BRAH! Leeward's is my STOMPING GROUNDS! Their fried noodles is BOMB. BBQ burgers used to be really good but lately hasn't been the same. Small kid time, I lived right down da street from Leeward's, so we would always go down there for school lunch for field trips and stuff. Good choice! Gotta get a Green River to go with da grindz!
The burger you should eat is their BBQ Burger w/ Mayo.... it's a teri hamburger but my favorite. Also try the "Special" fried noodles.... same as the regular but with bean sprouts added. Their beef stew, beef curry, sweet sour spareribs are all great and try their teri beef plate with fried noodles.... just like the old "Heights Drive Inn" fried noodle special.... just as good, maybe even better. I really enjoy your videos... great job Amanda and Felix!
Grew up in Waipahu. Love the fried noodles. I think the noodles use to some with teriyaki meat with it. Bento are good too. School lunch, lunch box, obento, and Ultimate Bento. I like coconut turnover.
As a longtime local, living on the Mainland for the past 35 years, I find your videos tremendously attractive...delicious. And helpful. You make food LOOK delicious, sorta natural, with your expressions and verbals. Before I visit, I’ll be armed with names and places of local places.; they should be full of mahalo for your sincere commentary of foods. Best wishes for continued success. Aloha! Patrick
I love watching your videos. Mahalo for all the new ideas of places to try on my next visit to Oahu. The lau lau looked delicious. I like Helena's lau lau and kalua pork.
Yup!!! Leeward no bettah! then Rainbow’s, Gravy and fried chicken a staple started many moons ago in the Philippines not sure when Max’s or Jolly bee started it but same theory! Great Vlog! 🤙🏼
Gimme that old school cheeseburger and Felix's plate lunch. The chicken, fried noodles, and mac salad look broke da mouth. Hawaiian style mac salad almost deserves its own video.Y'all are such wonderful ambassadors of Hawaii and local food joints. And special thanks to Yvonne! Y'all, never stop being awesome and cool. Like you are! Mahalo.
New subscriber here, been watching all your videos and LOVE your channel! The food you showcase looks so good and your reviews feel the most genuine. Can't wait to get back to the Islands to try out all of your recommendations!! 😀
Hi Amanda & Felix, more Cheap Eats please. It is amazingly nice what you both do for these local businesses. I’ve lost my business of 30 years last Oct., still sadden, but I’m glad the local businesses in Hawaii made it through. Love all your videos, binge watched all of it and subscribed. Thank you both for all your hard work. Looking forward to the next one. Much Loveshugs&kisses from LA.😘😘
We're very sad to hear about your business 😔 this pandemic really impacted the world and also our homes. Plenty of local favorite businesses that relied on tourism had also closed here. It's what motivated us to start our channel and we hope to be able to travel soon and bring awareness to local/ small businesses everywhere! Mahalo nui for watching and supporting us! 💕🤙
Leeward’s fries are the best. My wife always criticized them when we were dating, but after many Leeward fries STOLEN from my stash she has seen the light. She now loves them and orders her own bag. That yellow sauce in the burger is a mixture of mayo, mustard and relish. Growing up in the 60s, a lot of drive inns served burgers with that sauce. It used to be sold bottled in supermarkets too. The noodles can be ordered without garnishes. Awesome video! Looking forward to viewing more videos
One of the best things about your videos you’re so spontaneous and real!! I always enjoy them!! Keep it up!! Sometimes we don’t know where to eat and you’ve given us some great ideas!!
I forgot about Leeward Drive Inn. I grew up in central Oahu and went there a lot as a kid. I live on the mainland now and the family and I going visit in a few weeks. Definitely going hit Leewards. Mahalo for making this channel and good to see "Da Von"
16:1919:0731:43 this is why I watch you guys lol. Great spot to review too. And yeah, they’ve been testing out the rail at random times for a while now
I used to hang out there to read a book in peace. But then about seven years ago it started getting sketchy, so I don’t do that anymore. I don’t know how things are there now, though.
