Suleiman didnt. Selim acted on his own accord so there was noone in his way to ascend to the throne. Two people that didnt deserve the titles were Selim and Nurbanu in my opinion. Both would do anything to anyone to climb to the top.

That is why in my opinion Kosem was much better. She struggled worser times and in real history she never wanted her children to die, but as a woman, it was impossible for her to have full control. Suleyman lost his minds in power. Ordering the killing of two children is the worse sin. And when you think that their religion was allowing them. Hurrem provoked the death of Mustafa but it came back as a boomerang against her own child. I wish she was still alive to feel the pain. Ottoman history is so tragic and when ai think they had the base in religious beliefs, frightens me. What kind of god would allow the killing of a son or brother? Tragic times.
