    This was my day with the 2007 bmw E60 550i. I've never taken my 2007 BMW E60 550i MSPORT to enjoy the twisties but today i did and it was clear to see why i loved this 2007 BMW E60 550I so much. I can see why every journalist would choose the manual BMW E60 550i when comparing the the others in this segment. it was a celebration of having this car for 8 years and I'm still loving this 2007 BMW E60 550I MSPORT like the first day that I bought it.

    Manual trans, RWD, 400+ HP V8, 4 doors, space for family, ease of maintenance (wish I could say the same for E60's) and loads and loads of fun in all roads.

    I've had my 07 550i manual for 6yrs now n ill never sell her. I'm going to be buried in it.
    No lies, I've spent a small fortune in maintenance n repairs but I know her like the back of my hand. After I do my valve stem seals she'll be 100%
    I'm up to about 50k in ownership costs including the 23k purchase price. Wouldn't change anything. She runs like a champ at 135k miles. Had her since 43k miles. She's lowered, powdercoated stock rims, intake.
    After the seals, I'm doing headers, upgrade the head unit to android and throw some sticky rubber on her n a lip trunk spoiler n she's done.
    A note to future owners. You need to have money to own this. At least knowledge going in that its going to run ur pockets. its no e60 m5 maintenance costs but it's close lol. But it's worth every penny. It really is a perfect balance of a machine.
    50/50 weight distribution, aluminum up front, steel in the rear.
    Rear wheel drive
    Manual
    V8
    3800lbs
    360hp/360tq
    Hydraulic steering and brakes
    What's not to love? It has aged wonderfully, feels amazing, and gives a rewarding driving experience. It's not perfect, far from it, but it brings a smile to my face every time I see her so there's no price on that.
    As u know. Tc fellow e60er

      @@letsrollout7307 exactly. The funny part is when I first saw this car I said no because it was a "bmw" and I didn't want the stigma attached to me with owning one.
      It was between this and a first gen maroon ctsv. I had to be talked into getting this. Glad I did because it was the best car decision I ever made.
      I'm now a bmw fan. Not a fanboy but I'll definitely recommend them. I just made a 2900mile journey to seattle in my 07 550 and it made it without 1 hiccup. Thats how much I trust her. Funny thing is I still prefer the v8 rumble my 550i was straight piped, the v10 is high pitched and raspy at times but is very exotic. To answer your question mine is an SMG, I didn't want the manual to be honest. I think the only benefit to the manual version is its valued more and has less issues. My car is a 2010 which is the last production year so it has much less issues than the early models. Other than that the SMG out performs the manual, its faster and much more brutal the bad part about SMG is city and traffic driving. My 550i was a perfect daily driver the my m5 is just a weekend warrior, just to have some fun on the weekends. But comparing to the 550i the m5 is a completely new level, sometimes its scary to drive, I am still getting used to 507 horsepower :)

      LET'S ROLL OUT Small update: the alternator bracket gasket and the valve cover gaskets were leaking, after I fixed the valve cover gaskets, thus sealing more pressure, the alternator bracket gasket completely gave out due to this spilling out ALL my oil on the ground, it was pretty scary because you can’t tell where the oil is from. If your car has more than 100,000 miles on it I recommend changing that part immediately, mainly ALL 550i’s end up with that major issue. It’s a $5 part. Luckily the 550i’s actually have an oil cooler so that part isn’t useless lol, every other model I’m the e60 has it as an auxiliary option...which means it’s useless. Hope this helps you out in the future and doesn’t cause as much anxiety as it did to Me. If your 550i ever leaks, the most common leaks are 1) valve cover gaskets, or 2) the stupid alternator bracket gasket.

    Hello again! I did end up buying the one I looked at. Thanks again for your video! I had a couple questions for you. First off, do you know what caused the valve stem issue on yours? Was it ever overheated? The one I bought has 110K miles on it and never had that issue nor burned any oil. I even let it idle for about 5 minutes and then punched it to see if it smoked, and it did not. The other question is, do you ever hear a very minor "tink" noise from the rear at low speeds? Mine has Dynamic Drive and M Sport with 6 speed. Oh yeah, did you ever have to seal the engine oil leaks and coolant leaks? Mine needed that done, but prior owner paid over $6000 to have it all done around 85K miles.

    • @letsrollout7307
      @letsrollout7307  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      youtoobe169. The exhaust valve seals is a common issue with the 4.8 V8 mine didn't happen untill about 200.000 km. Do the conversion to miles. This only coolant leak I've ever had is from a pin hole in one if my hoses and no I've never experience any unusual noise coming from the back. Your car is an automatic I'm gathering if you have different drive modes.

    • @youtoobe169
      @youtoobe169 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, mine is a 6 speed manual like yours, but has the active suspension that runs off the power steering fluid. Interesting you've never had to deal with all the gasket leaks though, as I have heard that they all leak. The guy who I bought mine from said that he could not see the oil hitting the ground because the plastic cover caught all of it. He also had the expansion tank and some coolant tube replaced as well. I am somewhat fascinated that you have not had these issues with yours, and that mine has never had the valve stem seals issue. Mine had oil changes about every 21,000 km.

      @@letsrollout7307 I have 545i, basically the same engine, some minor differences, but the valvetrain is exactly the same. And there is a problem with that Valvetronic design - it slightly rocks the valves back and forth while pushing on them and that is causing the valve guides to wear out prematurely. At at that point valve stem seals are no longer soft and elastic and as consequence these seals are no longer tightly gripping around the valve stems leaving gaps where oil can seep out. The story you usually hear about N62 engines that valve stem seals get very hard because of higher engine temperatures and start to leak is not true, they become hard on other engines as well but somehow do not leak in such a massive way as on N62 engines. Replacing the valve stem seals is helping to get rid of burning oil because the seals are soft and elastic and can follow the valve stem as it rocks back and forth but that is not fixing the actual problem. I have done seal replacement myself and this is how I know, I paid attention to how loose the valves felt and then did some research. It is a grear car I like it alot but if you want to enjoy it for many years to come in a quality way you will need to rebuild it. Thats what I am doing.

    I also have a white 2007, which I bought in 2010. This is the car that I've owned the longest, by far. The suspension is basically magical: Smooth on bumpy roads, stable at high speed, flat on turns. The car literally tilts to offset body roll (active roll stabilization in the M sport package th-cam.com/video/tktOJMzIJog/w-d-xo.html). I've driven a few sports cars, including a Corvette and an Infiniti coupe with sport suspension. Both felt bumpy going straight and leaned too much on tight turns or on turns at speed compared to the 550i.
    One thing that you did not mention in your video is how amazingly well put together the E60 550i is, or the high quality of materials. In the rare occasion when my wife gets to drive it, she cannot believe that the interior in my 2007 is in better shape than in her 2015 car.
    In the US, we didn't get the 19" wheels or the M looking lower front that yours has. Not until 2008. So mine is not as pretty as yours is, but it is about 200 lb lighter. As they say: "you win some you lose some". :-) The steering angle sensor failed me once, but I was able to fix it myself for $12 in a couple of hours. No leaks so far, ever.

      @persnngtr3255 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great video. But come on 20 000 km is way too much. How's the car running? How much oil does it consume? Because I usually change oil every 7-10k which is what everyone should do I believe. When you change the oil at 20k just look at how dark it is and you'll understand what I mean. Also my advice to you never trust dealerships. Beautiful car tho 🙌🙌

    • @justinv6132
      @justinv6132 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ss ss if the n62 engine is anything like the n63. It probably burns a quart of oil on average every once a month. So you can go longer intervals between changes due to the introduction of new oil so often.
