We are all so brainwashed that studio photography “needs” to be narrow aperture, low ISO and a big, powerful strobe or 3. This was so refreshing! Crank up the ISO, open up the aperture, and get great results with a single, bounced speedlight!!! I could have benefited from this at my most recent session!!! Thank you.
Thanks for sharing!! I believe in the past making adjustments to lights, or film sensitivity and even camera settings may have had a bit more of a cumbersome process hence the rules that have been laid out for decades. But nowadays we have so much flexibility, it is entirely up to us to explore and create with everything we have at our disposal so I am glad this video felt refreshing to you! And thank you for watching!!
Excellent. Photography started from one source of Light (sunlight) back in the 1820's. Francesco Scavullo was well-known for his one source of lighting.
@@Phloshopyou are welcome. Francesco has over 50 years of Photography out there in the archives. Completely understandable, I am self-taught as well, continue your path & success to your steps.
I actually tried something like this yesterday but after watching you do this setup, my confidence has increased. And I'm loving you more and more sir, so really impressed and motivated. Thank you sir.
This is the best I have seen. Thank you so much. I am just a hobbyist, but I think I'm pretty decent. I mostly take sports (action). I do not need a bunch of expensive portrait equipment that I will never use more than a few times. I just plan to take senior photos of my own children. I refuse to pay someone hundreds of dollars for something I know I can do with maybe a few new items. I already have a nice camera and an exceptional lens. I think I can spend maybe $100-150 and get something decent. Speedlights can be had for a lower price than what some others recommend and I have seen some folding backgrounds and reflectors. I'm sure I won't get photos anything like yours, but I'm happy if my kids are happy.
I’m glad this video has inspired you to create with what you have. As a hobbyist you should just focus on having fun amd creating for yourself. I’m happy you’re not thinking you need expensive equipment to create decent photos. Pros rely on equipment because they need to be sure it will work every time they pick it up. It’s the reliability and responsiveness they pay for, plus they’re collecting money for the service.
its been 2 years since I start in photography, I manage to invest on a Nikon Z50 tt600 flash 1 umbrella and 1 backdrop, as of now this is my setup, but your photo is still amazing compare to mine!
Amazing info, bro! Love the simplicity. We often get caught up in gear and forget that we can achieve maximum output with minimal equipment. I'm going to share this video with a ton of my photog buddies. Keep it up!!
Thank you very much for the video. I've been taking pictures for a long time, but I was still interested in watching your video. I really liked the model and her clothes. The green dress and the green background are very interesting. I wanted to try the same combination.
Cheers from NYC!!! Instant fan of your channel. I'm a fellow photographer, and your channel was suggested. I'm mostly a travel / architecture / street photographer, and I'm looking to add studio work to my portfolio. The algorithm knew what is was doing when suggesting your page. hahah!!!! I look forward to checking out more of your videos
Hahaha I’m glad the algorithm did it’s thing. But also Thanks for choosing to join our growing family. How long have you been doing your photography? Cheers from Ghana!
Just my own tip - you should explain why your Speedlight/flash is pointed away for the newbies and how bouncing the light from certain distance creates softer/harsher light and smaller or bigger source. Great video though and epic portraits!
Thank you very much sir for saying “Don’t give up “ I was on point of giving up this photography because things have not been easy you know but after watching this I feel confident again.God bless you sir🙏🏻❤️🔥
Glad I’ve been able to be of help. Figure out what’s not working and find ways to improve on where you’re lacking. It’s not always easy.. we all go through it. Just keep pushing! Once the passion is there I’d say keep trying
Where can i get the cable you are using from Camera to the Computer? and the type of the cable that can be used on the Nikon D3100 kindly advise... thank you!
love this 💚 regarding the speedlight, if you had added an umbrella, would that have achieved what you were trying to achieve by bouncing it off the ceiling ?
It depends on the size of the umbrella. If it’s a really large umbrella with a white interior then it would be a similar effect. Umbrellas spread light everywhere but they still have a bit of focus and directionality to them.
so happy i found your channel. you aree super creative and humble but insanlyyyyy talented. Looking forward for more.
Thank you so so much for your kind words. It means a lot!
