So glad you found me. Shanks are scary but as you can see they are easy to fix. Try to remember this tip into the future. We don't want them every coming back.
I had been been shanking the ball on a consistent basis and after watching this video I have gone 6 rounds without shanking the ball a single time. Thank you Paul!
Yeah, i really think this is what i am doing. I was shanking the 5,7,8,9,PW - usually from the tee box only though. When it's on the fairway eveyrthing seemed ok at the time. Lets see how it goes
Been shanking for 3 weeks. Literally was about to hang it up already for the year. Videos like this never work…..but this one legit did. Within 1 minute I was fixed. What a relief. TY!
I discovered Paul Wilson a few months ago and can not praise him enough. I have been playing for 25 yrs and became a 3 hdcp. Unfortunately I lost my swing and began watching hundreds of youtube vids etc...w no luck. I then found Paul. EVERYTHING he discusses is 100 % accurate especially when I comes to loose swing, hinging etc. Don't waste your time listening to other pros....this pro knows the swing.
Thank you so much. Good players like my stuff once they come on board. It is so simple plus you can fix your own swing. Isn't that what it's all about.
I’m a 20 handicap and developed the shanks this week. Watched this video, fixed and added better trajectory and distance after a few holes of adjustment. Thank you Paul! 👑
Very good. Glad you are learning it. Big things to come for you. Just do daily practice swings. Hit the positions. If so, you look like a tour pro. Then you hit it great. Literally grip and set up plus 4 positions. Someone told me they could do that years ago I would have been all over it.
I would say Paul Wilson is one of the best coaches. I’ve watched hundreds of videos and he explains everything with the cause and effect. I’ve stopped slicing and now will try the shanking tips. 🙂
UNBELIEVABLE! I'm 62 and a 4 hcp. Every 4-5 years I get the shanks at the range. Yesterday was the day. Couldn't stop... hit 2 buckets of hosel rockets with my 6 and 9 iron. I've never been 100% sure why, but I find a way to work through/around it. This morning I went to the range hoping these tips worked but accepted the fact that I might cancel today's round of golf if Paul's video wasn't "the fix". Hit the ball great at the range and didn't once consider that I might shank one on the course. I now know the root of the problem and it actually helped me hit the ball even more solidly due to improved posture and proper weight balance, Thank you very much!👍👍
Glad you found me. I can fix swings in minutes. Been doing so since 1991. So as much as there are other fixes for shanks out there they don't work. I once fixed a guy in 5 mins who took 10 lessons on how to fix it that never worked. This is so simple but such a scary shot when you don't know "why." Please remember this tip for the future. We don't want them ever coming back.
@@paulwilsongolf First time ever that I understood why a shank happens...my posture and weight distribution. I don't foresee this being an issue ever again. I purchased your BODY SWING series yesterday. Looking at a recent video of mine, my hip rotation was there, but way too late. Worked on that this morning and I was hitting the ball 240+ with what felt like a lesser (easier) swing. Incorporating the wrist hinging drills and speeding up the hip rotation and I can see no reason that 250-260 drives are in my future. Never thought having the shanks would end up being a blessing but finding your video and learning your process has been transformational after just 2 days. Thank You!
Thank you so much for your support. I appreciate it. Sounds like you are figuring it out. Loose wrists is a huge key for power. Please follow each lesson carefully and do daily practice swings. This is the fastest way to get it.
I just want to say thank you! I've watched 7-10 videos and you were the only one who mentioned tall players often bend over too much and the suggested fix of moving back only exacerbates the problem. I just hit 75-100 balls without shanks now that I am standing more upright. Thanks so much!
Glad you found me. If you look below this tip I have fixed tons of shankers. When you read their comments most tell you that they are taller so height has to be an issue. Stay focused and remember this for the future then they will never come back.
Paul, I was shanking so bad I thought about cancelling my tee time yesterday and giving up the game! After watching this video I wrote down your three keys to STOP shanking and went to the course hopeful. Did not shank one shot! Struck my irons very solid and consistent. Thank you for this, it has saved me and my game!
Same here. I hit two buckets on balls on the range and must have shanked about 80% of them. Nearly gave up the game there and then! This was a great fix, thank you.
@@banjomactavish I'm in the same exact boat. Was playing my irons pretty well like 3 weeks ago, wasnt able to play for a while and now it's like a can't hit an iron. Idk what happened. Definitely apply these tips tomorrow at the range
3 years of shanking and your easy to follow and understand explanation of what causes the shank has finally made sense to me and seems to have finally got rid of the dreaded S word,I wish I had found your advice years ago it would have saved me so much money and doubt,Thank You
Glad you found me. Better late than never. I probably don't even have to tell you to remember what I said in this tip so you never shank it again. Good job.
I am 6’4” and this provided an instant fix. It’s so counter intuitive that when you’re making contact on the inside of your club that you SHOULD NOT stand further away (because that increases the forward lean even more). I started standing a little closer to the ball with the more upright club tilt and my shanks stopped immediately. Great video.
Glad you found me. I have helped countless people cure the shanks. It's super simple but you need to know what to do. Please remember this so they never come back.
