Absolutely insane. This is the best performance of donna lee i've ever heard. The way this guy makes every single note sound so clean and crisp whilst playing at a million miles per hour is unbelievable.
I would've threw something at his head, walked up to the piano and told everyone go home and they don' deserve this level of genius. Eldar never fails. Top 5 !!!!
I'm listening to this just after hearing of today's passing of Chick Corea, and despite the crushing magnitude of that loss, I'm feeling like the magic WILL continue. Thank you, Gentlemen.
Usually I'm not that much into this heavy Bebop stuff. But this feels like heaven! To take those long known lines and scales to such a level of creativity (and speed) is just crazy. Really outstanding!
This audience had no concept of the brilliant genius that just played for them. Eldar is a one-man hurricane with chops forever and technique. Russian pianism meets Kansas City Jazz, he is one of the most formidable jazz pianists on the planet. I love hearing him on recordings as well as in live performance. Brilliant, and I was there when he played dueling pianos with Taylor Eigsti at Piedmont Piano a few years back. Unbelievable piano playing !!! Magnificent !! Bravo, Eldar !!!!
C'mon, give them a break. They were there, they could have stayed home. Many of them may have heard lots of great jazz in their lives and wanted to be fully present. I think whooping and hollering is silly and also disrespectful to the people who want to hear every note, not to mention the musicians who are concentrating so hard.
That was Oscar Peterson on speed! There are numerous things to be completely amazed about when it comes to Eldar's playing, but what consistently blows me away almost every time is his absolutely unwavering sense of time. When he had that dual meter thing going on... give me a break!
blacknight39 OK OK, wasn't necessarily trying to draw a comparison with Oscar. Lol (even though I did mention his name LOL)That man is a freak. But, that doesn't take anything away from Eldar. He can surely stand with the best of 'em !
+blacknight39 Of course Eldar doesn't "swing" like OP. Nobody really "swings" these days. Swinging was the thang in Oscar's time, but it's a new era (for better or worse) and the swing thing is in the past, like Be Bop - even though that's what I love best...but that's because I'm an older man. Technically, though, OP had nothing on this Eldar kid. Both are/were incredibly gifted. Listen to Barry Harris do this number in that hard Bop style. He swings the hell out of that song, though he has no where near the wizardry of this kid. Nevertheless, I can appreciate both what Barry Harris does on this number and what Eldar does. But Art Tatum is still the 20th century god of the piano, and come to think of it, he didn't really "swing" that much himself - being more of a bridge between the stride and be bop eras.
I was just shooting from the hip 'cause I was so in awe regarding his playing and technique. Wasn't trying to lower Oscar, only elevate Eldar. He just blows me away.
Had the pleasure of being on a jazz cruise and saw him several times in a seven day span. It was truly a musical experience!!!! Will never forget that week.
Eldar's not only a genius with great technique, he conveys a broadly diversified sense of musical feeling which exhibits passion, beauty and burning intensity. The solo development here contains many surprises and demonstrates a deep respect for jazz history by incorporating elements of stride piano, mainstream bebop and hard bop. And he does so seamlessly with plenty of space... but absolutely no gaps.
I love Eldar's rendition! Truly awesome, and all the dudes brought their A-game. Thank you for the great performance! I really love how he made the piece smolder at the beginning: you could tell even better things were coming after the intro...
Greetings. I was introduced to you about 20 years ago by a drummer who knew music. You were a breath of fresh air early on. Four years ago, I saw Chris Botti in Tucson, and there you were. I hope the music industry is treating you well. Your technique is impeccable and inspiring. The love of playing shines through. Peace and blessing to you and your family. I hope everyone you love is safe.
I wanted to thank everybody here for tuning in and listening! I'm especially happy to hear that the music connected with you!
+Eldar Djangirov When do you come to England?
+Eldar Djangirov It's beautiful!! :) Way to go!
Eldar Djangirov b,,
thanks you
lightenin this cold world
Hopefully soon!
How the crowd can remain so calm ? I would be like WTF :)
"Kids these days with their jazz shredding, buncha degenerate showoffs" (unaware of course that their generation did it first)

when he's playing so good you gotta attack him and clear the venue 😭
Can't believe no one clapped for the Intro nor the Piano Solo... WTF! Killing solo Eldar!
Unbelievable.
People was too mesmerized to clap 👏👏👏
I wish music like this was more acknowledged and popular
It’s amazing what passes for music these days
it will never be, music will continue to decline 😭
4:18 How the hell did the sound engineer extract such an authentic sound using just overheads and kick mic????!! It's mind-blowing!
ikr?
common practice in jazz. still amazing, though
That's all you need. That's how it was always done back then before people thought more mics = better.
Interesting, but it depends on the place acoustics. 🎉❤
Thank the drummer.
3:44 Ami11, Abmi11, Gmi11, F# mi11 then back in!! So dope!!!
Yeah, love that shit.
I had to rewind that 3 times when I heard it, absolutely brilliant
@@UkuleleAversion is that you Charlie? ;-)
@@chrrev1 I wish, my cat is called Charlie though

that 5/4 ending on the ellington ending was sick lol

Эльдар, ты поцелованный богом музыкант. Ваша команда просто великолепная. Браво!!!
Honestly I think this is my favorite Donna Lee, unbelievable wish I could watched this live
0:00 to 6:45 is the best part
My man got that left hand working, don't he? That opening piano solo was well-worth the visit I was fortunate enough to take here. Great trio work.
His taceting left hand from 2:42 to 3:13 does more work in 31 seconds than both my hands in a three hour gig. LoL

Guy in back drops his phone at 4:05 :)
0:45 even the bassist is really feeling it man.
"JAZZ IS ALIVE! !" Elgar and trio, you guys are awesome.....
Eddie Grey "Elgar and trio," Now that would be REALLY interesting....!
Super!!!
Wow - Eldar, you are insanely good. Congratulations on achieving this outstanding level of ability! I know how much work goes into it.
Terence Koo thank you for the positive comment - I appreciate it!
Dude. This was SO good. One of the best "Donna Lee" performances I've heard.

Yes, saxophone - 35 yrs or so. Absolutely love jazz!
This is sick... I'm speachless...
speechless *
3:44 totally out in the universe
What did you expect dude. He is an alien. He came to challenge us and test us.
ChrisLeePiano no still playing the progression overall. Just a little push to the left.
Drummer: what tempo would you like to go
Eldar: "yes"
Eldar you are ridiculous. incredible playing wish i could be like you
Well, that's another tune I'll never play again.
Come on!!!!!! 👍
play it differently. You don't have to run all those scales, you can think melodically. Melodically? OH NO, heresy!
Grinned the whole time!
I strive to perform like this
Me as well
I think this is one of the most brilliant recordings I've ever heard, perfect sound and a perfect performance by this band.
I so agree. I come back to it every few months. It's been years

Jesus Christ this is mind blowing.
Truly one of the greats, phenomenal 😮 was lucky to have a lesson with him in 2013. Wisdom, hard work, personified
Praise the Lord, didn't know bebop could make me emotional. That was so good!
All these guys play very clean. Very precise timing.
Thank you for your comment. Your observation is very keen - timing/phrasing is certainly a crucial musical component. Thanks for listening!
Just a blur of sheer brilliance...
Very very nice Eldar❤👍
This man is a genius...Wooww!!!! I don't what time i'll watch this....
Thanks for the miracles!