My favorite foodies! Always look forward to your videos. Been eating leeward long time. They give plenny, no broke da pocket! A good fill up kine place. Take care, support locals! Much love and aloha 😎🤙🏾
Funny I watched your video this afternoon noon and i had to go to leeward to get food for dinner. I haven't been there in over 10 years. I ended up ordering exactly what Felix ordered lol.
Originally from Waipahu ended up in Oklahoma after retiring from the US ARMY. Enjoyed your video about Leeward Drive Inn. Have you guys reviewed any Filipino restaurants? Keep it up
We are going to Oahu for the first time in February and staying for nine nights at Moana Surfrider. Do you have a recommendation for all you can eat crab legs that won't break the bank? Thanks much! I'll have to give you guys a shout out on my channel when I go! Thanks for the content! I've got to try the Surf & Salsa truck after watching you guys too. #Mahalo 🤙

Awesome! Awesome! I grew up in Waipahu, saw this place a zillion times but passed it up for Zippys! I’m living in Norcal now but we still have our house in Waipahu. Going back for a month long vacay and will definitely swing by Leeward Drive in for sure! Mahalo!!
Thank you guys for sharing this vlog. Brings back memories. I used to walk by there every day when going to Waipahu Intermediate. Really good local food. Especially the fried saimin. Felix makes all the food look so good. Makes me hungry when I see you guys eat.
Another video about my kind of food. There was a time when I lived on Oahu and I primarily ate at DriveIns. I always feel nostalgic when I eat these kind of local foods. I would have eaten all of these foods and enjoyed them. Mahalo and Aloha.
No monkey pod dives today!👍🏿 That crunch on the fried chicken came through the mike loud n clear! Whoa! Those noodles! Sooooo Hawaii! Too bad the turnovers u wanted to try was sold out! Guava sounds intriguing! Haupia !! I miss haupia! Lol! That ice dessert looked super ono, tho! GottA try it next time! So funny with that clip of Yvonne KOd!!! Aloha Amanda & Felix (and Yvonne too!). Let's hear it for team soggy fries (sorry Felix). Food looked delicious, are you able to get the fried saimin without the meat/pork in it or is it pre-made? I've gotta check out Frost City. Mahalo for another great vlog!
Aloha Paula! #TeamSoggyFries! Mahalo for watching and supporting us! The saimin i think is made in bulk..? Sorry most of these old school drive inns don't usually have those kind of options😰 They do have fish and chicken dishes available though! Hope you can check out Frost City! Their desserts are so refreshing!🤤🤤
Yup, good grinds there. Grew up in Waipahu from the mid 60's right up the street. $1.50-$1.75 fried noodles I believe, bbq pork sandwich, french fries, peach turnover. Keep up the awesome videos, I really enjoy them!

Mahalo for giving them a try! She was really nice! Also, we will be checking out Honolulu kitchen one of these days! Felix used to get them when he worked near by! 🤙💕
Glad you finally made it out to Leeward Drive Inn! Don't know if you recall but from one of your early early videos when Amanda said she liked soggy fries, I mentioned going to Leeward....the BEST soggy fries. I sometimes go there just for the fries and maybe a turn over. IMO, they're better than any other fries including McDonalds. Sometimes if you're lucky, they're slightly undercooked so they have an al dente bite. Also good there are the fried rice and sweet-sour spare ribs.
Love Leeward Drive Inn! Their noodles are the BOMB!! I never tried their fried chicken yet, but if you love fried chicken from a local family place please do a review of KJ's Local Grindz in Kaneohe. Ono!!
That's the benchmark for a good burger joint/drive-in: The double cheeseburger. That double cheeseburger gotta be on point! If that burger ain't right, it makes me question the whole rest of the menu. But, that's just me. Not everybody thinks like I do. Right?
Missing home BBQ ! I gotta improvise and cook my own ! We gotta go to Marukai in San Diego & get the ingredients !Mahalo you guys the turnovers look awesome ! Safe travel home !