Paul you are a genius! I've battled random shanks for years when I was playing often. When I was playing regularly I was a single digit player. I haven't played in years but had family coming for a visit and Top Golf was in the plans. I went to driving range hoping to find my swing but instead found nothing but shanks. It was terrible. Even when I didn't shank the ball I was near the hosel on impact. I had no clue what the problem was until I watched your video. I focused on your suggestions from the video. When I made my very first swing at Top Golf I was a bit nervous but the shot was pure. I proceeded to go flag hunting and was hitting 5 greens in a row multiple times throughout the evening. My swing was back and thanks to you. Best of all I never even came close to a shank the whole evening. I had so much confidence when I left and was so proud of my performance. Everything you said made so much sense and was spot on. Thanks again for your video.
Shanks can be scary for sure but as you see they are easy to fix. Glad you found me. Be sure to check this before you play I to the future so they never come back. Great job!
I just wish I had known this long ago but better late than never. When I left the range trying to find my swing I told my wife that I might as well sell my clubs because I know longer have skills to use them. I realize Top Golf balls don’t have the same flight characteristics as a normal ball however they certainly can be shanked. Ask me how I know from previous experiences a year or so ago. I’ve always crouched probably more than I should but when I played more it wasn’t a major problem but I remember shanking as a junior golfer. I have renewed enthusiasm thanks to you!
Well, most pros don't know this either. I had one student take 10 lessons to try to cure his shanks. I fixed him in 10 mins. There are hundreds I have fixed under this tip. So scary to hit but so simple to fix. Glad you found me.
As someone who used to play a lot and shoot 70s consistently I was really close to quitting the game. I don’t play as much as I used to because of work and such. So when I’d go out it wasn’t fun anymore I randomly got the shanks a couple months ago and this was like a light bulb went off in my head. Thank you !! No longer scared to hit a 60 yard pitch shot
So glad you found me. Shanks are not fun but super simple to fix. If you have shot in the 70's you have the fundamentals. Be sure you do daily practice swings if you are not getting out there as much as you want. You need to keep the remembering the motion. Plus, the longer the break the more you will want to hit with the arms so practice swings keeps the feeling of using the body. I talk about it here: th-cam.com/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/w-d-xo.html Stay focused and check your set up every time. If so, the shanks will never come back.
This really helped. I've been hitting short clubs poorly all summer. After watching this vid, I'm certain that too much waist bend and not enough knee flex is the culprit. I just had the best range session I've had all year. Thanks.
I can’t tell you how much I needed this video! I have been shanking for weeks now and I could not figure out what I was doing different. I was actually getting scared when stepping up to the ball because I was doubting everything. Now I am paying more attention to my balance when swinging and have not been shanking since!
Hi Paul.. About a month ago I played a couple rounds of golf and shanking came into those games.. I immediately watched this video... I took your advice and went to the driving range for 3 days.. I have no shanking problems anymore.. I tell all my golfing friends about you and your videos... Many thanks...
I've been taking lessons for 3 months now, and frankly, my back hurts from working on getting shaft lean, and i keep waiting for the lightbulb moment. Frustrated, I found your TH-cam videos last night, and couldn't stop watching. I went to the range today to tried out the hip turn you talk about to initiate the swing and I was roping my shots! It's so intuitive, and feels so right. Thank you! You are a wonderful teacher. Please keep up the great work.
Glad you found me. I went through everything you went through too. This is why I keep it simple. If people want to make it complicated I will say right now it will never work. Simple is the key.
Never shanked in my life, except on day one of a 2-day golf trip. Day 1 I started shanking on the range. Damn near lost my mine on the course and I have never been so scared to hit my irons by the end of that day (especially the shorter ones). The next morning, I found this video. My friends made fun of me for trying to apply an instant fix. But THIS VIDEO WORKED. Back on the range an hour later and applied the basic steps. It was instant. I was a normal golfer again and had a MUCH better day. Huge fan of this video for anyone
Yes, slap your friends upside the head for me. Lol. They don't know who I am and the results I get. I people can fix one shanker it's a miracle. If you look below this video at the other commenters I have literally fixed hundreds in minutes. Try to remember this one for the future so they never come back. Great job!
I have struggled with chronic shanking of my short clubs for about the last 3 years. After many lessons from many pros, I found your video and practiced what you preach for one week. My shanks are gone and I am swinging confidently. God bless you.
I've been away from golf for a few years due to a biking accident, and decided to see if I could get my swing back before playing on a course. Well for a few weeks I've been struggling with a shank that humbled me since I'm a student of the game and a former 10 handicapper. I tried your weight distribution idea yesterday and voila,no more shank plus I'm hitting my irons much better. Thank you so much !
So glad you found me. Shanking is not fun. When people take a break then will wander up to a ball bent over too much. This is because this takes zero effort and doesn't put your body under stress. Doing a more athletic set up takes you physically doing it and there is a little stress. Plus, the taking a break gets you hitting with the arms when you get back into it because human nature is telling you to hit the object sitting in front of you. When you hit this can lean you forward as well and you get the shanks. So keep doing the more athletic set up. Then keep the arms relaxed as you use your legs and hips to hit the ball. Let's get you to a single digit this season. Easy to do.
I had a wicked case of the shanks come out of no where just as my hdcp was dropping. I looked at a bunch of videos and yours was the one that fixed me. I was standing too close and too hunched over. I love the tip on around & around and back heel to front heel. Thanks for the fix
It works! I get the shanks with my short irons for a few months every year. Absolutely recasting to my delicate golf psyche. Practiced this tip and played two rounds of golf and ai feel like an finally understand the proper mechanics of short irons. Super helpful tips! You’re a genius!
It sure does. Now you will be able to say that you never get the shanks ... ever. Please remember it for the future. This bad streak you have is really affecting your game.
