It happens every year...early season I'm a 7 HCI and near end of season, bad habits creep in and jump to 10. I've had a few instructors over the years and reviewed many video sessions. Bottom line for improving your game is connecting with your coach and their teaching methods. It's always the small things that add up to higher scores. Paul Wilson's golf instruction simply connects for me. His instruction is simple and very effective. Thank you Paul!
Thanks so much. I just say it in ways people get it. If you get it you will do it. If you do it (for more than 3 balls) you will see amazing shots and hopefully you keep doing it.
Paul, I have watched a lot of your free videos and improved as a result. I finally decided to “pay my tuition” and buy the whole course. Everybody should do this if you find his advice works. It is not expensive and you will make it all back in bets in a couple of weeks ;-) Thanks for the great free content and excited about the full course.
Thanks for the support. The Body Swing spells out exactly what you need to do step by step that for sure. Just got to follow some simple lessons and do a little work. If so, you can take you game to a whole new level.
Paul makes so much sense in a way that creates images in my mind. Lift and shift is a great one as I have been plagued with hitting fat shots my entire golfing life. I would not call my golf a career as I seldom win anything!!
Glad you are starting to get the (right) images. I will keep giving everyone more and more as time goes on. Stay focused and try to get one thing at a time. Lots of practice swings at home.
Makes perfect sense! thank you, Paul! will give this a try. fixed my driver swing by really driving my hips and legs... was doing the same thing with my wedges and was pulling every wedge (50, 54, 58)..was very frustrating after hitting such great drives. i really think that if i try your tips and with less hips and legs, it'll really help.
Glad it helped the long stuff. For the shorter clubs you were driving the lower hard but you were still hitting hard. Try the belt buckle as I suggest. Keep the arms turned off in the downswing.
i wanna say since i started to move my hip as described, my golf life changed totally. I have be honest it took sometime to get use to it especially on the golf course (this is the name of the game) but now i hit the ball way better, way more accurate and longer (an average of 15 - 20 yards) . Thank you very much.
So glad you got this one. These shots are vital if you want to score. This very same move can carry on to your whole game which I think you are doing. This and loose wrists give you way more power with way less effort. Keep up the good work.
I've been working on taking my arms out of the swing for three weeks now and it is really beginning to work. I played from the back tees yesterday and outdrove both my friends on almost every hole. They were amazed and remarked that it looked like I wasn't hitting anything at all. Now I need to capitalize on those drives with better wedge play and this tip is just the ticket. Thanks Paul, I am enjoying this game more every day.
I bought the Body Swing and cannot recommend it enough. Same swing everytime no matter the club. Thanks for another great tip!! You are an amazing instructor.
I had the shanks and could not get out of the trap 50% of the time. I found Paul's videos on fixing the shank and just using your normal swing to get out the the trap work fine and fast. I have had lessons from pro's and viewed other videos without success. I am now looking at the "full body swing" and finding myself to be the perfect "before" picture. It seems like each video basically teaches the same thing and seems so simple. It is taking some time to get over my fears, but I will keep at it due to how I was able to fixed shanking and succeed more in the sand. I hope Paul is very successful as his thinking is simple and works.
So glad you found me and are working on it. Simple is the key for sure. You need to be doing daily practice swings. Too many people think they are going to get this doing it once a week. Just do practice swings daily to learn a few new moves plus the grip and set up. This will get you there in record time.
Glad to find out I'm not the only person with this problem. I've mentioned to several golfers and even one instructor and they act like the never heard of such a thing. Mine starts with the nine on down. Trying this tomorrow. Just glad to finally have an idea why it's happening.
So easy to fix these shots and yes, it's a serious problem. The thing is most golfers are misaligned so they think they are hitting it straight when really they are pulling it.
Thanks SO MUCH for the video ! It BACKED UP what you told me the other after my INQUIRY as to why I was pulling all my shorter clubs . I'll start thinking BELT BUCKLE on those clubs and I'm SURE things will VASTLY improve !
