Just getting started again at 46. The last time I roller skated was at a roller rink for a skating party for elementary school. I loved it so hard then, and I want to love it like that again. I’m a lot further from the ground now, and a lot less resilient. Hoping slow and steady will get me there. 🐢
Wow, i am 47…used to skate everyday outside and like four time a week at the rink where i grew up…but honestly have not been in anything apart from flip flops and trainers in decades. Even gave up heels a long time ago. I feel you… As a kid i tested the general understandings of gravity on the daily…total fearless brat but now, i can attest to the harshness gravity can dish out. Best of luck on your journey, i just started my 365 and am having a blast everyday.
Same Amy! I'm nearing 43 and I've just picked up skating in may this year and I'm OBESSESED!!!! I love it soooo much! I'm hopefully going to get my own pair of skates in the next few weeks instead of hiring them. Lots more opportunities to practice and advance. I'm sooo excited!!!! 😊😊🥳🥳🥳
Y’all these comments made my whole day ! I’m 49 and just ordered me and my 30 year old daughter a pair of moxi roller skates for Christmas! We don’t have a lot of money or time so what we do have I want to make it special ! I couldn’t think of a better way to share our life together! We both love to kayak but can’t do that all year . I was so worried I was to old to skate again . I was worried I waisted my money ! I was worried I possibly ruined Christmas! And now I CANT WAIT FOR CHRISTMAS! I can’t wait to give her her skates ! I can’t wait to hit the downtown streets and see if this old mom can still roll around ! I’m going to start the 365 challenge with her and I can’t wait to report about how much fun we had and thank you all again for reminding me yiur only as old as you think you are ! Thanks ladies !
I am a mature >40 skater returning to my wheels after 3 decades of flat feet and flip flops. I am on day 10 of my 365 day journey, i know it is probably bonkers but my goal is to skate or drill every day for one year. Thanks for sharing you journey.
Thanks to Evelyn I started my skating journey around August of last year !!! I just received my beach bunnies and I am in love with them and I can't wait for what this journey holds for me !!
I hope the beach bunnies are everything you hoped they would be! I really wanted a pair but they have been so out for months so I bought the cheaper rainbow riders.
Evelyn is one of the first TH-camrs/ skater channels I watched and I was amazed by how fast she was learning on her 365 challenge you really are such a sweet soul and so nice to watch thanks for all the content on your and moxis channel I love watching you skate!
I’ve only been skating a couple weeks now, I just like street skating at the moment but going down hills is something I want to get better at and have more fun with. It gets scary because I think I’m speeding when really the hills are not that bad in my area 😅
One thing I learned after 1 year on roller skates is that I still can't skate. AT ALL. I'm so out of shape I guess it's going to take longer to get there. I'm still a day one baby giraffe every time I put my skates on. It's so frustrating.
@@EvelynIvyy They usually last around 10-15 minutes unless I happen to fall. If I do fall I feel anxious and just stop and go home. I need to push myself this year to not quit after I fall, just take a break for a few minutes and get my bearings and then try again. I do wear protective gear, although I do need better wrist guards as the ones I have are too big. My fear is my biggest enemy right now. I'll push through it eventually.
@@weasleygurl26 Oof believe me I feel the same way. My obstacle is fear (social anxiety). When I get my first pair of skates I'll definitely be skating inside my house/garage for comfort and practice. Once I feel ready enough, going outside and skating in public will be an obstacle. But I believe in you! You have a long life ahead of learning and building that confidence! Don't give up! Anyone can skate (big, curvy, skinny, petite, young, old) and everyone learns at their own pace.
It’s not because you’re out of shape. It’s the fear that’s making you out of balance. You are shaky and ur body needs to be at ease to flow on wheels. Bend your knees And kind of sit back. You will be more at balance and the lower you are, the less hard you’ll fall. Bending low and having protective gear (please do get better wrist guards !) will be a breeeeze when u fall. Shoot I even bought padded underwear so when I fall on my butt 😆 The way that I gain confidence was skating through pathways at the Park that had grass on both sides. It removes the mental blockage of fearing the fall on concrete. Skating on pathways is great because you can just jump on the grass when you feel uneasy. And sometimes, depending on your reflexes, you can fall onto the grass and it’s great! Good luck!
I am trying to be so patient and have signed up for restock notifications on almost all of the skates on the website size 7. This roller skate shortage is killing me!!!
I started inline skating when I was 19, but I really wasn't very focused at that age and I moved to another town, and now I'm going to start skating again at 23! But I'm studying a lot before. And I'm going to buy roller skates soon :D
skated as a kid over thirty years ago. I am 42 and bought a pair of rainbow riders. I remember how exhilarating skating felt so can't wait for that again. it's great exercise and low impact. Where can i get those light up wheels Evelyn Ivyy?
I've been skating for 6 months now! My friend invited me to the roller rink, and at first I hated it since I was on blades but they gave me a pair of skates and it was one of the best feelings! ⊂(・▽・)⊃
I love this so much. I love the #SkateStory videos on how they got into roller skating, the #WhatsInMySkateBag videos and the #MySkateSetUp videos. They're so fun to watch. I love knowing what gear people have and why. And the things they've learned along the way. 🛼🙌🏽💞🦋 I also love how helpful the tutorials are! I love this channel so much, keep up the amazing work and content!!!
Thank you for your support! Purchasing from moxiskates.com and our TeeSpring store helps fund this channel so please consider us when making your next purchase :)
I love this video. Funny thing I decided to Start practicing jumping. I started with jumping over cracks in the sidewalk . I use to skate in my 20s and grew up going to the skate rinks in the 80s. Well at 46 I started skating again. " It is not like riding a bike. "😆I decided to practice without my pads. Bad choice. I ate it bad road rash bruises the whole 9 no broken bones. I would suggest anyone to wear pads when learning or relearning trick skating . I had to learn the hard way. Lol
@@chromecuty my knee is doing a lot better I’m starting to get back to my normal activities such as dance but I haven’t found the confidence to put my skates back on
Start small, small goal still count! Challenge yourself to at least lace up your skates, if that’s all your body will do that day it’s okay (: try again tomorrow! Reflect on what kind of skater you strive to be one day!
Evelyn!!!! I’m still off IG. This video felt like a hug from you 🥰 Miss you heaps!! I stopped skating in Aug, around the time I went off IG. It’s been very rainy for us up north. I just started back up again bc the sun is coming back out. So wonderful to hear your words of encouragement. You were, I think, the first skater that helped me along! You’re just a pure ray of sunshine. Thank you for sharing! Take care 💓 (PS Every time I see a mushroom I think of you 😂🍄🌻)
You have been very much missed!! I am so happy to see you checked in 😭 I cannot wait to see you back on your skates!😍 I also can’t wait for moxi skate camp to happen after this pandemic is under control so we finally get a chance to skate and learn together!🤗💖
that one about filming yourself and realizing you aren’t going as fast as you think is so real 😭😭😭 but it is very nice to see the progress! :)
RIGHT!! I feel so silly watching it but I go in so much more motivated 😍
The way Evelyn says "friends" is so cute, what a pure soul
her voice is so soothing

About a month into park skating now and I just dropped into a half pipe today 😎

Do you stretch before you skate? Stretching for about 5min def helped me
Don’t be hard on yourself! How long do your sessions usually last? Are you wearing protective gear to help you feel a little more confident?(:

So let’s talk about this shirt
Love moxis but I’m having a hard time ordering, do you know where I can find a jack boot skate?
try derby warehouse, they are the only place i've found that not everything is sold out!
