Cool install on these *_n-o-w_*_ old Mopar trucks_ . Cheap "stainless" eBay headers here & used Reflex graphite #6004 gaskets, Stage 8 locking header stainless bolts&hardware, dumped sparkplug heat shields & got hi-temp boot covers, used non-water use header wrap with stainless hose clamps. RAM 2nd gen. truck no need to remove front tire. Good video!
One of the best dakota RT channels. I have learned so much. Recently picked up. 99 RT, intense blue 🤘. Been looking for a truck like this for years. Basically the same truck my dad had growing up.
On a 4X4 I think it would have fit fine. Just it being 2 wheel with the A arms I think got in the way. With the 4X4 upper and lower control arms I think it would fit pretty good
Saw your video about those cheap Ebay headers. I too had encounter that same problem on my Durango. I later found someone online that had those same Gibson headers for sale & so I went with those. They were a perfect fit, no issues at all. But I did use Stage 8 bolts for the headers. They will never back off. Look them up. I later did sell those cheap headers at a local swap meet.

i got my all stock quad cab to 14.9 quarter mile with a 50mm throttle body, 1.7 roller rockers, 2.4 JBA midpipe, magnaflow high flow cat, black widow venom 250, K&N box filter, toyo 255/45R17 and superchips tune with 2 degrees of timing added.
Any suggestions for a temporary solution that doesn’t break the bank on a set of headers? We’re the eBay headers completely jacked? If a guy was proficient in welding could they have been “tweaked” for better fitment ?

Anyone who does this, fabricate a heat shield for the rear passenger upper control arm bushing. The header will cook that bushing.. found out the hard way..and those plugs won't come out without loosing the headers
Ive had two sets of those same headers, they wont fit, but you only need to cut the exhaust in one spot and reclamp it to make them work, kind of funny that they made them wrong though, but the build quality is actually impressive
I'm gonna find out today if the ebay ones fit an 02 Durango R/T . . . The dakotas always ride a little low, I'm wondering if the Durango's height will allow clearance.

I might not get a responf but what company did you use. I cant find any long tubes. Nobody has anything for the ram. I have 97 with a 5.2. Are they the pacesetter lpng tibe? Chinese knock off? Summit racing? Any body knows if i can get the summit racing headers for the small block LA to fit into the truck ? Any modification?
Ooo I'd love to see how you would do the two turbo's. Bummer the cheap headers didn't work out. mine fit perfectly on my Durango, but Gibson headers are way better anyway.
Sorry you had a problem with your shorty headers...maybe I got lucky and got a better brand. Mine seemed super well made for China. Maybe I got a demo set..Paid 130 for them..Ive had domestic headers for years but the quality of the welds and the finish grinding was superior. The flanges were thick and straight. My only issue was gaskets. The included ones were useless and aftermarket header gaskets were little better. I found that stock early LA gaskets were perfect..you suggested I ditch them but they have worked very well for me. My muffin guy bent a set of 2.25 pipes eliminating the y pipe and snaked two pipes down the rt side into a dual inlet/outlet Flowmaster 40.Splits into 3 inch ends exiting each side.
Good video, like the Gibson headers. I am already running jba headers, I am sure someone could cut and tig weld those eBay headers and make them work. Don’t have any idea how long they will last in the long run, for 80 bucks not sure if they are any type of stainless steel

The ebay headers are a knock off of the equal length Headman Headers. I have them on my SS/T ram. The headman header version fit flawlessly. I bought my set back in the mid 90's. I don't think headman makes theirs anymore. Although the ebays look identical, I'm sure not the same in quality.
There most be someone that lives to go around and give thumbs down on good videos. I would Love to put but long tube headers on my Ram 1500 but I'm going to be buying a 135I project car. Maybe you can give me some advice on upgrades? :) Did you get a hold of the ebay seller to try to return the failed shorties? The gibson headers look nice.
I think 90% of the current Dakota owners that watch your videos warned you against ebay headers...the ONLY thing they are good for is flipping them for turbo application.
You're absolutely right, if theres any advantage over manifolds it is minimal, even well ported long tube headers give only a slight advantage hp-wise. But it is one of more cost effective mods you can do before buying pricier internals. Although 360 parts arent too expensive compared to the price gouging that's occurring with the GM LS series lately.
@@PedroMartinez-hw6uy Unfortunately in order to make horsepower anywhere near an LS in the 450hp range your going to spend about $3500 in parts for the Magnum, assuming you already have the 360 block ... Given how much bigger a Ram is than a Dakota, I think you could almost fit a set of zoomies in your engine bay! Much easier fitment.

I'm getting ready to do the same 98 5.9 Magnum, cam, heads and full dual exhaust, thinking 70 series flowmasters and 3" pipes... Should be fun

Maybe shot motor mounts? Engine could be sitting a little lower on passenger side (where engine twist towards to when under load)

The bolts are also torque to yield
Not sure if it makes a difference but I have the exact same setup with a carb swap in a 2000 Dakota, but running a 2001 Ram 2500 magnum 5.9l

I highly recommend leaving those heat shields in the motor, i took them out and melted a few of my wires with stock manifolds

Did you get any ticking noise from the engine?
Sometimes you can loosen up the engine mounts to help "wiggle" the bolts in. But if you've already put new mounts, it might be a fight.

nice but i wouldve stay the heck away from ebay headers. I bought an ebay exhaust manifold for my F22 accord and it cracked within a year. Sad.

I just resto'd my 96 5.2 and there wasn't any upper control arm bushings left. Never would have known it, the truck drove perfectly and handled great.