Exactly. I have been fixing shankers in minutes for years. There is no need to get worried about these shots. Just follow this tip and it will fix anyone and it's simple. Glad you found it.
Shanking was largely what triggered me to quit golf about 15 years ago. I picked up playing again three years ago and found myself occasionally shanking, often at the end of the round. I looked at many videos, but yours was the one which held the cure! Stand up straighter! (and keeping weight in middle of feet). I'm 6'5" so had been tending to have my body weight over the ball. I've played three rounds now with no shanking and with better contact with my irons. Thank you.
Very good. Glad you found me . Not fun shanking it but you are taller. Now you know the cause. Please keep this in mind forever so they don't come back.
This is exactly what I needed. I’ve been working on my short game almost exclusively the last couple of weeks and all of a sudden I started shanking which I’ve never done before! Really threw me off because my irons used to be the best part of my game. Thank you!
You are a genius. I had two weeks of shanks. Couldn’t figure out why. Went to the range today and did what you said in your video. Flushed them all. Thanks. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
So glad you found me and I could help you get rid of the shanks. Not fun when you get them but as you see they are easy to fix. Try to remember this for the future so they never come back.
At last, someone who really understands why shanking happens, and who explains it so succinctly. Knowing this, has eliminated doubt, and creates confidence and ultimately enjoyment. Thank you so much Sir. Thank you.
I give you credit for your shank fix diagnosis and cures. As a periodic shanker it’s my belief that many shanks are the direct result of moving the back hip (for right handers) forward as your rotating instead of moving your left hip back, away from the club path. The result is a small and that’s all it takes, movement toward the ball. This is also coupled and associated with early extension.
Well not sure about that but if you think that is what you are doing then go with it. I would be checking your set up and making sure you are not getting on your toes.
Good advice, shank fixed instantly...I play of 5 and recently started shanking.... had no idea why mostly short irons 50 gap, P wedge, or if I hold the club down down the shaft to shorten my distance 6 iron 7iron but shanks fixed Instantly thanks Paul God bless
Brilliant. I had seen others, seen their suffering and felt sorry for them. Never experienced it myself until last Sunday. Most miserable dismal round of golf ever. Amazing how you just loose confidence. Saw a bunch of videos, then came across this one and it made sense to me, applied it and it is gone. 5 minutes? Less than that! Thank you very very much!
Glad you found me. So simple to fix shanking. Just need to get the root of the problem. Once you know that it becomes crystal clear. Try to remember it into the future.
Hello Paul. I haven't been hitting shank shots for years until yesterday morning. Suddenly happened with my 60° wedge.. oh my God, feeling so bad. Immediately I went through your videos and found this. Many thanks for your comprehensive explanations. I hope I will never shank the ball again... hahaha.. warmest regards, from Jakarta
Great to hear from you. So glad you found the cure shank tip. The shanks can occur at any time (if you haven't watched this tip). Now into the future just double check your set up especially with the shorter clubs. If so, you will never do it again.
I have been troubled with the shanks, off and on, for many years and have tried various methods to rid myself of them. Can’t believe how this tip has changed my whole outlook on the game. So simple yet a real game-changer. Many thanks Paul Wilson.
Thank You for the tip to stand tall. Helped me today 10/13/2020. Have the shanks with my wedges and short irons. Stood tall today, hit my irons longer and solid, haven't hit the irons with confidence like I did today in a few year's. Didn't even have a thought of shanking enter my mind today. Shot a 77. Thanks again for the session. Phil 😎⛳
Paul I just need you to know this is the greatest video on TH-cam for fixing the shanks. Concise, simple and easy to practice. For some reason maybe once a year I will get the shanks to where I cant hit a single good shot in a round an wont know whats causing it. I know to come to this video when that happens for a refresher and cures it in like 3 swings.
Yeah, don't hit the headcover. Like that is going to work. That is still hitting which is causing the problem in the first place. Got to get to the root of the problem. Glad you liked it. Thanks.
Thank you so much Paul! I’ve battled the shanks off and on for over 10 years. Tried everything. Lessons etc. this is the only tried and true method to eliminate the shanks. Thanks again and God bless!
Glad it helped! Everyone gets so worried about these and yet I can fix them in 5-10mins. Try to remember this into the future. We certainly don't want them ever coming back.
Paul thank you! You are a life saver! My golf season was going well and then 2 days ago, right before a big match I went to warm up at the range and hit a full bucket of shanks and topped balls. I returned to the range a day later, after losing my match and did the same thing. In absolute desperation and frustration I searched online and found this video. What a difference! Today I went out and right away the problem was gone! I went out and played a round; shot 40 on the back 9! (Never mind the front! 😁). Your “right heel/left heel” drill not only eliminated the shank, but I’m hitting crisper shots (all clubs) and transferring more power into my shot, hitting the sweet spot far more often! Thanks again, great lesson!
Too bad about the match but glad you found me. Now it will never happen again in the future. Shanking isn't fun but it really is simple to fix so you can get your confidence back. You're sounding pretty confident! Keep at it.
Paul I "shot the shot that shall not be named" 50 shots in a row yesterday. Your complete coaching fixed it in three swings. It like you were talking about me. I am 6'2 and all I had to do was get my body mass back behind my toe line and presto!! Really thankful for you! I took notes and added them to my preround swing notes. "body mass behind toe line" That one line just magic!
Glad you help. This is so easy to fix. Definitely a problem the taller you are. Try to remember this into the future so it never happens again. You will get your confidence back in no time and world will be a better place.
