It is ironic for Mahidevron character to give such a speech, considering her behavior due to her jealousy over Hurrem. She attempted to poison Hurrem, stole a ring, beat her to a pulp. In real life, there was (I believe) 1 actual attack on Hurrem by Mahidevron, but the rest is fictional Also, the real Hurrem I believe was rather petite, not the tall, imposing character portrayed.
Hurrem or Mahidevran: who is evil? So. In the fandom there is always team Hurrem and a very few people who stands for Mahidevran.. lets analyze the situation in an objective point of view. Before the series, Mahi lived at Manisa and everyone loved her. Not the first woman who gave Suleiman a child, but she was generous, elegant and all... everything was perfect for her. Then Selim 1st died, her man became the sultan of a worldwide empire. She had to come to the capital and must felt very excited to move in a even more magnificent life, but she immediately saw that she was better at Manisa. First of all, Hafsa publicly scolded her for little Mustafa's sayings, and then Gulfem come to her and bragged about the Sultan having festivities in his room with many others women instead of spending time with her. Last but not least...THE woman appeared. I don't know if Suleiman touched other women than Mahi at Manisa, but the latter immediately felt that Alexandra would not be just a one night stand. Suleiman called her, but after what Valide heard by Daye's eavesdrop, she prevented it but Suleiman called Alex the next night and kept her with him for the famous Thursday night. Then she understood that she was not the number one in his heart anymore. Suleiman NEVER touched her after that, even in the few nights when he feign calling her, and it wasnt like she could move and build her life somewhere else with another man. So there she was, sentenced to see the only man who could ever touch her giving everything to another woman till death. Tragic story, yes. But there is still things that prevent me to feel bad for her. First of all: her cruelty. Yes, Hurrem was arrogant and rude towards her while she was still a childless concubine. But she hadnt done anything yet who deserve to be killed, and Mahidevran was still totally comfortable with almost beating her to death and poison her while she was PREGNANT. Her cowardice/hypocrisy is annoying too: whatever mistake she does, she ALWAYS run to Hafsa or Pargali's skirts, to complain or cover her. The most blatant example is when she cries in her room after Suleiman made her apologize to Hurrem, she lies to Mustafa about how it happened, then she ran to Hafsa because of her son reaction.. Also when Suleiman almost died and she was near from the Valide fonction. If so, then she would be rid of the man who neglected her along with Hurrem and her kids, it is understandable that she wasnt sad. But when he woke up, she pretended to be relieved and blamed Hurrem in front of the harem for Suleiman not letting her kiss his hand, even Hafsa saw her colours at this moment. And when Sultan made her the harem chief, she messed up with the harem expenses and the jewish merchant, got mad when the latter asked for her right, even Gulfem confronted her... Suleiman dismissed her and she ran to Ibrahim, begging again to cover her and his answer was soooo satisfying. This time, none of her mistakes had something to do with Hurrem. Proof if any was needed that even outside of her rivalry with her, Mahidevran is just an incompetent and untrustworthy fool. This also shows that if she was indeed an angel before her downfall, then Hurrem’s apparition didn’t change her: it just revealed her true colours. This is what Suleiman may understood since the begining. Does that means I root for Hurrem? Not really either. One of her favourite sentences"I didn't start the hostilities" is...innacurate. When she came to the palace, she was just shouting and asking for death. Then Nigar advised her and told that since she cant leave, she could gain power. Then, Alex seized her chance. But Daye heard her telling Maria that she would make the Sultan her slave and left before hearing her saying it was a joke and reported it to Hafsa. But even she tried, Suleiman got what he wanted as the emperor he is and during the festivities, she saw Hurrem, a new favorite disrespect Mahidevran, a mother prince and it was unacceptable. Then her son ignored her will and she kept hearing bad things about Hurrem, of course she would try to get rid of such a woman. Even before her first pregnancy, Hurrem was acting as if she owned the world and was arrogant towards everyone. The Gulnihal affair was very heinous cuz yes the girl liked the idea of having gifts and all like Hurrem, and what was she supposed to do if she was called? Then Hurrem whispered to her ear like a witch... Then her concern towards Mustafa. Thats right: if he ascended the throne, maybe he said he would never kill his siblings (and never say never, especially for power games) but his supporters would, maybe even behind his back especially Mahi. During Cihangir ceremony, Hurrem said to Mahi "thankfully i don't have the dynasty blood on my hands" but that sounded kinda hypocritical since she already tried to kill Mustafa many times... But her stans says "she was a poor girl who lost everything" so was Maria, Esma, and all the harem girls, yet none of them are as problematic as Alexandra. "She genuinely loves Suleiman!" And? Is that supposed to excuse all her wrongdoings? And personally, I don't see suicide or murder for love as a honorable/romantic thing at all. No matter the universe, context, or which character who does it. Seriously, how can so many people refuse to see what a terrible person she is? It’s not even like she tried to hide it! Just because of main character syndrome? If the show was on Mahidevran's point of view, many persons would see the truth. At the end of her life in the show, she was portrayed as an angel but her confrontation with Nurbanu is interesting cuz the latter had a point: Cécilia is exactly what Alexandra would have been if she met Suleiman as a prince with rival brothers.
