Spot on. I think that’s the description of all masters. We can learn the language, the feel, how to emote, how to listen, how to react, how to swing, and how to build but to be able to do that all consistently at the highest level takes talent and hard work.
This is a prove, that the best era of jazz music isn't over yet. Jazz music is still alive, fresh, and great. This is a perfect example, that unforgeable recordings are still possible to be made. Thank you guys for opening your souls and wisdom to us 🙏
I can’t hold back, I must write this out. I almost cried. They obviously are both unbelievably gifted, although Shai Maestro shocked me on a whole new level. I’m speechless.
Pinny Ostreicher this is truly one of the absolute greatest recordings of a jazz ballad in all of history, and I doubt anyone could change my mind. It competes with the best of the best, such as the miles Davis recording of 'it never crossed my mind.'
@@cjgreen4331 did you like it? I find it's somewhat of a personal thing, but there's just some people who get it and some who don't, and that's okay. So much intimacy between the piano and saxophone as a duo, you can hear both instruments connect with one another like a marriage. Unbelievable playing from two fine musicians, i would love to see an album with Shai Maestro and Chris Potter one day, i think it would be amazing.

and the way Shai just stomps on those whole note chords just is so critical after the varying rhythmic choices made by both! after all of the beautiful chaos they’ve created they now arrive back to familiar grounds. It’s just so powerful when they go back into the head like that.
Both ”Artful” and full of spontanious energy. No wonder with so much talent. Maestro lay down a new interesting path and Potter enjoy and take care of elements as only he can do. 🙏🏻

Fantastic, so true and unrestrained, complete freedom, story of the world within one song... I'm amazed... When I heard Shai years ago for the first time I felt there is something special about him. Thank you sir Maestro!