Paul, thank you! I am haunted by the shanks every couple years, and like so many comments below, it makes we want to hang up the clubs. Happened again over several rounds last week. I found your video, took notes, hit the range, and not a single shank. Confidence it back thanks to you. Wont hit the course going forward without my "Paul Notes". Thanks again!
I started working on the effortless swing today and after about 30 balls I started to feel it. You explain things in a way I can understand. I have never felt such pure shots. Thank you Paul.
Paul is the absolute best. Sensible, concise, no conceit - he understands well, explains well and obviously means well - that players improve their game. Half a dozen other videos from well-known coaches were useless; in addition to the solution (which works), Paul explains the how and why, which are essential to a proper fix. It also improved my ball striking.
Thanks for the support. I appreciate it. I have always thought of it from the student's perspective. This is why I say things the way I say it. Glad you like and understand the tips and are seeing results.
@@paulwilsongolf Whenever I have been teaching anything, I have always said that empathy is the most important thing - it's no coincidence your reply reflects that sentiment! You seem like a really nice guy too, which always helps. I'd love to meet up for a lesson, or one of the courses one day but distance is the enemy (and I don't mean with the driver). ; )
It sure is. I have been there in the 10 years it took me to get my swing back after taking lessons so I know what people are going through. If you have never gone through this how can you relate? I am a nice guy but 34 years of people not listening or trying to prove me wrong has taken it's toll. I want people to get this so bad so when they don't listen it's tough. Knowing this I try to dumb it down more and more so eventually it is so simple people try it. I will keep doing what I do and one day maybe everyone is talking about not hitting with the arms. I do see more and more teachers are stealing my stuff so maybe they are realizing I might just be onto something.
@@paulwilsongolf "I want people to get this so bad" is so evident from your videos. Your enthusiasm and conviction are impressive. That frustration mirrors some historical characters, such as Ignaz Semmelweis - who knew that hand-washing in hospitals saved lives - the medical establishment "knew better" (germs were unknown) - which drove him literally, mad. I have noted people "borrowing" from your system and advice. I do have your course, so may drop you a line via the contact messages. No need to reply. Was never able to use the real-time coaching connection but maybe I will get around to seeing you, LV and monument valley sometime next year, Paul. : )
@Osscouter, I couldn’t agree more! I’m 64 years old and played since I was 16. When I started shanking it would be my wedges. Played tournaments and got the shanks and would shoot 90. I’d shank from 80yds out then all the way around the green. No one could ever help. This is exactly what I was doing! Thanks so much guys for the tip and best of luck!
I know you may never see this, but today I watched this video after dealing with a very bad case of the shanks for the past two weeks. As I didn't have time to go to the range before my tee time today, I simply practiced these tips with my practice swing for about 5 minutes and kept a note in my pocket listing each tip so I could remember them throughout the round. Only had two shots shank across all 18 holes, and both of those times I felt exactly where my weight was incorrectly distributed. I thank you very much for making it simple and easy to learn, it made a huge difference today and will continue to do so in the future. Can't thank you enough.
I actually try to answer all questions. So glad you found this tip and fixed your shanks. Keep going through your checklist so they never come back in the future. Great job.
Thanks so much for this video! I’m just getting back into golf after not playing for quite a few years. It was frustrating to have the dreaded shank come back to haunt me. BUT your video was spot on and fixed my swing faults immediately. Keep up the great work.
Glad it helped! Taking time off of golf will certainly get you hitting with the arms when you get back into it. Paul is incredible. When I have an issue with the swing I first, go to him. He's so clear and concise in getting to the route of the problem. I havn't shanked a ball is quite some time but when it happened it's paralysing. Listened to his video, went to the range the next day, followed his advise and, you guessed it, no more shanks. Thanks so much Paul. You are the Man!
That's great. I tell people to only follow one pro. If it's me that's great. If it's someone else that's great too but you start following more than one teacher and you will get nowhere. We all see the swing differently. Thanks for choosing me.
Perfect timing for this lesson, Paul. I surprised myself with a shank on a stroke that I was sure would set me up for a birdie! Bummer! I'm gonna work on this so that doesn't happen again . . . or at least not too often ;-) Thanks so much.
Glad to help! These shots are surprising, depressing and frustrating all at the same time. Just remember this for the future and you will never shank it.
I have been battling a terrible case of the shanks again this year, in a very, very dark place with regard to this crazy game with no answers. I stumbled on this video and took Paul’s tips to the range tonight. I hit an ENTIRE large bucket square on the face of every iron. I was simply amazed!! I could not believe how simple the fix was. I can’t wait to take what I’ve learned to the course this weekend. Thank you, Paul!! You are the real deal!!
I watched this video after a frustrating range session where it literally shanked every ball, hadn't played for a year or so and used to play at a decent level... Went down the range this evening and stood tall and couldn't believe that it Instantly changed... I also watched the hit the ball pure video aswell. Best advice I have ever been given! Thanks 👍 Phil from the UK
Totally worked. Thank you so much! I’m 6’7” and was doing exactly the opposite of what you are teaching. Bending over to get closer to the ball, wrong! Watched the video, went to my practice net and stopped shanking immediately!
Playing the best golf in my life and then caught the shanks so bad I was ready to quit the game. Thank you Paul! This video made perfect sense and cured me.