You are right. Those simple Leeward burgers are like the original McDonald's that as a kid were two bit burgers...a quarter for one!!! Many, many moons ago. Leeward and Rainbow rock. I agree with Vonn that Leeward has got a little somthin somthin goin on.
Haha, yup. You can tell a drive-in is good if their burger is bomb! There’s a burger called the “Mana Burger” which is a grilled cheese, teriyaki, fried egg burger at Verna’s Drive-In in Hilo. Must-eat!! So good!
Hi Buddies! That's fricking HUGE plates🤣🤣! That Fried Saimin looks Winnas hows that grinded down fishcake👍. Read they got one of the best mac salads. Haven't been to Leeward Drive Inn in ages it's outta my district. Suggest trying Meg's Drive Inn in Kalihi on Waiakamilo Road. Penny's Restaurant on Sand Island Road has the best Roast Pork, and ono beef stew, they only open weekdays & close kind of early because they open early.
Thanks for the introduction to the food at Leeward’s, esp. the saimin and chicken. I want to try the ube “pop tart” and the wonderful looking dessert from Frostcity!,
Wow!!! Felix, All three plates look Ono. But, Amanda's plate, so simple but "YUM!!!". I love the fried Saimin and the chicken, anything Saimin I love. Great video guys, HI! DaVonne...... Mahalo nui🤙🏾
You gotta eat the fries with the yellow sauce. I love eating their box lunch with added luncheon meat, and Teri beef sandwich. The turnovers are the bomb!
That dessert looked ono. You guys should try "Thrills" soft serve on the corner of Kona & Piikoi, flavors always changing, really good.. Keep up the cool vids!
Oh no! no fly fan!!!🙀 Here, let me help with fly duty👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼😁 My gawd that roast beef with gravy. SOLD! I'm so there. Lived on that side all my life and never did try it. That's why I appreciate what you're doing.
Mahalo for helping us with those pesky flies!!😆 We hope you can try them out! That Gravy was soooo ono🤤 Hope you enjoy it! if you like soggy fries make sure you pick up an order for me!🤙🏼
@@AmandaFelixEats funny you replied that. I make a seasoning salt called Garans Ballbarans 😂. If you'd like to sample some, let me know and I can get a sample to you. Maybe you can do a cooking video. Try a new venue👍
lol... the townies haven't heard of the rail trains rolling... I live in Waipahu...they've been rolling for some time now (at least since about Dec 2019 when I moved to Waipahu) every day and have heard it as late as past midnight some times. As for Leeward Drive Inn (though it's just about 1 1/2 miles away), I had tried going there, but all the times I've driven by there - it's always busy and could not find parking...so yeah, I've given up going there. But seeing this video, it's tempting me once again to try Leeward...
before you guys even mentioned where Frost City was, I thought that it looked like the University area. now when I'm home, I'm going to have to drag my Mom and my sister there to get dessert. ;)
I've been married over 40 years. It doesn't change Felix This is only the beginning for you, but you already got it down. Whatever she wants too keep her happy. Even if she turns down your suggestions, don't get frustrated. Trust me, it's not worth it. BTW, I'm team good soggy fries or team good crisp fries. Soggy fries are only good if it's well made and Leeward's looks well made.
I live in Aiea. The rail has been running passenger-less since late last year. Was supposed to be in service from Kapolei to Aloha Stadium since October. Everyone just eye-rolls whenever it passes.
Auryte! All you videos looks so Ono backyard bbq automatic. Funny I just ate lunch there this afternoon. Cuz that chicken first bite guud. Especially when cook the laulau in da limu good job👍👍👍
We live right across the street from Leeward Drive- Inn. I recommend getting the Ultimate Mixed Plate next time. It has a little bit of everything. It feeds me and my 2 kids..lol..
@@AmandaFelixEats I usually like my fries crispy but for some reason I like Leeward's soggy fries. Lol! If you guys are out late one night, you should go to Miki's in Pearl City!