I followed your advice yesterday during my game and of course, it worked!! I went back to the earlier video you mentioned and, combined with the advice in this current video, gave the straight shots I was looking for. Cheers!
Thanks for this video Paul. I always think belt buckle or stomach to the target at swing finish. I have a bit of tendonitis in both wrists that stop me from cocking the wrists, but I stop the shoulder lunging turn and that helps me hit it straight.
Hey Paul excellent vid been following your site now for a while and fabulous content more on the short game would be great thats were us amateurs lose most strokes difficult lies, half shots etc would be great. Notice your putting on a few thosand subs every couple of days you deserve all the respect and rewards this brings. We amateurs need teachers who understand our frustration.
Thank you so much for the support. I appreciate it. I will think about the short game stuff in the future. I posted a great putting drill and so far 2k have watched it. Post bad tips and YT penalizes your whole channel now. So I am very aware of what I post now. I understand your frustration. Been there.
1. I didn’t know you were making videos just for me. 2. I didn’t know you were in the group behind me yesterday, when I pulled all three of my wedges when I had a darn good chance at making birdies. I always thought this was an alignment issue. Now I know why aiming 45 degrees away from my target on the green never helped. THANK YOU!!
It´s amazing how bad habits can develop over time. Many years ago, my 8, 9, and wedge approach shots were rock solid. Then I began to pull and I couldn´t figure out why. I have been watching Paul´s videos and have learned to smash my driver in a straight line consistently...with an effortless swing! I do press fairly hard with my right foot, but my downswing is controlled allowing me to release and turn efficiently. Playing tomorrow and cannot wait to try the belt buckle method. Thanks Paul, you´re videos on tempo are also key, slow it DOWN, and the ball goes further, straighter, and boosts confidence!
I've had a fit of this with all clubs just lately. I was setting up with a touch more shaft lean and hitting some really long straight shots with all clubs. The problem was I started leaning myself towards the target and setting myself up for a pull with the short clubs, and a pull hook with the longer clubs. It's 06:25 in England, and I'm due on the tee at 09:10, looking forward to some good wedge play, noting Paul's advice !
I have used body swing on range focusing on 5/7/9/4w/driver with excellent results....when playing i notice on par 5's...im now often < 100 yards in!....however now hitting w/gap/sand/lob..and trying to use body swing with major pulls!..couldnt figure it out?....wondered if you had video on this?.Boom!..there it was!...very good!....need to now have range session with those scoring clubs.....focusing on firing the belt buckle!....on all my clubs like my sand full swing max =85 yards....lob= 70 yards......when i am say 80...or 60 yards out....maintaing body swing theory....and belt buckle firing....is it better to say use clock method where your backswing goes to 9 oclock position to dial doen distance?....or ...maintain full swing and choke up on club to dial in distance?....or dial in distance by slowing down your tempo with full swing and still maintaining acceleration through ball to control distance....im trying to maintain the "body swing " method with these scoring clubs because it has worked so well with other clubs!......when you miss the greem from < 100 yards out...its a sickening feeling!....you just wasted the previous shots that got you there!...a round killer!
Glad you found this one. This will get you hitting the wedges dead straight. I have over 80 short game tips on my membership site so I am not going to be doing too many short game tips here. Pitching is simple. Set the backswing by hinging your wrists for the shot you are trying to hit (3 different backswings). Once set, turn your belt buckle as I show in this tip to hit the shot. HINGE/TURN Then vary the face or hip rotation to dial in distances. My pitching technique is unreal. Hopefully, this explains it.