Well paul if you'd seen me 48hrs ago in my garden in west cork Ireland you would have seen a pathetic wreck of a man. I was pure shanking 7 of 10 shots and miss hitting the other 3. No matter what I tried I could not get out of it. So I turned to TH-cam for some inspiration. I watched yr video about stand tall with the short iron and liked the simplicity Next day I hit 100 plus 50 to 60yd pitches and no shank. This sounds like I'm being paid to say this but check me out I'm a 12 index golfer who can play a bit but was falling down a slippery slope . So for now thanks for the free advice on my shanks . I actually hit a couple of longer shots using your 90 to 90 method and creamed both with an 8 iron. Solid contact shots. I nearly cried. Good man I'll tune in to your other vids for driving and longer irons next Regards Dan
So, I play pitch and putt (holes max 70 yards) and had reached the point of utter despair and giving up... then I saw this video yesterday...went out and hit 4 consecutive 50 yard pitches all within 6 feet! I had thought I had tried everything but Paul's piece really is spot on. Thank you!
Just want those doubters to know that this method works. I didn't shank a single shot. In addition, I played with the same ball for the first 9 holes on a very tough course. Thank you, Paul!
I sure does. I have literally fixed tons of shankers in minutes over the years. One person had 10 lessons with various pros to no avail. 5 mins working with me he was fixed. Glad you found me and fixed it too. Now be sure to remember it so the shanks don't come back in the future.
6'4" here, I use to be a scratch golfer, but at any given time I would hosel rocket any iron. Trying to get out and play more and the S word is still always on my mind when swinging. Having that swing thought always lingering I know cost me a few strokes every round
So, I just tried this tonight. I would say… within 5 minutes, I was hitting balls straight with all clubs pretty consistently! This was MAGIC advice! Thank you for sharing your technique!
Great vid ...Also, during the downswing, I try to feel the centrifugal force pull the clubhead along the circumference of the arc (to keep me off my toes and stay centered) ...keep the faith bro !!
Sound advice, been playing with a shank for the last 3 weeks. I played today using your advice and had the best round of golf for weeks with no shanks. Thanks for the video 👍
Great tips, I’d like to add also that as a lifelong shanker, I finally realized that when I hit shanks I’m not rotating my hips. Almost all of my rotation is upper body, which I think is more common with shorter clubs. So for me, the easiest fix was just making sure I rotated at my waist rather than my chest/shoulders.
Why didn’t I come across this explanation 3 years ago!! This is by far the simplest explanation I have heard. I’ve seen several instructors and have tried all kinds of drills to fix my recurring shanks and it’s been more than frustrating! It makes total sense! I’m a 5 index but get the shanks from time to time. No more once I implement your fix!!
Glad you found me. Shanks are easy to fix. You can see the hundreds who have commented below this tip. Stay focused and always check this when you go to hit balls. Typically it is going to happen with the shorter clubs so every time you pick one up remind yourself then they will never come back.
Just wanted to say this video was a life safer. developed the shanks seemingly out of nowhere and had a "big" round scheduled with some friends I hadn't seen in a while. this fixed me right up. fantastic stuff.
Hey Paul, Starting shanking my irons almost two years ago. I had given up playing all together and only came out for Best Ball tourneys that I was invited to for hitting bombs off the tee...lol. Last game i played was back in October and lost almost 20 balls from shanking and with a ball speed around 165 - it was dangerous to be on the course. Watched this video after a friend sent it and to be honest had no expectations on a fix. Simple weight shift and my swing felt stable even practicing in the garage. Played last week and was blown away. Irons were crisp and yardage was dead on. Lost one ball after an aggressive line on a drive but that was it. Absolutely amazing. I owe ya a tab on the 19th bud.
So glad you found me and cured the shanks. Not fun when you have them but easy to fix. Please remember this into the future so they don't come back. Good job.
Started shanking the ball and had no idea why. I watched your video and just kept my weight back and I stopped. It was so simple but I really didn't know what I was doing. Thanks so much.
Wow, I am speechless. I’m so glad I ran into this video. I was getting so frustrated because I couldn’t figure out what the issue was. The fix was so simple! I’m hitting my wedges pure now!
Thank you! I am single marker and also play hickory golf. Doesn’t happen often, but when it does, it hangs around - soul and confidence destroying. Happened this weekend on my last hole with the 48 wedge. Followed me home and has shadowed me all week. I was going insane - until I came upon your video. My compliments to you, the best thing is how you explained very simply why it happens. And it is remarkable how the confidence suddenly returns. Thank you 🙏
i cannot thank you enough. My coach couldn’t figure out what im doing wrong and neither did i. I have been struggling for the past 3 weeks and wanting to give up on golf. I have really big tournaments this weekend and I thought I couldn’t go because my confidence is all gone. I watched your video and within seconds drove to my range to try those tips out. Some of my shots are still shanks but its waaaayyy better. Thank you so so muchh
Makes so much sense, I've been struggling with shanks for a few weeks, after watching your video, it's given me confidence already ... I'm off to practice, Sincere thanks for your commonsense approach... 💡
Mr. Wilson I want to thank so very much for this video. I have tried everything to stop the shanks. The tip to stand taller has done it! At long last I've finally rid myself of the thing that has ruined my golf for the last 20 years. Sir, I thank you!
Excellent! This shot has ruined many a round and many a person's swing when really they are so simple to fix. Once you stop shanking you can get your confidence back. Won't take long.
Once again Paul you have saved my game! Have a trip starting tomorrow with some buddies. Yesterday this affliction showed up and ruined my practice round. Emergency range session today. A couple mildly squirrelly ones early but after that the wedges were all good! Thanks so much!