I love Frost City! Been there a couple of times. I always go for the local flavors: haupia, lilikoi, lychee :-) Have you tried "Uncle Clay's House of Pure Aloha" in Aina Hina Shopping Center for their iced desserts?
Leeward has great burgers and fries. Love their plates too. I would buy extra to take home.
Thank you so much. I haven't been to HI for years. But I miss the Liki Liki Drive-In, Dillingham Saimin, etc. All gone now.
Be safe, be happy, bra.

Mahalo for helping us with those pesky flies!!😆 We hope you can try them out! That Gravy was soooo ono🤤 Hope you enjoy it! if you like soggy fries make sure you pick up an order for me!🤙🏼
Can you do one on best oxtail soup?
🤔

Guaruns!
They're worth trying if you're craving local plates! 🤙
That chicken and fried noodles looked 🤤
It was ONO🤤🤤🤤
before you guys even mentioned where Frost City was, I thought that it looked like the University area. now when I'm home, I'm going to have to drag my Mom and my sister there to get dessert. ;)
So refreshing! 🤤🤙
Dammmm food looks very delicious guys, another satisfying video, keep on keeping on🤙🏽🤙🏽
Mahalo nui for always supporting us! 🤙💕
Thanks Amanda & Felix! Is Ahi Assassins still in business? Be there on the 21st hope to run into y'all!!
We heard they re-opened somewhere else? Not too sure!
Garden Island Cafe in Waipahu has the best fried chicken IMHO. It's nearby Leeward Drive Inn.
Mahalo for letting us in our your best chicken! We'll add that to our list!🤙🏼
We see Yvonne hiding in the back 👋❤️
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Its fun when Yvonne comes along 😍
I've been married over 40 years. It doesn't change Felix This is only the beginning for you, but you already got it down. Whatever she wants too keep her happy. Even if she turns down your suggestions, don't get frustrated. Trust me, it's not worth it.
BTW, I'm team good soggy fries or team good crisp fries. Soggy fries are only good if it's well made and Leeward's looks well made.
Mahalo Marvin🤙🏼 We definitely hope to reach 40 years!🥰
Leewards fries were ono! 🤤🤤🤤
I live in Aiea. The rail has been running passenger-less since late last year. Was supposed to be in service from Kapolei to Aloha Stadium since October. Everyone just eye-rolls whenever it passes.
I bet! After they started construction the views just aren't the same😰
Auryte! All you videos looks so Ono backyard bbq automatic. Funny I just ate lunch there this afternoon. Cuz that chicken first bite guud. Especially when cook the laulau in da limu good job👍👍👍
Ono local grinds! 🤙
We live right across the street from Leeward Drive- Inn. I recommend getting the Ultimate Mixed Plate next time. It has a little bit of everything. It feeds me and my 2 kids..lol..
That plate was tempting! But we had major other cravings! 😅 will probably get that next time! 🤙
@@AmandaFelixEats I usually like my fries crispy but for some reason I like Leeward's soggy fries. Lol! If you guys are out late one night, you should go to Miki's in Pearl City!
@@cSADIEp Thanks for the suggestion! Well add that to our to do list!
Aloha, Von! Howzit, sistah!🤙
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
Did they put the Pearl Ridge monorail up on the new tracks for a test run, or is that the real deal?
Seems like a test run 🤔
Soggy fry gang…me too!! 👍🏻
Soggy goodness!
Need to make some merch for the “Soggy Fries Squad” or “Waipahu Peppercorn Poutine!”
😂 we'd wear those!
I love Frost City! Been there a couple of times. I always go for the local flavors: haupia, lilikoi, lychee :-)
Have you tried "Uncle Clay's House of Pure Aloha" in Aina Hina Shopping Center for their iced desserts?
We had them when they were still at alas! That location sadly closed 😔
@@AmandaFelixEats I believe he still has the original location at Aina Hina. Heard that there were burglaries at the Ala Moana location.