thank you... precisely, I'm struggling with my wedges... losing distance as my age progresses ! I used to hit 100yds perfectly with my 52º not any more !!! 66 years old
66 is young. I would think you are hitting harder with the arms which is giving you a chicken wing. This adds loft so you hit the ball nowhere. Need to work on hinging and rehinging your wrists. th-cam.com/video/5_O0H2QNFo0/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Xk7t9yHCO-I/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/7olBqwXF3Ik/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/6ZeTqcz2pmE/w-d-xo.html That alone should get you back but you really need to be hitting the ball with your legs and hips. Try this trigger: th-cam.com/video/RdphthCQ9VM/w-d-xo.html
very true, I am a decent golfer with a low handicap but my flaw has always been to pull wedges.I dont pay attention to rotate hips and legs as I think the swing is so short that there is no need to do it but this causes me to use only the arms thus......pulling the shot
Great instruction Paul you have changed my game for the better ever since I started following you. I still though do not understand the bit where you say "share the tips with your friends" . I am busy collectng bets from them
So this is the perfect tip for you. I was skeptical of your video until u said the belt buckle part, thats the best way to explain it, if that doesn't make sense to someone golf isn't for them
I have started following only you. Your advise is the best I have been able to understand and implement. Can you somehow include ball tracking in your videos?
you make an interesting point at 2:30 mark....as soon as I "fixed" my push/slice with driver by making my lower body more active I started pulling wedges/irons like crazy.
This is so easy to fix. Just turn the arms off and start the lower body (belt buckle). If you shift right away you will send it over the top. I am turning not immediately shifting. So hit the top. Turn back to the ball first this way you get back to 50/50 then keep turning and the weight will shift by impact. No joke this is literally about 2 mins. for me too fix the person.
I could fix you in literally 2 mins. Tilt your body left you will swing left. Tilt right you will swing right. This is a fact. So if you feel you are tilted back yet you are pulling it you would be too tilted. Add a strong grip and you are actually duck hooking it not pull hooking it. So neutralize your grip first to reduce the spin. th-cam.com/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/w-d-xo.html Square up your alignment so you know exactly where you a hitting it: th-cam.com/video/VFZc0Wq282k/w-d-xo.html Don't believe I can fix you then post a video of you swing so I can see it. I never have an issue getting people to hit it straight. As I said this is literally 2 mins.
@@paulwilsongolf kind of you once again. I will give these things a go later. My strong hand IS my top hand so hopefully it won't even take 30 balls (;
25 of my 30 tries were fat. Bottom hand is cramped or injured. Other five okay contact sprayed everywhere. And now driver is effd. Couldn't get my bottom hand to wrap in the grip the way yours did in video. I'm probably not executing what you're asking despite my trying to. Write me off, I'll stop bothering you
Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. I just see it differently and I know my students. Most people don't practice. So it has to be simple enough and memorable enough for people to actually try it (for more than 3 balls). If they do and see results then maybe they will keep doing it.
I was pulling my wedges and I cannot turn much because a bad back and hip flexor, but I can somehow still play golf, I just take a club more and hit it out on the toe, I know you dont teach toe shots and I loose distance but I use toe shots on all irons down to 3 iron, and its helped me rid the nasty pull wedge hook.
Well, if you can't turn then you need to do what you can do. If hitting it on the toe the face fixes it then keep doing it (never heard of this before). You can also play the pull. I would probably pull it because you are at least hitting the ball in the center of the face. How much distance are you losing hitting the toe every time? The hook part of the pull hooks you are hitting is a strong grip so I would neutralize that: th-cam.com/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/w-d-xo.html
Great stuff Paul. Just for my thought process: belt buckle move for the wedges and for the longer clubs still belt buckle but more aggressive with the hips?
Well, you certainly can use the belt buckle or choose a different trigger to get you to fire them. th-cam.com/video/ZiIbTW14Was/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/7z5eUcSwlSk/w-d-xo.html
Very interesting Paul so it’s the lower speed of the rotation used for 8/9 irons or short wedges suggested.Swing is the same for all clubs, body speed change to cover the distance..right? Thank you!!
Well, I am always firing the hips pretty hard. It's doesn't look like it because I've done it for so long. Typically I am about 80%. For the short clubs I have you switch from the legs to belt buckle because you don't have a hard drive with shorter clubs. Just think about this tip and you will see the result but don't baby your leg/hip action.