Just saw your comment. Thank you so much for your support. I appreciate it. Hopefully they haven't come back. Not fun when you shank it but as you they are easy to fix.
Paul, You are spot on when it comes to this video. I got the case of the Shanks my last 8 games and sure enough I watched your video and took down some notes and I literally played a great game of golf yesterday without shanking the ball once. The stand taller method and understanding how my body was moving forward causing the club to move was a major breakthrough. I love how you teach, real easy information to digest and use on the range or course. thanks again for the help!
Very good. It really is simple to fix the shanks. I have done it for years in minutes ever after the person has had numerous lessons to fix them. Just need to understand "why" you are doing it. Understand why and you can fix it. Please remember to keep checking it into the future. We don't want them coming back.
Superb video. Started shanking last week and could get rid of it and it was draining me mad. Went to the range this morning after watching this and all is well in the world again! Thanks Paul!
I have been shanking and having problems with my wedges for a while. I’m 6’3 and tried this today. The one that really worked for me is back heel to front heel! It instantly improved my contact and connection. This might be a game changer for me! Thank you for this easy gold nugget!
Very good. Shanking is so easy to fix. Taller person after taller person gets them so there must be a correlation with height. Just keep following the tip and they will never come back.
Paul I’ve been playing for years but I was always using my arms instead of my body to hit the golf ball but after watching your videos I am now hitting the ball so well now. Thanks.
Great to hear. So many people using just their arms. I am slowly getting people to switch. One day everyone will stop hitting. Not sure I will be alive when that happens but I am doing what I can.
I'm going to give your shank fix a try as soon as I get to the range. I've been contemplating hanging up my new clubs and quitting the game because of this ego-deflating shank. I thought this problem was due to my back injury which kept me from golfing for 5 years. After watching your video, I believe I can fix it in 5 minutes. I'll keep you posted as soon as I get through my 1st bucket. Maybe there's hope for my game after all!
No need to be worried about shanking. You will fix it in minutes just like the other commenters below. I know it worrying but you'll see that you can do it just like all the other commenters who have fixed their shanks too. Once you do, you can get you confidence back and leave them in the past. You've got this.
Glad it was helpful! Well, others haven't figured it out because I refused to believe you couldn't fix people in minutes. Plus, I get to the root of the problem. There has to be a reason for everything. Once you know that the answer is clear.
This works! I have been plagued by shanks this year that popped up randomly in my pitch shots. I couldn’t figure it out, it turns out I was out over my toes when I was choking up (making a short club shorter). It was made worse the day after a workout or late in a round. This flat out works!
It sure does work. Glad you found this tip and tried it. The shanks can get in your head for sure. They are actually pretty simple to fix. Once fixed you get your confidence back and start playing some great golf.
I developed a hosel rocket last year and this year it has been awful! I watched your video, made notes and took it to the range this afternoon and WOW! One mishit and the rest of the strikes were more centred on the clubface. Went from my 56 to my 5 iron with immediate improvement! Some work to do on direction, but solid contact throughout the bag. Thanks so much!
Glad you liked it. I have literally fixed hundreds of shankers with this tip. Their comments are below. Just follow along and keep it simple. If so, they will be gone forever.
Highly recommended watching this video if you shank the ball. For years I have shanked most of my irons and wedges, So glad I found this video, I have not shanked the ball in my last two rounds after practiceing this on the range. Thank you Paul 👍⛳
Yes, all shankers should watch this video. I can fix you in 5 mins or less. So simple to fix and once you get it you never shank it again. Thank you so much for trying it and letting others know it works.
Paul, I had a few bad shank experiences on the range and really got nervous about having the swing follow me to the course. I came home, watched this video, and promptly returned to the range. Presto! I stood taller and made tremendous contact. Stood taller during my round today on all clubs and focused on weight on the laces. Much better contact! Appreciate this tip.
I seem to get the shanks once or twice a year. Had them two rounds ago. Was very nervous to play yesterday. Kept the thought of standing up straighter, no shanks. Thank you sir for this video !
Paul, that is absolutely amazing. I am 6'2, play off 11 but started shanking short irons. It has been a couple weeks now and completely debilitating. This took less than 2 minutes on the mat to sort. "Stand tall is all that is in my mind now with 8 down. I cannot thank you enough.
I am an old bag who has been golfing for 30 years....I love golf.....but was almost ready to quit playing altogether because of shanking my short irons. It is embarrassing and demoralizing! I tried everything, but couldn't stop shanking. Then I ran across your channel and today tried standing taller.....what do you know....no shanks today!!! I could hug you! I hope I can remember this tip in the future (I'm old) . I really appreciate your method of teaching as it is easy to understand and makes sense. I am also trying to get looser wrists and turn off my arms....(I've been an arms "hitter" for all my life). Thank you so much, Paul.
Thanks!
Thanks so much for the contribution. I truly appreciate the support.
❤
thank you, Paul. not sure how the shank crept into my swing but you fixed it!
Glad to help. Scary shot but easy to fix.
2 sleepless nights, borderline about to cancel tee times. Found this video, went straight to the range and instantly fixed. Absolute legend.
So glad you found me. Shanks are scary but as you can see they are easy to fix. Try to remember this tip into the future. We don't want them every coming back.
cancelled my tee time today... ;-)
Honestly the shank is living rent free in my head😂
Scary shot but so easy to fix. Just follow the tip. I have literally fixed hundreds of shankers.
