A bit late to add onto this, but I find it hilarious how Coney encountered the exact same scenario that dunkey mentioned regarding bust a move & bust a groove
I was thinking that the issue with the castlevania box was that, ya know, anime and coney hates anime!

@@drhody4229 the boxart shown was from a budget title version of the game (like nintendo selects or playstation platinums)
The reason the RBI wins is because of the time era from where it’s from. I would say that killer Kong and Toki are crazier boxes, but back then all the boxes where crazy. It’s a special kind of bad when you are still as bad as that RBI box was during the ps4 generation where other boxes from the generation are at least decent.

When I first saw it, I also didn't expect it to win, but it was definitely my favorite

Wheel champ is my favorite show, it's so innovative, it interacts with fans, it has a different theme every time, gives me a react wars vibe but with a more modern and different tint.

Fun fact: Pac-Man 2’s box art is actually a 2-parter based on your region! If you live in PAL regions, Pac-Man’s about to take off with the hang glider, and in the NTSC regions he’s already taking off while screaming in the process.
video game boxart is a underrated thing when you buy a game, i love how they can represent what a game is and what to expect when you play it…
i doubt any of these falls under that criteria.
The flaw of comparing new contestants to a current wheelchamp is that recency-bias is gonna screw over anyone who's considered towards the start. l like the coloring-system better, that gives the top tier candidates a fairer shake to win :]
Should have all the ones that were current champs be put in a list or highlighted a color, to compare the previous with the current at the end?

I love how Russel Grant's Astrology has Frutiger Aero bubbles. They have the linear gradient fades on the shine marks and everything. Absolutely amazing

In the 70s and 80s anyone could make a game and burn it onto a floppy or cassette (yes you read that, cassette) and then get their friend with the minimal amount of art skill to draw a cover, thats where some of these come from.

Wheel champ is the best show on the internet for sure, farming us for content was the best decision Coney had. Even though there could only be one winner, all of the candidates were bangers in this video.
The Castlevania one is bad because instead of just having the art as the cover of the game, it has a picture of the game as the cover.
Context was badly needed for this one, it would had been an ok cover if it were the actual cover.

You know? I think this is comparatively the cutest NA boxart of its kind... Usually they give the characters more realistic proportions, but these guys are still chibi-ish, with cartoony faces as well. Goemon is the only one who could be called "manly-looking," everyone else is just hyper-rendered.