Can I use this belt buckle hip trigger for my full swing with driver and longer clubs too? The driving with my right foot or touching knees doesn’t quite work well for me.
Can you do a video for those of us that push/block wedges? I feel my swing is the same loose swing, which works amazingly thanks to your methods. But leads to a right miss with wedges, or to a high ball flight unless I try to punch it. Thanks!
Are you trying to drive your lower body or hard that you leave the face open? Or are you sliding? If you were sliding though you would be pushing everything. So I think you are driving the lower too hard with shorter clubs (which would be rare). So here is what you do. You follow this tip and hit 10 pull/hooks in a row working only on releasing it early. This will speed up the timing of the release. Once you can do that you switch back to thinking of your body. If so, you will hit it dead straight. th-cam.com/video/GnQ2FfdQBDo/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/8ro_1NYPd8c/w-d-xo.html Let me know how you do.
any advice for the chipping yips. I chip crosshanded from 80 yards out. Unfortunately very short chips I have a real difficulty so resort to chipping with one hand.
This is so easy to fix. I have fixed many people in the past in minutes. If you have the yips you are trying to hit or propel the ball. Need to think beyond the ball. Chipping is like putting when you learn my technique. Do you yips putts? Probably not. So you need to use this stroke when chipping. Here is how to do it. - Narrow stance 3" apart. - Ball off back instep. - 3-4 knuckle grip (this is the secret) So ball is back - hands are forward. - grip down almost to the shaft. - weight 70+% on forward foot no weight shift - Use your putting stroke. The stroke will be up and down slightly because you are leaning forward with your weight. - Visualize your putter. Then putt it. DO NOT try to hit perfect chips right away. Accelerate enough to get every ball on the green. Once you can do that then try to hit it 1 yard on the green and roll the ball to the hole. Change clubs to make it roll different distances. I don't give a ton of short game stuff away on here as I have a membership site that people pay for so it's not fair to them. You can see my set up here: th-cam.com/video/uKs-y1GHySo/w-d-xo.html And this is how to change clubs: th-cam.com/video/VERRhU-Jz7g/w-d-xo.html
Hi Paul, love your stuff all the way from Ireland. Would you have any help for chipping yipps? Anything from chunks to tops to chip shanks. Any help would be appreciated-thanks!
Thanks so much. I appreciate it. Chipping is like putting. Do you yip your putting stroke. Probably not because you didn't mention it. So ball off back instep. 3-4 knuckle grip. Weight forward 70% (no shift). Now visualize your putting and putt it. Here are the ratios: th-cam.com/video/VERRhU-Jz7g/w-d-xo.html You have the yips because you are trying to hit the ball. Need to do a stroke. If so the ball will be hit. Practice just getting the balls on the green. Get every ball on then go for the pin. Too many people try to get too cute. Get it on.
Hiya Paul. For me the issue with wedges is the 30-50 yard shots, especially with the 56 (versus the gap wedge). Inconsistent contact is a major issue including fat and thin shots. I think I come over the top. Full swings are fine. Any suggestions? TNX....
Pitching is simple. Set the backswing by hinging your wrists for the shot you are trying to hit. Once set, turn your belt buckle as I show in this tip to hit the shot. HINGE/TURN th-cam.com/video/BZD0_jPL8ks/w-d-xo.html
i wish i had a way let you see my swing i hit them dead straight left an very long i hit a 6 iron the other day 230 yards.it went over pine an oak trees very high. Was a blooper i never hit that club like that i use 3 hybrid for 200 yard shots my friend said u need use that 6 iron off the tee after i done that hahahahaha
That's fine. I like people doing practice swings more than hitting into a net. With practice swings there is not ball. No ball means you can work on things without trying to whack at the ball. Make the changes then add the ball.
Yes, you can move your lower too fast. I am assuming in the downswing. If so you will push or push fade it. If you see these shots, slow down. I have a tip coming on this.