Imo, they were both in the exact same situation. They both loved and wanted to protect their children and both wanted power to an extent. They were both willing to hurt the innocent to do so, Hurrem much more so. They were both hard-hearted when it came to it, but I feel sorry for Mahi because years of mistreatment hardened her. Hurrem suffered little compared to her but was crueler than her
The main probles is the lack of self-criticisism of Mahidevram. Both did horrible things (and both were self-centered and believed they owned the world). The difference is that Mahidevran was always telling that everything she suffered was Hurrem´s fault (she did not even recognised her own mistakes, only blame Hurrem for the bad things she experiences (many "bad experiences" were just the consecuences of her own actions). Blaming Hurrem for her Mustafas´s death (even thought it was true) but nor recognised that she was the one in the blame for Mehmet´s death is for me the last straw in her double-standard. And also, whe she said she forgave Hurrem for everything, she was saying it like she had nothing to be forgiven for...
I mean it’s an ugly and cruel game, yeah, but there was not many choices for harem women during that time to actually live well. None of them were angels, and I don’t think we approve everything any of them did, but I find it was quite a well written story (at most points). Two things that makes me like Hurrem more were 1. She actually cares about people of lower status (one that does not stand in her way obviously). And she kinda treated her servants pretty well, look at how she treated Sümbül, Nigar, and even Gülnihal ( I know what it was terrible when she poisoned the cloth and I’m say what she did was good, but if it was Mahi, I bet Gülnihal would probably get killed or thrown out. But would you ever see anyone else in the palace hugs a servant and treated them like a friend in these series? Probably not, not even Nurbanu) Even Mustafa doesn’t treat his servants that well. 2. She kept her children out her own dramas, like for real. All these Sulean’s Sultana sisters kept trying to pick on her for all their delusional reasons many times, she never even once used her children as a tool to get through it even when they pushed themselves into the situation like Mihrimah usually does, she would always keep her out of it. If you ask who’s the real evil here, I would seriously say the fratricide law, and those tatars that killed Hurrem’s family in the first episode. 😂
In this movie, l noticed that Hurrem's place was taken by another actress when she grows older, but Mahidvran still remain the same till old with some makeup of course. 16:53 ld, of with some makeup.
Hürrem was never really sorry. Everybody who knows she/he is going to die and has to stand before God becomes fearful. In Hürrem's place who k*lled so many people - even kids - I would be scared af too!
While plotting for mehmed didn't mahideveran knew she has only one son and she can loose her son as well and now how she plays like victim, just mahideveran things and there is hurrem all dignity❤
Mustafa would have executed all other brother anyways if he ascended the throne. Same goes for all ottomans, the brothers are all executed. Even if hureem had e 3 sons, even after Mustafa her sons would have had to kill one another. There was one king that broke the rule among ottomans and spared the life of his brother, Mustafa I, but he became insane due to constant fear of death- and lived as a prisoner in the royal household.
I wish they could have found a way to somehow be friends and support each other 😞 Maybe their sons would have still been alive. Maybe they could have changed the rules together. And one would be the sultan but all the other would have lived too, rich and peaceful.
We don't have the chance to see original Hurrem in her 50's make up. I impress how Suleyman really look in his 20s to 60's in just period of 4 years filming the whole series.
This last interaction between Hurrem and Mahidevran, especially the part where Mahidevran is talking with her servant afterwards reminds me of a quote made by Headmaster Albus Dumbledore during his last interaction with Harry in Deathly Hallows: Part 2. In the scene, he said “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love.” I would say that pretty much sums up Mahidevran pretty well in this case. That woman was simply beyond anyone’s help, as Dumbledore once said in a similar manner to Harry in the same scene regarding Voldemort.
Study the actual history. Suleiman was actually very horrible. He killwd more than his two sons. He killed many of his grandsons even an infant boy. At the end of the day these women were playing games with a man who killed many innocent people. Yes it was tradition to be ruthless and it was codified it to law. Never made it right.
It's funny how Mahidevran forgot how she plotted to kill Sehzade Mehmet. She did it first but Suleyman was the Magnificent responsible of all of that. Since he met with Hürrem he turned to a very unfair man even among his own children
Even worse: Mahidevran wanted Mustafa to be Sultan so that SHE could have the power and wealth. She would have used her son's position to kill Hurrem, Mustafa's siblings, and bankrupt the empire to have more dresses and jewels. And she calls Suleiman greedy? The absolute nerve. Mahidevran thinking she's wise and philosophical is downright laughable.
