For the intro, no i wouldn't change it and here's why. You can change it and save 5 lives BUT your actions directly killed a person. If you don't change the track, you didn't kill anyone because you didn't perform an action, you allowed fate to runs it's course as if your were never there, instead of intervening. so the death of the 5 isn't on you because you took no direct action.