Great swing, looks exactly like all your other clubs. Ball went perfectly straight down range. Slightly less rotation and lead leg straightening, which is to be expected for such a short club. Excellent as always Paul!!
So I have been concerned about the belt buckle for all my shots.... guess that is why I haven't been launching drives over 250. Do you push with your back foot (more toes) to fire lower body?
Watch these: th-cam.com/video/KlffJzbskmM/w-d-xo.html and th-cam.com/video/m8FxSZSmKEw/w-d-xo.html pitches hinge your wrists then turn your belt buckle to hit it.
Why would you want to hold off anything. Too undependable. What if you hold it off too much Push too little Pull. Plus you have to practice a lot. Do my neutral grip and let it go not hitting or helping the ball with the arms.
Also, unless you are a low single digit player (few are) there is no reason you should be holding anything off. Although I am gaining more and better players that is not my audience. If you want to spend 2-4 hours a day (which I did for 2 years growing up) hitting pitch shots then go ahead. Most practice once a week and play once a week. No way on earth they are going to learn to dial in trajectories of pitch shots. They are just trying to get the consistently airborne.
Definately noticed this after starting body swing method....pulled wedges.....im ok on max wedge distances...like 100 yd for gap..or 85 for sand....i can just turn hips and release wedge for max distance.....its when im in between wedges...like 90-95... or 105 -110....then i have to take longer club and lay off the power...and not turn so much...or hold release....trying to work that out...choke up club...or go to 9 o clock on backswing.....these shots get pulled...or hit high and right with no release...or just plain chunked...sometimes bladed too......got to try this belt buckle thought as new method.....nothing worse then great drive...lay up...with scoring club in hand ...then blade one...pull one...chunk one....thats 1-2-3 strokes lost right there.....
Yeah but this is so simple. You are using the rotational speed of your body to hit it longer or shorter. ALWAYS do a full swing unless you are hitting short shots. Then you vary the rotational speed of your body for more or less. I think in mph. Slow = 1 Med = 2 Fast is 3 (normal swing speed). So let's say you hit your gap wedge with a full swing 100 yards. That would be full fast. Now the only change you make is to turn a little slower (2 mph). Boom now your gap goes 90. Full slow = 80. Now you are down to SW. Full fast 70 med 60 slow 50. Once you go below 50 you are shortening your backswing. See? You do your full swing 80-90% of the time. So you need to use this swing if you can. Only vary the rotational speed of your body or open the face more to vary distance. Use the belt buckle as the trigger on ALL pitches.
Is a pulled wedge "always" caused by that forward lean? I don't have video proof (so perhaps I am wrong) but I feel like my problem is a closed club face at impact and not leaning and coming over the top.
You are hitting with arms or starting them first in the downswing if you are pulling. The proof is that when you start the downswing as I suggest and hit it dead straight. If the face was closed at impact you would be hitting it left left with longer clubs. If it is just straight left then your face is square to the path which is left. So recognize what you are doing with a 7 iron let's say then you will know what you are doing with your wedges. Once you know that follow the tip and you will fix the pulls.
@@paulwilsongolf Thanks for the follow-up. I am anxious to try this and see if it fixes my problem. It doesn't happen every time for me but when it does, it is super aggravating. The worst is when it happens from the tee on short par 3's!
Pitching is simple. Set the backswing by hinging your wrists for the shot you are trying to hit. Once set, turn your belt buckle as I show in this tip to hit the shot. HINGE/TURN
Thanks again for this I just subscribe to your website recently, I was hitting the ball fat but now I'm not 😊also I do pull my wedges to the left and I'm hoping this will work too, cheers mate

I find that my tragectory is very high with my wedges and it robs me of distance. I also pull them from time to time. Is this tip related to something like that?