According to the real history sultan Suleiman killed mustapha cos he was really jealous of his son cos pple loved mustapha more than him and he didn’t want any1 to be better
No he didnt kill the şehzade mustafa because of that. In fact the death of mustafa was tragic accident because of slanders, it is not his father fault, the slanders were so big and there are false proofs and witnesses but no one knows it were false before the execution. The Sultan himself really love mustafa and he was his first choice, but with all the proofs and slanders at that time, he didnt have any choice but to follow the law of dynasty for traitors. It was not easy of being The Sultan of 3 continents where there is completely monarchy, any political mistake or bad news can cause civil wars and tear down the nation. You either burn your nation or citizens or burn your heart as a father to save your entire people. And Sultan Sulaiman carry this sadness until end of his life 🥺 If he killed his sons just because he jealous how can he be such a great ruler that cant control his anger, because he who cant control himself cant control a big nation. Dont compare him to a regular man that cant control his jealousy. He is the magnificent sultan
Anytime Sulieman was ill, Hurrem and her children prayed for him to survive. Mahidiveran would tell Hurrem how Mustafa was going to kill her and her children. Big difference indeed
14:20 you can see Mahi and Hurrem exchanging last nod, signalling: its okay, we left the past. Lets face the consequence, in the presence of God, at the Judgement Day.
She out lived all of them and then Hurrem's sons killed each other, then their descendants killed each other. If there is an afterlife, they had to witness it even though this law was something they could have changed by letting the empire go to the oldest surviving son. No longer would sons be in competition with each other and becoming sultan wouldn't mean life or death.
Hurrem know mahidevran mahidebran know hurrem each other the excelent life s5yle of hurrem can say forgive me mahidevran Mahidev also forgive they know what life is nice i Very nice series
Brillant and powerful acting on all parts! Despite the anger and pain, I'd like to think ultimately this was what they both needed for peace. Each knew the terrible things they had done, but at least are willing to forgive the other even if their emotions cannot fully feel it.

Mahidevran sure liked to make out like she was blameless and simply a mother wanting the best for her son. But in the series, that is not true, she was responsible for multiple deaths and a lot of suffering. She clung on to her sons power for her own reasons, not just for his benefit, even he despaired of her sometimes. She lied easily to those around her that trusted her. She poisoned her son against people as he grew up, he didn't know better than to not inherit his mothers fights. She was NOT some awesome woman, perfectly within her rights to badmouth others because she was blameless. But she oh so liked to try to project that she was. I liked that Hurrem didnt allow that in this video.

I totally agree.
Mahidevran. She never admitted it even now
I mean it’s an ugly and cruel game, yeah, but there was not many choices for harem women during that time to actually live well.
None of them were angels, and I don’t think we approve everything any of them did, but I find it was quite a well written story (at most points).
Two things that makes me like Hurrem more were
Probably not, not even Nurbanu)
Even Mustafa doesn’t treat his servants that well.
The main actress for hurrem became burnt out and quit the show that’s why
@@alakhrose9344Nope it was Ahmed and that too because of Kosem Sultan
When you realise mahidevran in real life never killed mehmed(he died of illness) but hurrem had direct involvement in killing of mahidevran's son
Bh she is the one who ceased that sickness for him to die 😢😢
Adevărat.Mahidervan e nevinovată.Hurrem a fost o nemernică.
@@ablepatrah2693 that was for drama, there's no proof she did in real life
@@iconicsolos1234 s😂😂😂still it’s ok
You didnt watch how they put first snakes and then late they poisoned his wound and all by mahidervan
I wish they could have found a way to somehow be friends and support each other 😞 Maybe their sons would have still been alive. Maybe they could have changed the rules together. And one would be the sultan but all the other would have lived too, rich and peaceful.
Peaceful and Muslim leaders don't mix well together 😂
Not at that time. The rule was when one gets to the throne he HAS to kill all his bothers even if they were babies.
The make up artist is talented she makes mahidevran and sulieman gets older
We don't have the chance to see original Hurrem in her 50's make up. I impress how Suleyman really look in his 20s to 60's in just period of 4 years filming the whole series.

This last interaction between Hurrem and Mahidevran, especially the part where Mahidevran is talking with her servant afterwards reminds me of a quote made by Headmaster Albus Dumbledore during his last interaction with Harry in Deathly Hallows: Part 2.
In the scene, he said “Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living, and, above all those who live without love.”
I would say that pretty much sums up Mahidevran pretty well in this case. That woman was simply beyond anyone’s help, as Dumbledore once said in a similar manner to Harry in the same scene regarding Voldemort.
if we thought about death and that we can die at any moment, then the desires for power and malice would disappear...