Glad I m not alone about sleepless night and quiting golf forever
I had been been shanking the ball on a consistent basis and after watching this video I have gone 6 rounds without shanking the ball a single time. Thank you Paul!
Very good. So simple to fix yet everyone gets so worried about them. Remember the fix for the future so they never come back.
TY!
Glad you found me. Not fun when you get the shanks but easy to fix. Please remember this for the future so they don't come back.
@@paulwilsongolf definitely will and I subscribed. Thanks again!
Me too i have taken lessons from of the top 50 pros. I pulled out Pauls book and last two months have converted my pull down swing to effortless power
I now know the root of the problem and it actually helped me hit the ball even more solidly due to improved posture and proper weight balance,
Thank you very much!👍👍
Glad you found me.
Very good. Glad you found me. Not fun when you get the shanks but it's easy to fix.
I put my change in my left pocket, tied my left shoe in a double knot and turned my hat backwards......
@@Mr.Helper. lol
I talk about it here:
th-cam.com/video/fuOJxv_22Hk/w-d-xo.html
Stay focused and check your set up every time. If so, the shanks will never come back.
This really helped. I've been hitting short clubs poorly all summer. After watching this vid, I'm certain that too much waist bend and not enough knee flex is the culprit. I just had the best range session I've had all year. Thanks.
Glad you found me. Simple to fix. Keep at it so you get your confidence back.
I can’t tell you how much I needed this video! I have been shanking for weeks now and I could not figure out what I was doing different. I was actually getting scared when stepping up to the ball because I was doubting everything. Now I am paying more attention to my balance when swinging and have not been shanking since!
Glad it helped! So simple to fix. Now you can get your confidence back and start playing some great golf.
I watched every video out there to stop shanking. I almost sold my cub membership, then I came back to Paul and I"M CURED!!!!! Thanks Paul.
Glad you found me. Easy to fix. Let's get your confidence back.
Great tip!!!! I struggled with the shank for years and no one was able to help me. I watched this video once and it cures my shanks!! Thanks Paul!!
That's great. They really are easy to fix. Now be sure to remember this so they don't come back in the future.
Hi Paul.. About a month ago I played a couple rounds of golf and shanking came into those games.. I immediately watched this video...
I took your advice and
went to the driving range for 3 days..
I have no shanking problems anymore..
I tell all my golfing friends about you and your videos...
Many thanks...
Very good. I think we have all had them in the past. Glad I could get you out of them. Thank you for telling your friends. I appreciate it.
Great to hear! So simple to fix but can be scary if you get them.
Glad it helped. So simple to fix shanks. Got to know what to look for. Most is the set up. Please remember this into the future.
This is the only video I’ve seen on TH-cam that makes sense. There’s a logical reason why it happens and a logical solution to remedy the issue. I
Thank you!
Great to hear! This should fix you right up.
Thank you.
Well, I have been fixing shankers in minutes for years. Just got to get to the root of the problem. Glad you found me and end the shanks forever.
Nice work! Great feeling to get rid of the shanks. Please remember this into the future so they don't come back.

Glad you found me. Glad to help. Simple to fix. Now you can get your confidence back.
Phil 😎⛳
Very good. So simple to fix. Confidence is great.
Glad it helped. This tip has fixed hundred of shankers. Just keep it in mind every time you play so they don't come back.
Refreshing to see a real resolution and just “try not to hit your headcover”. Thanks.
I haven’t shanked one forever and started doing it with 8-pw today and then found this video thankfully
Glad you found it. You don't want these shots to continue into the future.
Keep at it.
Confidence was gone on Saturday, watched this video on Sunday….. practiced Sunday night, 68 scratch tonight. Thanks a lot 👍🏻⛳️
Great job! Glad you found this tip. Try to remember it for the future.
Great advice. I'm constantly trying to remember to stand taller on all my clubs. Everything's better when you're not leaning over.
Absolutely. Make this your last thought before taking the club back.
Very good. So glad you found me. Scary shot but simple to fix. Don't lose those notes.
I started working on the effortless swing today and after about 30 balls I started to feel it. You explain things in a way I can understand. I have never felt such pure shots. Thank you Paul.
Fantastic! This is telling you that you can do it. Keep going. You will never look back.

I've been playing golf since 1980. This is the first time I ever heard a rational explanation for the shank. Great stuff, Paul. Thanks.
Glad you found me. This will fix you for good in minutes. Give it a try and let us know how you do.
Now you have fixed the shanks stay focused on powering the swing with the legs and hips. You need to watch these:

Paul is incredible. When I have an issue with the swing I first, go to him. He's so clear and concise in getting to the route of the problem. I havn't shanked a ball is quite some time but when it happened it's paralysing. Listened to his video, went to the range the next day, followed his advise and, you guessed it, no more shanks. Thanks so much Paul. You are the Man!
Thanks for the support. Glad you found me. Shanking isn't fun but it's easy to fix. Been fixing shankers in minutes for 32 years.
I'm 6'3",and I have the shanks BAD !!! can't wait to give those drills a try.👍👍
You can do it! So simple to fix.
You’ve changed my game. From now on you are the only person on TH-cam I will take golf advice from.
So glad you found me. Not fun when you get the shanks but as you see they are easy to fix. Stay focused so they don't come back in the future.
You’re a hero for this video. 🙏
Thanks. So simple to fix these shots.
Very good. Not fun when you are shanking it but it's easy to fix.