The high trajectory is a little chicken wing you are doing which is adding loft. Watch: th-cam.com/video/PZkBP21bPJU/w-d-xo.html This will certain cure the pull. For chicken wing watch: th-cam.com/video/DkD29OArc88/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/7o65z_pd28s/w-d-xo.html
@@paulwilsongolf thanks for answering. I watched and it makes sense. I'm going to make an effort to keep the arms extended. Sometimes when I try to keep things loose it's easy to let the arms fold and come through with a weak effort.
@@paulwilsongolf I'm a 63 year old 10 handicapper. We all struggle with flexibility issues in our swing. To hit with our arms and hand is first nature. What you teach and you teach it well, is a second nature move. It takes a swing thought like this to make the hip turn a first nature move. I really appreciate a good trigger or swing thought to fight the urge to go hit the ball. I live in San Diego and I hope some day could have a few hours of your golf school. There are so many things about your training that fit well into my swing. Hopefully a super thanks is contagious and you get a super thanks pandemic started, you deserve it. Thanks Paul, looking forward to your next show...
Hitting with the arms is for sure the main problem. I definitely try to give people other thoughts to replace the thought of hitting. After all you keep thinking of the same thing and you will keep doing it. Be great to work with you in the future. I have tons of students from Cali. I will be back on early October through mid December. Just let me know if you are heading this way. The super thanks is a great addition. I get people wanting to show their appreciation all the time but in the past there was no real way to do it. This makes it easy and every little bit helps. Thanks again.
With gap wedge and any longer club I think of sending the right knee to track behind the ball and that works well. For some reason it does not work well for sand and lob wedges. They get pulled 5-10 yards. Thanks for the "we need a thought.." part after the explanation of the problem. Many videos leave that out. Can't wait to try this tomorrow.

That's great. This will make a huge difference.
I followed your advice yesterday during my game and of course, it worked!! I went back to the earlier video you mentioned and, combined with the advice in this current video, gave the straight shots I was looking for. Cheers!
Very good. You are on your way. Keep at it.
Another valuable lesson from a great coach and a great communicator. Many thanks
Glad you liked it. Thanks for the support.
You nailed my problem from LW to 8iron. I will try this fix. I bought the Body Swing and go back to your booklets whenever I lose my swing. Thanks.
Fantastic! Thank you for the support.
Prob the best explained correctional golf video this Yr..
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
Thanks for this video Paul. I always think belt buckle or stomach to the target at swing finish. I have a bit of tendonitis in both wrists that stop me from cocking the wrists, but I stop the shoulder lunging turn and that helps me hit it straight.
Glad to help. Belt buckle is a good one. It it works keep doing it.
Been there.
Love the belt buckle trigger thanks Paul
This is so simple and it will be getting you hitting wedges right online. Do this and your scores drop dramatically. Glad you found me.
Thanks Paul I broke 80 for the second time and this video helped from my 9 iron down.....thanks again!
Very good. You on your way. Keep at it.
@@paulwilsongolf thanks keep those videos coming!
THANK YOU!!
Yes and yes. Well if you are pulling you will start aiming right to offset the pull. Now you can set up square.
Great tip thank you , It gave me a simple focus -turn the belt buckle towards the target and turned my arms off , hit some awesome pitches today.
Glad it helped! Got to stick those wedges for sure.
They sure can. Glad you found this tip. Now let's get back to rock solid again with the short clubs.
Right. You lean forward and you will send it over the top. Now you can start hitting great shots into the green.
It works ….what a great feeling. Pure and effortless.
This is big. Can't be pulling wedges. Now you know how to fix it and it's simple. Keep remembering it for the future.
Exactly what I have been doing. Belt buckle tomorrow!!
Very good.
Great tip Paul. Thank you. I wish I had heard you sooner.
Enjoy the day
Thanks. And people wonder why I repeat myself.
Need to work on hinging and rehinging your wrists.

very true, I am a decent golfer with a low handicap but my flaw has always been to pull wedges.I dont pay attention to rotate hips and legs as I think the swing is so short that there is no need to do it but this causes me to use only the arms thus......pulling the shot

Exactly. So simple to do too. Someone tells me to do it and I do it instantly. Funny how the ball makes people lose their minds.

