I understand what you mean and the strong shadows definitely add a lot of drama to the images. I just felt for this, I wanted a softer light to it but with stronger highlights. It all depends on the emotion you want to convey as an artist.
Very good, an excelente lesson, I think you could show the camera configs when you were showing the pictures. It could be nicer. But for this, it's very good.
This was great. I wouldn't have used the 7" reflector from the typical 45° angle. I would have put it a little closer to camera axis. I liked the images from the 36" and 60" a lot. Good video on how to build your shot.
This is a nice demo. Not one of those lightmeter nerts, but somebody that actually really looks at the results and goes building from there. I like the large softbox the best on the model but in my opinion it is to far feathered from the background. I only do that if i have a background light and if i have one light than i don't feather it so much. But still great photo's.
Thanks a lot! I have never owned a light meter because I feel it takes away from the whole experience of figuring out how you want your image to look and feel and makes it a technically correct image. One thing I love about this craft as well is.. at the end it is art, you’ll not be wrong for wanting to add the background light or feathering it less and I’m sure those photos will be great as well.. Thanks for engaging with me I truly appreciate it
If i want to commit to a hardlight, what i sometimes do is a layered light. this way i get to have a great balance between the hardlight and softlight giving me the best of both worlds. So in a situation like that, it will also help illuminate the backdrop, making it appear a little lighter as well
Thanks a lot. Here’s a link to the continuous light amzn.to/4eA9JGX If you want to get it from Ghana here’s a link as well.. impactfotostore.com/product/smallrig-rc-60b-bi-color-led-monolight-power-bank-clamp-edition/
My only critique is losing the ambiance of the esthetic that the background contributes. Teaching on how to position the light so it captures the model as well as illuminating the background would be very beneficial to using minimal lighting instruments to their full potential. Just a thought, and would make for another great tutorial.

You really don't get enough credit. You help people like me see light better by showing choices in modifiers and distance from the subject. Thank you!
Thanks, I'm glad you're getting something out of it! and thats all that matters.
Large soft box for the win!
Couldn’t agree more. I just love creating soft light.
That large soft box creates such a beautiful final image🔥
It sure does. And because it’s becoming my style I don’t have to worry about purchasing other modifiers.
The last images with the large soft box came out so good.
They had to.. I was counting on it 😂😂
I love the soft light from the 60inch soft box. It's really sweet
I agree. I also really like how there’s still enough contrast to make her pop..
The soft light was perfect.
Soft light flatters a lot of people. It’s actually a cheat code lol.. but if you’re not too careful, it can look flat and boring.
I want to say thank you for all your videos.
Everything i know about studio lighting i learnt from your videos.
Thank you so much.
Thanks bro for the huge support to fellow photographers ❤
Anytime!!
Your model is great and beautiful!! Your instructions are clear and makes it sound doable. I'm going to try this set up. Thank you Sir. 😀😇📸
You are so welcome! and Have fun!
I like the soft lighting.
Great video the bare light does wonders on her skin
its a contrasty light and definitely makes her darkskin sparkle
I actually do like the harsh light it really makes the subject stand out she looks fierce and in control
I understand what you mean and the strong shadows definitely add a lot of drama to the images.

Editing process pls sir... make us a video pls. Thank you ❤😊
Really good explanation of lighting and love that you are actually showing us! Love this!
Thanks so much! I will try to be more thorough going forward

nice video thank you
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching too
Amazing
Thank you so much!!
Like the photos using the 60inch modifier. But I do think the hard light would have been better if the backdrop was a few shades lighter.

The large modifier makes the picture look like fine art portraiture
That’s the vibe I was going for!!
Le Phlooooo
Le Niiiiiiiiii 😂😂😂

Thank you!! All my videos are gems 😁
But check them out and let me know.
I do have playlists as well..
So Joseph i want you to tackle the issue of picture style so we can get good colour outcome when we shoot
I made this video on picture profiles..

Let me know if it works!!

Beautiful model. Why is shiny on the photos not on the videos ?
I added flash to the photos. So the lighting/exposure for the photos are totally different from the video’s lighting/exposure
what's your white balance ? your colors always on point
I also have a r5 put my pictures don’t come out like that, can someone help me ?
I mostly shoot at 5,200K but I’m always shifting colours in post because I shoot raw.
@@Phloshop we gonna need a video of you editing of your subscribers pictures and review at the same time
@@Phloshop i know that the r5 is mostly on the magenta side, so idk if this is a factor
Large soft box
Thank you so much for this tutorial phlo 🤝
How do you connect your camera to the tablet?
I use a cable. A regular USB C cable.
But I think I’ll make a shorts on it.
Lovely Video. Thank you.
Thank you!!
@@Phloshop Can you please make I video on how you edited these photos? Especially how you graded and made the skin pop.
@@nanakwesienu1400 I’ll definitely do an editing walkthrough!! Thanks for asking
Great video! Where did you get the back drop?

Stay tuned!!

I made an entire video on picture profiles some time ago.. but I can make another video on it since I’m getting that a lot
Hello. What app is used for syncing the images to an iPad?
I use capture one mobile
Large softbox
It does a lot to create beautiful soft light
What monitor is that you’re using to tether and software?
The display is my iPad Pro and I’m tethering into Capture One for iPad.

Can you say "talent" instead of "subject"? Please and thank you 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿💪🏿
I say subject because they’re the main “topic” in the photograph. Everything is because of them!
What’s wrong with “subject” - I’m curious
