I'm watching this video right now. I paused it. I plan to goto Oahu in March 2022.
Okay guys you're going to laugh....
    I just called Tamashiro market.
I left a message. I told him I was watching a video on youtube. Amanda and Felix eats. I said your food looks delicious and I plan to visit you in March. I might come with Amanda and Felix and buy them lunch.
I hope you get something free next time you go in there. Just know there's a lot of us that really enjoy your videos and can't wait for the new next one. Thank you.
    Aloha 🌴🌺

To respond to your shoyu question, it depends what you eating it with or making with it. I love the brewed Yamasa (red cap) on sushi. I think Kikoman makes really good teri sauce so that's what I use for kalbi. I use Aloha Shoyu for everything else.

Note for your situational awareness: In regards to regulated resources; harvesting Opihi (limpets) harvesting is prohibited in MLCD's-Marine Life Conservation Districts and NAR's-Natural Area Reserves. The Opihi with shell diameter must be 1-1/4 inches in diameter, if only the Meat, diameter must be 1/2" in order to harvest. Individuals harvesting undersize Opihi can be fined anywhere from $500 to $5000 dollars, or up to 30-days in jail......BTW! I loooove Salmon poke & Taegu! on hot rice, the bomb!

Awesome to te non-ahi Poke alternatives, and sharing about seafood possibilities...i.e. ono Top Shelf poke;) Shout out to recovering-Felix to explain why "Previously Frozen" label should be on ALL retail-fish items, and explaining why Fresh-Fish enhances Local Fishing businesses. All supermarket's poke is "Previously Frozen" and know Foodland's poke is frozen-fish from the Philippines. No comparison of Fresh Poke! And loved Amanda's distaste for overcooked-rice or "mushy-rice". Confessed that I was attracted to your foodie-videos due to CUTE, pretty Amanda; Food Princess....heh,heh. Great editing by a Hottie!

Aloha, great vid - cool idea!
Mainland fan here but my wife was born and raised Oahu. Every time we go home she gotta go to fave restaurants, especially Jimbo Udon on King St - I just found out they closed up for good because of pandemic finance stuff. We’re heartbroken but I thought maybe it could be a good vid or series of vids about where to eat now if you’re fave iconic eats had to close. At the very least it might help us find a new place for curry udon. Mahalo!

I just posted on FB this morning supermarkets in my area not selling kajiki, heading to Tamashiro this weekend to get slab of kajiki & limu if get, & i going make my own poke. Ahi prices crazy and i neva see nice slab yet.
The old skool Japanese Ahi Poke had ginger in it. Emjays Supermarket in Kalihi had pokes with ginger very ono loa. Emjays got taken over by Foodland. Foodland ahi poke now no more ginger. Kaneda's Japanese Delicatessen had ono ahi pokes with ginger plain & shoyu kind.

I’m not even local and you’re eating the opihi wrong. You gotta get an empty opihi shell and use that to scrape the meat out and it doubles as a spoon.
Love Tamashiro. We went there three times in 2019, and the third time was on our way back home to the airport. Best airline food we’ve ever had.

whoa! I have to pay a lot for tako poke up here at Aloha Fresh in San Jose, CA, $25 a lb. It's made by someone from Hawaii, not one of those fake poke bowl places that are all over California. Someone on a Hawaii Facebook page paid $36/lb in San Mateo, CA for tako poke. And you guys are paying $21/lb for premium octopus.
For me, any poke from Hawaii is my choice. As for shoyu, I'm team Aloha Shoyu. I used to use Kikkoman for cooking, but ran out of it one time and used Aloha to make shoyu chicken. What a difference, never buying Kikkoman ever again.
Honey Furikake? And furikake topping on ice cream? WTH? Have you tried either one?

There is tako and tako. Fresh caught cleaned with rock salt and then grilled,so ono. Then what you ate, prepared and very edible. In Greece I had tako “cooked” in citrus juice and olive oil, also delicious. Then I had almost raw tako…at a wedding reception in Lihue which I will not go into. Raw is not good.