Thanks so much. Dead straight is great.

I have started following only you. Your advise is the best I have been able to understand and implement.
Can you somehow include ball tracking in your videos?
Glad you like the tips. Ball tracking is tricky. Takes a ton of time which we don't have. If it becomes easier I will do it.
Thank You, helpful. Look forward to trying out.
For sure. This one will get you knocking down pins.
you make an interesting point at 2:30 mark....as soon as I "fixed" my push/slice with driver by making my lower body more active I started pulling wedges/irons like crazy.
@@paulwilsongolf nope. Pulling it worse than ever
Don't worry, it's not you it's me. No one can help. As you were
I could fix you in literally 2 mins. Tilt your body left you will swing left. Tilt right you will swing right. This is a fact. So if you feel you are tilted back yet you are pulling it you would be too tilted. Add a strong grip and you are actually duck hooking it not pull hooking it. So neutralize your grip first to reduce the spin. th-cam.com/video/jQZLp8bF-Ww/w-d-xo.html
Square up your alignment so you know exactly where you a hitting it:
th-cam.com/video/VFZc0Wq282k/w-d-xo.html
Don't believe I can fix you then post a video of you swing so I can see it. I never have an issue getting people to hit it straight. As I said this is literally 2 mins.
@@paulwilsongolf kind of you once again. I will give these things a go later. My strong hand IS my top hand so hopefully it won't even take 30 balls (;
Write me off, I'll stop bothering you
Paul, you’re probably the best swing doctor out there. Glad I made e investment in your program. Well worth it!
Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. I just see it differently and I know my students. Most people don't practice. So it has to be simple enough and memorable enough for people to actually try it (for more than 3 balls). If they do and see results then maybe they will keep doing it.

The belt buckle! Thanks
For sure. This is the key.
Love this drill... I will try it on driving range...

The hook part of the pull hooks you are hitting is a strong grip so I would neutralize that:

You're welcome.
Yeah, I’m guilty of the pulled wedge. Sage advice.
Very good.
Great stuff Paul. Just for my thought process: belt buckle move for the wedges and for the longer clubs still belt buckle but more aggressive with the hips?
Well, you certainly can use the belt buckle or choose a different trigger to get you to fire them.
th-cam.com/video/ZiIbTW14Was/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/7z5eUcSwlSk/w-d-xo.html
Very interesting Paul so it’s the lower speed of the rotation used for 8/9 irons or short wedges suggested.Swing is the same for all clubs, body speed change to cover the distance..right?
Thank you!!
Well, I am always firing the hips pretty hard. It's doesn't look like it because I've done it for so long. Typically I am about 80%. For the short clubs I have you switch from the legs to belt buckle because you don't have a hard drive with shorter clubs. Just think about this tip and you will see the result but don't baby your leg/hip action.
Thank you. I needed this.
Glad it was helpful!
Aha! Thank you. That is exactly what I am doing. Off to the driving range!
You can do it!
Good swing thought!
Simple and effective.
Can I use this belt buckle hip trigger for my full swing with driver and longer clubs too? The driving with my right foot or touching knees doesn’t quite work well for me.
Yes, this is the most popular downswing trigger for my students. It's simple.
If so, you will hit it dead straight. th-cam.com/video/GnQ2FfdQBDo/w-d-xo.html
th-cam.com/video/8ro_1NYPd8c/w-d-xo.html
Let me know how you do.
any advice for the chipping yips.
- weight 70+% on forward foot no weight shift
- Use your putting stroke.
You can see my set up here:

You're welcome!
Here are the ratios: th-cam.com/video/VERRhU-Jz7g/w-d-xo.html
You have the yips because you are trying to hit the ball. Need to do a stroke. If so the ball will be hit. Practice just getting the balls on the green. Get every ball on then go for the pin. Too many people try to get too cute. Get it on.
