Just bought one yesterday with blue dials. Great watch and does match my 1985 aircooled 911. Retro is real!

This watch looks awesome. I absolutely love when watch brands embrace the 70's designs. So damn cool.

Tissot has been coming out with bangers! This, the Telemeter 1938, the Visodate, anything PRX. They're going to attract a lot of young, new watch enthusiasts.

Tissot are killing it at the moment with these retro chronos. The Tissot PR516 is also a great looking piece.

I picked up the blue face re-edition (not limited) recently for ~US$2000. I couldn't be happier with it. It improves the power reserve to 60 hours and the winding weight is silver and shaped to look like the iconic rims of 1970s race cars. It's a tremendous watch for the price; one that I'll probably keep for the rest of my life.

I do love 70s retro watches and appreciate how much value / quality Tissot brings. Unfortunately I have 6.5 wrist , so will just stick to my Tissot Visodate on a milanese bracelet.

Gorgeous execution with loads of details for a fair price. I might have to pick one up.

Great review... I bought the non-limited panda. It's indeed a big watch, but it has a soft feeling on the wrist. It's not aggressive in any way. The movement is well decorated and the detailed finishing on the dial is really top-notch. Great that it gets a bit more attention...

Purchased PRS516 chronograph last year from grey market for about $800; case size is large for my wrist and chunky, but couldn't turn down $800 for Valjoux 7753; makes a good casual wear.

Love that case shape, gorgeous watch! Old enough to remember the 70s, Barry Sheene, Evel Kneivel, happy days. Cheers Bruce 👍🏻👍🏻

Nice one Bruce, that's one attractive looking retro Tissot chronograph. I like that all the chrono hands are orange so you know at a glance exactly what the timer interval is. My old Omega SM300 Chrono (previous version now discontinued) did the same with all chrono hands in red and also had all hands lumed. That watch shares the same base Valjoux 7753 movement but with the coaxial escapement and a column wheel. The price for this Tissot in comparison is a total bargain, a panda dial, white eggshell dial, it just does it. The function pusher for the date change is not an issue for me either, my Omega has the same. The display case back is the icing on the cake as for once we get to see that Valjoux movement in all the glory.

Excellent review! I have been a Swatch/Swatch Group custmer since the 80's.I have owned many 7750's. Great company and a great movement. I came very close to buying this watch, but I own home within walking distance of the Pacific Ocean and have a doggie. Not the best combo. Beautiful watch. Also, I have seen Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones live. Was not hold enough to see them at Winterland SF.

The issue is how much watch we reasonably need as contrasted with how much watch we crave. Many of us lament the upward surge in watch prices and then we totally ignore some very nice ETA powered chronograph value propositions offered by Swatch through Tissot, Hamilton and Longines. I agree that the display back makes the Tissot more enjoyable than say the Longines Heritage pieces with solid backs.

I’ve got 2 Chronographs from Hamilton. The Pan Europ Chronograph and the Hamilton Khaki khaki Pilot Chronograph. Picked them up for around $650 usd. used like new full sets. These would be great for reviews.

Have a lower end Tissot Chronography, too big and heavy, no Valjoux movement, I think it's a bit big and heavy and no running seconds. Found some decent Alpina's for less and wear great. Tissot is swatch, which means they have a ton of movements they can use from the parts bin. Have the newer Hamilton no date manual wind Panda chrono, actually like it not having a date and comes with a great watch brand, also good discounts from the AD. Love the strap on that watch, at one time I cared about open case backs then I do know. Nice to have better not a deal breaker. Bought a pre owned Big Eye a few years back love the look and feel, was like new full kit and about the same price which your friends Tissot, even had a balance on the warranty from Longines. Wearing a Damasko DA42 which I bought from Marc at LIW. with an eta movement. I seen it went up like $115 since I bought it this past spring.

Hi time collectors, I have a question about these Tissot watch brands? Is it true that Tissot watch mechanisms are producing in China 🇨🇳
How can I be sure that Tissot is 100% Swiss made watch?
Is it still worth to buy Heritage 1973?

    • @jowyl100
      @jowyl100 ปีที่แล้ว

There's a watchmakers guild in Switzerland that states that no Swiss manufacturer can write swiss made on their watch unless the movement and majority of the research and development and cost incurred is done in Switzerland. So I think its worth it.

  • @7rslender

I think the Swatch Group is a little bit lazy here.
They could have put better lume on this Chrono. There is no, absolutely NO excuse for not doing this.
Then the quick set date "button" at 10' o clock. Changing a 7750 to get a tri-compax layout but you can't change the date with the crown? Common!
Since when does the Swatch Group need a lesson from a little brand like Guinand ... who actually can do this?
Besides that, a really nice looking watch that reminds me of the Lemania powered Tissots of the 70s.
