    Well done, Patti. You are such a good teacher; nice voice, easy to follow instructions, you verbalize do's &don'ts, & give ways of simplifying (such as with drawing your pattern out),

    So very pretty. TY for sharing this video. I'm wanting to make so many of these baskets. Can't decide, though, whether or not I DO want to leave the bucket inside them. That would make for a more heavy - duty basket, I guess. This way you put the fabric on for decorating it is very nice. TY again for sharing.

    Hi. Thanks for a wonderful video. Some of my baskets done seem as strong as yours. Any thoughts on why?

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  หลายเดือนก่อน

      A sewn basket on the sewing machine will always be stronger than glue. But wanted to show an option for those that don’t sew or have a machine.
      Reasons your basket may not be as strong.
      1. Type of hot glue you used and making sure the glue is hot when applying it.
      2. Type of rope used. Some brands of rope are much stiffer than others. I find the buffalo brand of laundry cord much stiffer than ACE for example.
      3. Make sure your rounds are tight around your bucket and each round is tight together.

I struggle using a glue gun -I always seem to have glue showing on both sides when I make those macrame rainbows. Could be just not enough practice yet, I dunno. Any tips for that? 😀

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Others have suggested putting Saran Wrap around the bucket but then I think it would stick to that too. You could try parchment. It would come off better than Saran Wrap. Don’t leave the glue gun in one place when pressing the trigger. Keep it moving right from the start and it won’t be so over thick in one place.

      Hmmm. Maybe try the hot glue sticks rather than all temperature. You definitely have to work quick so it doesn’t harden before attaching to both surfaces. For this project the rope is porous so the glue has something to hold on to.

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My canning jars are right there so easy for me. Safe enough inside the bucket. But yes anything to weigh it down works. Yes, you could wrap your bucket with something that glue won’t stick to. Thought of Saran Wrap but decided to keep it simple and just go around the actual bucket.

    • @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts
      @CraftyPattiArtsCrafts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well unfortunately I just made it so can’t give you an exact time frame for this exact project but they say that hot glue is as permanent as epoxy glue. I have used hot glue gun in other crafts and it has lasted for years. Hot glue will not stick to very smooth surfaces, like metal, silicone, vinyl etc. The rope is nice and porous so it has something to grab on to.

    This is pretty amazing. I sell soap, bath bombs, etc at market. I'd like to replace the cheap wire baskets with oval shaped baskets. The idea of using wood or something makes me wince and the cost of these baskets is astronomical on etsy. That being said, making them seems like a good alternative. They would be much lighter and more transportable than any other containers I can find. How would you go about reinforcing the glue? Sewing the rope? Does the glue need to be reinforced? I'd be emptying the baskets at the end of each market to put the bath bombs into a cardboard box instead.
    Thanks.

      Not sure if you have seen my other rope bowl videos. Here’s a link if you want to have a look.
      HOW TO MAKE ROPE BOWLS
      th-cam.com/play/PLp6o7Vy1aS_X3YAB8rzu2g01VwfZ67gEg.html
      The glued version of a rope basket won’t be as strong as sewing them on a machine. Your soap and bath bombs will be on the heavier side. Depends on how big you want your baskets. If they are not that deep than you should be good to go with the glued version. Because the rope is glued in between than it would be hard to re-enforce them as it is difficult to sew through the actual rope. Easier to sew in between but you won’t get through the glue. The other option is to not use a glue gun but a real strong epoxy type of glue which would be more expensive but it would definitely be strong.