@@paulwilsongolf Gentleman, thank you very much. Keep up the great work👍
I've been pulling my PW & GW about 10 yards left lately & I'm sure this is the problem!
It sure will.
Hiya Paul. For me the issue with wedges is the 30-50 yard shots, especially with the 56 (versus the gap wedge). Inconsistent contact is a major issue including fat and thin shots. I think I come over the top. Full swings are fine. Any suggestions? TNX....
Fat shots:
th-cam.com/video/UwynwFBldv4/w-d-xo.html
Thin you are coming out of it. Watch the ball longer as you hit it then look up.
Paul, that hit looked like the ball went +75 yards. I struggle with this even in the 25 to 75 yard range. Same tought?
Pitching is simple. Set the backswing by hinging your wrists for the shot you are trying to hit. Once set, turn your belt buckle as I show in this tip to hit the shot. HINGE/TURN
th-cam.com/video/BZD0_jPL8ks/w-d-xo.html
thank you for this tips what i having trouble with...Question what do you think about hitting into a net ?
i wish i had a way let you see my swing i hit them dead straight left an very long i hit a 6 iron the other day 230 yards.it went over pine an oak trees very high.
Nice explenation
Glad you liked it. Thanks.
Paul a serious question here.
If you are taking away properly can you move your lower half too fast and be out of synch with your the rest?
Yes, you can move your lower too fast. I am assuming in the downswing. If so you will push or push fade it. If you see these shots, slow down. I have a tip coming on this.
Great swing, looks exactly like all your other clubs. Ball went perfectly straight down range. Slightly less rotation and lead leg straightening, which is to be expected for such a short club. Excellent as always Paul!!
Thanks. I did a little of my new more there. Kind of hard when in the middle of a tip. Haven't done it long enough yet.
Good tips. Ironically, I've been leaving my pitching wedges 10
yds right lately.
So you are probably sliding a little. Turn more. Then you hit hit them dead straight.
I wonder if leaning forward with all my clubs is causing my pull? I'll have to pay more attention to my upper body next time.
It sure is: th-cam.com/video/KlffJzbskmM/w-d-xo.html
Ok ,I kept doing that with short irons ,it makes sence ,I will give it a try

So I have been concerned about the belt buckle for all my shots.... guess that is why I haven't been launching drives over 250. Do you push with your back foot (more toes) to fire lower body?

Great.
Holding off the release also helps hooked shots with wedges and short irons, belt buckle facing the target notwithstanding.
Why would you want to hold off anything. Too undependable. What if you hold it off too much Push too little Pull. Plus you have to practice a lot. Do my neutral grip and let it go not hitting or helping the ball with the arms.
@@paulwilsongolf because that what all good players do to control shot trajectory. I guess not in your teaching wheelhouse.
If I am hitting a punch shot I play it low but that is a different shot: th-cam.com/video/NeY3UjiN_Ts/w-d-xo.html
Yes you have to know your audience. Maybe soon you”ll do a series of videos “shot shaping for advanced players”
I liked this tip!
Great. Thanks.
good stuff ...you're like a ninja ...sneaking into my golf swing and assassinating the gremlins
Exactly. There is so much stuff swirling in people heads. I was like this many years ago. It got me nowhere. Once I made it simple I got it.
You've got this. So simple. Just need to change what you are thinking about to hit your shorter shots.
how about from 30-50 yards? having a hard time starting downswing with hip rotation.
Pitching is simple. Set the backswing by hinging your wrists for the shot you are trying to hit. Once set, turn your belt buckle as I show in this tip to hit the shot. HINGE/TURN
Will it stop me pushing my wedges to the right paul
No, that would be you sliding. Hit the top and think "Turn" if so you will hit it dead straight.

@@paulwilsongolf I'm a 63 year old 10 handicapper. We all struggle with flexibility issues in our swing. To hit with our arms and hand is first nature. Hitting with the arms is for sure the main problem. I definitely try to give people other thoughts to replace the thought of hitting.