In reality no she didn't killed mehmet it was in drama
5:00 Mahidevran: My son must be sultan! Also Mahidevran: Suleyman bad because he wanted to keep being the sultan.
Huh
Even worse: Mahidevran wanted Mustafa to be Sultan so that SHE could have the power and wealth. She would have used her son's position to kill Hurrem, Mustafa's siblings, and bankrupt the empire to have more dresses and jewels. And she calls Suleiman greedy? The absolute nerve. Mahidevran thinking she's wise and philosophical is downright laughable.
dumb take
According to the real history sultan Suleiman killed mustapha cos he was really jealous of his son cos pple loved mustapha more than him and he didn’t want any1 to be better
for sure no woman was behind.
And Sultan Sulaiman carry this sadness until end of his life 🥺
If he killed his sons just because he jealous how can he be such a great ruler that cant control his anger, because he who cant control himself cant control a big nation. Dont compare him to a regular man that cant control his jealousy. He is the magnificent sultan
@abdulrauf2964 u make more sense
And mustafa deserves to be loved !
Was his evil woman who was selfish that killed and destroyed everyone just to get what she wants.
Only if Suleiman would give some emotional support to mahidrvran from the beginning.... everything would have still worked out
Exactly.
Even now mahidevil doesnt admit it. She got what she deserved in the end for all she done to the dynasty and mostly to mehmed.
She beat hurrem bcs she want to fight for her live but hurrem killed every women with suleyman?😂
@@yeesayaaina859mahidevran did it all
What?
Who's here again..
In history mahidevran never hurts anyone
Her scheming killed her son .. she knows the consequences and still proceeded , her stupid ego and jealousy killed mustafa
Mahidevran got to unload on Suleiman…good for her
Hurrem know mahidevran mahidebran know hurrem each other the excelent life s5yle of hurrem can say forgive me mahidevran
Mahidev also forgive they know what life is nice i
Very nice series
If mahideran nt selfish and greedy and jealous maybe they live a hapy life..when she teach mustafa in right way maybe mustafa not rebels.
Brillant and powerful acting on all parts! Despite the anger and pain, I'd like to think ultimately this was what they both needed for peace. Each knew the terrible things they had done, but at least are willing to forgive the other even if their emotions cannot fully feel it.
@14:09 Hurrem bows before Mahisevran 😮
Mahidevran love her son and Suleyman,Suleyman love Hurrem,Hurrem love money and power.Mustafa will be great sultan,Selim makes all turn down.
hurrem loved suleiman and her kids she didnt love money she didnt care for that but power yes because what she came from she needed it !!
Mustafa death is real downfall of Ottoman empire read history first salim is drunker and foolish king he was dead early when his child on teen age so his child didn't became good sultan Egypt greece jordan separated form Ottoman empire @aphroditearuba415
It is said that in true sense, children belong to mother only. This is why when father gets marry to the new woman, he becomes stranger with the earlier wife and children from her too.
True
Hurrem had no choice since Mustapha HAD to kill his brothers at the death of his father.
Still Mahidervan did not confess to killing Hurrems 1st born. Sad.
Definitely the injustice and wRONG killing of Prince MUSTAPHA WAS A SIN THAT ONLY ALLAH CAN FORGIVE EVEN THE HISTORY MOURNS HIS DEATH TILL TODAY😢.
Mahidevil is wrong. Valide sultan will leave with happiness and victorious, she got what she wanted from mahidevran. So all good.
Seems all of you forgot how Hurem tried to kill Mustafa , how she gave the concubine to poison Mustafa , Hurem is so full of evil . I hate her so much .
In reality, she had no choice since Mustapha would have been forced to kill her sons at the death of their father according to the law. Any mother would have done the same
I wonder if mahadevra ever took responsibility to her actions? She always blame other for what she did 😢
How did Hurem find out that she was going to die? How does she know?
its a drama not in real
She had cancer. They knew what it was even then. The body growing something that squeezed out all that was good ans necessary to keep living.

There is nothing to support from these two figures. Their behavior and manners are enough to be a lesson...that humans are always unable to restrain themselves from the throne which can even destroy their own family...😢😢😢
Either way if they did not mean it in their hearts then the fake forgiveness will hurt them
Greatest dialogue in the whole series
Hurrem wasn't alive enough to repeat the same line on Suleiman when he killed bayezid and his own grandsons who were literally innocent if not bayezid (selim as a prince has no power if suleiman doesn't give him orders)

She killed hurrems son. Hurrem killed hers. Theres no sin here
Their is sin here both are equally wrong
Seriously you say there's no sin?
Man, disbelievers can be so dangerous with their Godless thinking.
There is no sin here is just a saying to mean each wronged each other not talking about committing an offence punishable by God.Not everything is to be taken literarily.
I don’t think it works that way! Their sins don’t just cancel each other out.
