    Guy you need to pour yourself a 12 ft x 18 ft concrete pad with a carport tight roof over the top of it so you’ll have a nice little smooth place to work on your tractors or equipment and stay out of the rain and the snow.
    Could maybe run power and air lines to the slab so you could be able to blow every off thing and have power for lights and power equipment. Maybe put side walls with glass panels on two sides to keep the weather out.

    Guy, your troubleshooting skills never cease to amaze me. I enjoy turning wrenches myself as a hobby, but my knowledge ends on anything built past 1985. I really enjoy your videos andI wish that I lived closer (I am in Virginia) to give you a hand from time to time. Jeff R. From GTT....

    Yes, electrical issues can be a nightmare! Glad you found it relatively easily. It is too bad the newer stuff has so many wires, it's great while it works but when it fails watch out.

    From the videos I've been watching, you are more than capable to fix anything that comes up. Only you know if you did the right thing by buying the tractor sight unseen. Your positive attitude is refreshing.

    man I feel bad for you going through all this with this tractor. its not easy to buy a tractor these days you never know what your getting or what you may be in for. I hope you get the bugs out and it gives you many years of trouble free service.

    I have just rebuild a 2010 Claas Arion 510, has a premium JD engine 4045 PowerTech 115HP common rail, had hole in the radiator, now runs perfect, I am impressed with this tractor there is about 300mm clearance between cab and entire length of transmission, so plenty of room to fix things and wash the dirt off everything, best tractor I have ever driven, looking at your NH the build quality is something to be desired.

    I would have like for you to have said how long you spent chasing wires before you found the wires that were shorting out to one another.
    I have done a lot of electrical work over the years, mostly automotive, and the time can be overwhelming that it takes to find the issue. This has only gotten worse in my opinion as more and more sensors have been added. It could be a real pain back when the wiring was pretty simple compared to modern vehicles. Now it is a nightmare as voltage can be anywhere on the chart from 12 volts to very low voltage from a computer.
    Yes I am old enough that i have chased and found wiring problems with a test light. Those days are gone.

    my '97 bobcat 853 has this problem. all the wires for the toggle switches in both joysticks are rubbing against everything causing shorts because the factory never used wire loom to secure them. they're just flopp'en in the wind. dealership told me they don't waist time trying to find the short they just replace it with all new wires. john deere 7000 series tractors were like that with the steering & remote hoses going up to the valve control on the firewall all zip tied together in a big bundle so they all wear against each other. sooooooo hard to get a wrench up in there.

  • @fowletm1992

    just remenber 3pl is only a one way cylender
    so it only powers up and requires graverty to go down
    so they seize easy as
    here in aus there is very little use for 3pl
    so usually when we get a tractor and want to use it we are the first from the factory
    sometimes we get violent enough we wil put the 3pl switch in lower and use thr tele handler to push the arms down
    a bit of extra grease and they work fine

    Reminds me of wiring on old John Deere combine we had - a 65, I think. I agree with others and pad and Carport at the very least for those cold weather repairs, or a pole barn with a furnace. No need if you have a tractor that behaves, but you have a tractor that is well used and needs lots of care to keep it running right. That equals a shop...

      Yep! You are right. It took my dad 7 years to earn enough extra cash to put up a machine shed. Then it took two months for my brother and I as older teens to construct it. I remember my dad doing work on the tractors and combines by using tarps to block the cold and snow. Now days space heaters can make the worst jobs tolerable in the worst winters. And we farmed in Northern Alberta, so it was cold...

    Hopefully your wiring issue is that alone. In ways, I wonder if there is a wiring issue controlling your valves for the 3pt lift and lower that have the same problem. At least it didn't get to fuse burning level. In ways I would have like to have gotten a brief description on how you found the wires. Testing sections of harness at connectors or just visual inspection... Helps jog the mind how to approach similar issues on my own projects. Thanks for sharing what you have done so far and looking forward to the upcoming injection pump timing video.
    Quick question, likelihood of being able to change a seal where the throttle linkage shaft enters the injection pump without messing something else up? Old Kubota.

    • @willemstreutgers1154
      @willemstreutgers1154 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      For your wiring there is a sort of varnish/glue which can be used to seal the damaged wires from corrosion. Much better than tape.

    • @Sicktrickintuner
      @Sicktrickintuner 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Id be using shrink tube with the intigrated glue in it that seals it all.
      I use it on all solder connections

    • @willemstreutgers1154
      @willemstreutgers1154 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too, but when only the isolation is damaged one can use the varnish/glue type.

  • @mattferguson1792
    @mattferguson1792 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hey Guy, we have the same tractor and are having a similar issue and trying to track it down. It began with the shifter hopping through gears intermittently while showing it was in the gear selected and steadily got worse where it was hard to do any work with it. Usually goes up into a higher gear than what is needed for the task at hand. Then it became hard to start at the key switch and had to fiddle with the direction switch and steering wheel to start. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. Lights on the dash- 4x4 shows always being on and temp stopped working. Then we tried the Pto... And now that doesn't work. traced wires, checked grounds, fuses, etc. Everything SEEMS to be okay. So then we tried another instrument cluster/dash with the same result. Just put on a new alternator per the dealers suggestion. Same outcome. We're beating our heads against the wall. Thinking maybe the ECU/ECM? Any advice? Thanks

    The timing is indeed hard to set on that application. When setting the engine up to be timed turn the engine in Direction of Rotation to eliminate any slack in the gear train. The tool to time the injection pump is virtually the same as the old VW diesel. Personally I would mark the IP housing and just advance the timing by moving the pump just a few degrees and tighten the pump down and try it out. Don't do it running! Most factory specs for timing are set on the retarded side for emissions, bumping the timing up will help. Need to hear the engine running.
