    Chris Potter is watching Eldar during his whole solo, and shakes his head at 7:06. I think that's about the highest praise a jazz musician can get, especially one who was 25 at the time.

    5:59 Sounds like something Benny Green would play. He played a very similar line (also in both hands) on his record version of Celia

    Sounds like Coltrane! Even faster. Djangirov has touches of Tyner too.

      Don't really agree with that trane comment when it comes to tone or lines.

    • @johnlindstrom9994
      @johnlindstrom9994 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @@kennyr1161 What I meant was "fast and furious" plus somewhat apocalyptic. Coltrane had "sheets of sound." Potter definitely springs from Coltrane.

      @@kennyr1161 3:04 str8 up sounds like a Trane line to me! I'm sure Chris would admit to a very strong Coltrane influence. He's mentioned him and Rollins as being two of his biggest influences on tenor. Of course, by the time of this concert he was already a master of the craft and had adapted those influences to his own concept.