Totally worked. Thank you so much! I’m 6’7” and was doing exactly the opposite of what you are teaching. Bending over to get closer to the ball, wrong! Watched the video, went to my practice net and stopped shanking immediately!
Great job! Glad you found me. Tall guys just always want to get too low. Try to remember this for the future so they don't come back.
Same here! Feels so good to get rid of them
Playing the best golf in my life and then caught the shanks so bad I was ready to quit the game. Thank you Paul! This video made perfect sense and cured me.
Glad to help. No fun when you get the shanks. Now you can get your confidence back.
Paul your videos are so simple , this is brilliant. Thank you 👍🏌️♀️⛳️
Glad you think so! Simple is the key for sure.
I watched yr video about stand tall with the short iron and liked the simplicity
Next day I hit 100 plus 50 to 60yd pitches and no shank.
Good man I'll tune in to your other vids for driving and longer irons next
Regards
Dan
Shanking is so easy to fix. Glad you found this one. Now you can start getting your confidence back.
Your explanations are amazing! You are changing my game!!!!
Happy to hear that!
So, I play pitch and putt (holes max 70 yards) and had reached the point of utter despair and giving up... then I saw this video yesterday...went out and hit 4 consecutive 50 yard pitches all within 6 feet! I had thought I had tried everything but Paul's piece really is spot on. Thank you!
Very good. So simple to fix. Not fun when you get them though. Try to remember this for the future so they don't come back.
This was really helpful. Had my best/most consistent range session after applying. Putting the weight down from the laces was a big one!!
Exactly. So simple to fix. Glad you found me.
6’3 and needed to see this today! Cheers
Yes, you definitely have to do this.
Very good. I keep saying shanking is easy to fix. You are proof. Now you can get your confidence back.
You have a very reassuring approach. I’m going to take your advice onto the range now. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
He literally described everything I went through mentally and physically with my shanking problem. Huge thanks!
Glad you found me. Easy to fix. Try to remember it for the future.
Great vid ...Also, during the downswing, I try to feel the centrifugal force pull the clubhead along the circumference of the arc (to keep me off my toes and stay centered) ...keep the faith bro !!
That is always a good thought. Can't stretch your arms out more than they can stretch out.
Sound advice, been playing with a shank for the last 3 weeks. I played today using your advice and had the best round of golf for weeks with no shanks. Thanks for the video 👍
Great to hear! Shanks are not fun. Please remember this tip into the future.
Glad you like them. Thanks. That would be arms which is leaning you forward. So turn to not hit with arms would work.
Oh my goodness I could cry. 😭😭😭
I don’t remember my last round without a single shank until I watched this.
That's great. Not fun shanking it. Now you know how simple it is to fix. Please remember it. Then you will get your confidence and game back.
Just wanted to say this video was a life safer. developed the shanks seemingly out of nowhere and had a "big" round scheduled with some friends I hadn't seen in a while. this fixed me right up. fantastic stuff.
So glad you found it and it helped you out.
Only ever shanked a wedge. Never knew why until now
Yes, this is the cause. Never shank again.
Hey Paul,
Starting shanking my irons almost two years ago.
Good job.
I fixed the shank in literally 5 shots on the driving range with this video. Thank you so much!
Very good. Not fun when you are shanking it but as you can it's easy to fix. Just remember to keep checking it into the future.
Started shanking the ball and had no idea why. I watched your video and just kept my weight back and I stopped. It was so simple but I really didn't know what I was doing. Thanks so much.
Glad you found me and tried it. Super easy to fix. Just remember it for the future. We don't want them ever coming back.
Wow, I am speechless. I’m so glad I ran into this video. I was getting so frustrated because I couldn’t figure out what the issue was. The fix was so simple! I’m hitting my wedges pure now!
Glad you found me. Try to remember it for the future.
Thank you 🙏
Glad you liked it. I keep everything simple for sure.
i cannot thank you enough.
You're welcome. Scary shot but easy to fix. You've got this. Loosen up and stop hitting with the arms too. Good luck.
@@paulwilsongolf thank you so much! 😊
Makes so much sense, I've been struggling with shanks for a few weeks, after watching your video, it's given me confidence already ... I'm off to practice, Sincere thanks for your commonsense approach... 💡
Glad you found me. I have literally helped hundreds of shankers. Keep it simple. You've got this. Remember it for the future.
Glad it helped. Easy to fix. Please remember it for the future so they never come back.
Greatest solution I’ve ever heard. Simple yet reliable. Thank you.
Thanks. Glad it helped. Simple to fix and remember into the future.
This is the best tip for fixing the shanks. I’m surprised more teaching professional haven’t figured out this simple remedy.
Thank you Paul Wilson.
Glad it helped! Not fun when you get the shanks but as you see they are easy to fix. Stay focused on this into the future so they never come back.
Spot on, best breakdown I've ever heard, trying this entire swing tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.
Very good. Just as I said. Stay focused so they never come back in the future.
I seem to get the shanks once or twice a year. Had them two rounds ago. Was very nervous to play yesterday. Kept the thought of standing up straighter, no shanks. Thank you sir for this video !
So glad you found me. Shanks are scary but simple to fix.
Wow, excellent advice. I was shanking everything yesterday at the simulator. I can’t wait to see if this cures me.
So glad you found me. Not fun when you get the shanks. Glad I could get you back on track.
So glad you found me. Now you can get some confidence back and start enjoying the game again. So simple to fix.
Hands down the best golf instructional video on the planet!!! Thank you!!!!
Thanks so much. I appreciate the support.
