hooligans series multiple times. This is against both KTM, Ducati and more. It is a road legal race bike and it's manners and bones prove it. The trophies do too!
    Just for when you need it again!

    Very exotic sounding name, Akrapovic lol.

    I bought a 2023 FTR1200 Carbon R and oh boy what a Hoot. I thought the stock seat was fine for short rides but long rides not so much. Thankfully Indian makes a optional comfort seat witch I bought the first week of owning the bike and it's worth every penny. What a difference. Also I bought all the Carbon bits that Indian has in there catalog. It's a Carbon R so I finished it off with all the Carbon that Indian makes. I also agree about the exhaust. To me it's ugly and way to quiet. Now I know some people think loud pipes are anoing but I've been riding on the street since I was 13. I'm 61 now. Loud pipes do save lives. Not only that I like to hear the exhaust so I know better ware my power is in gear selecting. So I will get the 50 legal S&S full system side pipes. The mirrors work very good but look very old fashioned. I think better for a retroe bike but looks out of place on the FTR1200. So I bought some black bullet mirrors from Italy. Looks much better. All in all. This bike does nothing wrong at all. Even when I screw up and have to panic brake and or move around quickly. It just dose everything right. This bike is definitely one of the most fun bikes I've ever ridden. And I've ridden hundreds of motorcycles. I strongly recommend this bike for play riding. It's that much fun.

    Best freaking naked middleweight in the business. The other channels looking at nakeds are talking up Z-900's, MT-09's, KTM 890's but seem to avoid the FTR 1200 and I can guess why... Because I beat the shit out of all these in straight, canyons, and looks!!!!

    • @popdatclutch3010

    • @BikesDrones
      @BikesDrones 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I sold my 2018 CB1000R and bought the 2022 Indian FTR Carbon R. The riding position and comfort levels are really similar. Both are comfortable for 2 hour rides until you get a numb bum. (both have hard flat seats). The Indian is a clear winner on low down torque and the CB has more top end. Once you take the baffles out of the FTR the sound is hands down the winner and a big part of the enjoyment. Both are premium bikes with good quality finish and attention to detail. I love the twin cylinder grunt but hate the shit fuelling when trying to do lower speed constant throttle riding very herky jerky, grab a handful of throttle and it is intoxicating but not as scary as the CB in the top end.The FTR has cruise control but it is terrible below 55 mph , bucks you around back and forth but works well at highway speeds, no CC option for the Honda. I fitted the OEM quickshifter to the CB and it was fantastic a real game changer especially in the twisties with the hole in the torque between 4500 to 6000 rpm, bang it down a couple of gears and launch out of the corners, no quickshifter on the Indian but you don't need to change through the gears as much, as it pulls hard from about 4000 rpm in any gear. The CB has a 200 mile range and the FTR has a 120 mile range and is a pain to fill up with the design of the tiny tank. Both are great bikes, the FTR is a very visceral emotive ride and the CB is exciting when you give it the beans and it doesn't have the niggling design flaws of the FTR. Both bikes would benefit from remapping, the FTR for the jerky throttle and the CB to improve mid range torque. The Euro emission regs have negatively affected both bikes in different ways. Cheers.

      It's not "Americans." It's the Harley riders. That's what they ride and they don't know or care about anything else. They do their dress up costumes and they go loud and slow. Plenty of real riders in the states know what these companies are and what they make.

    • @jordanjoestar8839
      @jordanjoestar8839 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The FTR is a full blown race bike, the Diavel is more of a power cruiser. The FTR enjoys stoppies, wheelies, power slides and real Hoon behavior. The Diavel will do the following, but a lot less happily lol.
      FTR is multi championship winning chassis in MotoAmerica. Often taking 1st, 2nd AND 3rd over KTM and Ducati.

    I don't mind the heft and the size of it. I learnt to ride on a +550lbs UJM.
    I particularly like the Carbon version too.
    HOWEVER, my only beef it's the "electric car" range (too short) on this thing if you start flogging it.
    Give it a 4.5 or 5.0 gallon tank and you'll have me attention.
    And if it's got FBW butterflies throw in there Cruise Control too.

      It's winning races in MotoAmerica and is a fantastic American Hoon machine. It's basically a factory race/stunt bike. I work at a motorcycle dealership and I dearly love the Z900 and CB so when I say they aren't the same at all, I'm not kidding. Sure, better top end and similar chassis shapes, but thats where it ends.

Also any naked sport bike is going to have a similar rider triangle to ftr. In general, its only when you get into faired sports bikes do you get the really aggressive riding position.

    Close on Akropovic, it's "Uh Crop Of Itch". I got the 2022 FTR Standard 2 years ago. I was planning the Toce 2-1 full system & really loved the black/red coloring the best so decided not to pay for all the stock upgrades like the Akropovic that would've just been a waste, & I told them if the TFT was like the one on the Chief it would be more enticing, that big flat screen was kinda overkill. The suspension I'll upgrade when they need to finally be replaced. The FTR is a premium riding experience for sure though & the best bike I've ever blasted up the Utah canyon twisties on, also is my daily commuter. Highly recommended.
