    I love how there's a solid reason to vote for bad policies if it's not *your* kingdom.
    Playing like a Warband dishonourable lord and joining every kingdom so you can plant absolutely awful policies like currency debasement - it's marvelous. It feels so real that everyone would vote to enrich themselves at the cost of destroying the kingdom's foundation with loyalty debuffs if you're influential and persuasive enough, and you can make it happen!
    Meanwhile, when your kingdom is just your clan, you can vote in all the king-friendly policies like Sacred Majesty with nobody to contest it. Policy abuse is fun.

      Yeah that can be frustrating. The best thing you can do it save up a big chunk of influence and then keep voting it over and over until they give up and it can pass. Most of time they give up after 3 - 4 votes lol Make sure you don't add influence to the vote until you're 100% sure it will pass. Your State Monopolies rundown reminded me of a recent development in my game. I took to the habit of buying workshops in towns I would then take over. I bought a workshop in a town I was going to take over and the ruler then mysteriously chose to have a pretty big army in the area despite being in the middle of a two front war. I cannot overstate how much I hate Derthert, lol. He put a 1,000 man death stack right in the area and ruined my plan for regional conquest. I don't even know how or where he got them from, because everything that made sense suggested he would be busier elsewhere. Top it off, he starts the war with my kingdom shortly after instead of the other way around. Absolute madness.

      They get my services free of charge, all I ask is that they bring more people in to view the videos once the game goes to full release :)
      Yeah I need to finish the Timur campaign soon, it's been dragging on too long. I think once I finish the kingdom guide I will work on the next couple episodes for that. The biggest issue is that those take 30 - 50 hours per episode and the views are 1/2 of what I get on a guide so I need to figure out an alternative after this one finishes up. I really enjoy doing them, but from a channel and business perspective it doesn't really make sense to keep doing them unless I cut back on the time investment (less editing).

    • @masterbaiting22
      @masterbaiting22 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Strat-Guides that's a shame they don't get the same views man, probly more to do with how good the guides are more than the play throughs not being popular. sometimes play through series are longer investments and get noticed by the algorithm later on and then people will go back and watch from the start. As much as I love the little story's at the beginning, if it takes you five hours to edit and film a 2 minute bit for sure cut back on that for a while. Either way great content and a super under appreciated channel, as soon as bannerlord is released your views should go up tenfold!

  • @jamoecw
    @jamoecw 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    one thing to keep in mind for things that give influence, it gives it to the AI to do stupid things, so the more you enact policies that give them influence the more you will need to override them, and that could also strain your relationship with them. basically influence gain if it gives it too freely to people in your kingdom is a bad thing and not a good thing.

    • @Strat-Guides
      @Strat-Guides  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I completely agree with this! In a lot of my campaigns I intentionally take negative influence policies because it's much cheaper to burn their influence that way than opposing votes (policy drain is 1:1 ratio their influence to burn yours) whereas voting you need anywhere to 1:3 up to 1:5 which can get very expensive!

      So I have not done extensive testing on that, but I do believe so. I tested same attack speed weapons in the same category before and the swing speed was a little different so I think there is an equation in there somewhere that effects swing speed based on the weight. Can't believe that simply stats are still not implemented (you would think it would be a simple fix). My question is do you plan on posting updated videos when(if) bannerlord full releases as many perks and similar number buffs/debuff werent working when the video was made? Not necessarily on this topic both on previous videos.

    • @Strat-Guides
      @Strat-Guides  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I was real hesitant to make this video a tier list, but I figured I have not made one yet and wanted to see how the video does. I feel like tier list type videos always do better than non-tier lists. My biggest issue is that you can make 10 different lists depending on what the goals of the campaign are. For example, a tier list for king, one for a vassal, one for the Joker build, they are all very different!

    hearth bonuses cap out, but until then it is critical to raise it as quickly as possible as it is the most important stat for a village (higher garrison, income, production, food bonus to attached castle/town, patrol size, villager convoy size, and i think it affects recruitment as well). so eventually the hit to hearth growth doesn't matter, and if you have a big clan and can keep your people from sacking villages before you take them then the expansion could have maxed out villages that don't need hearth growth later in the game. this is very situational, either it is a policy that costs nothing or its cost is huge.

    • @Strat-Guides
      @Strat-Guides  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In all fairness, if you're taking fiefs at that pace then hearth growth is pointless because you're making so much money even if fiefs are making 0 denars. I think it's incredibly important for people who want a slower-paced game or maybe they want to play as a vassal (since the AI rarely conquers anything). But until you get to 600, you're right that it's very important to have. In my governor build guide I made a companion specifically to get the 3x +20% hearth growth perks just for this :)

    • @jamoecw
      @jamoecw 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Strat-Guides it is more the production, food bonus and recruitment, the income is the least beneficial thing about hearth bonuses. more production means better stuff in the market, which can help with feeding the town as well as helping to get you the highest tier stuff in the game. more food means more troops in the garrison, and thus less times running off to save your town (castles are not defensible due to prosperity eating your food). more and better recruitment means it is easier for you and your faction to replace troop losses. aside from income the other bonuses help fend off looters and bandits, leaving you free to conquer more territory, but if they had to be babysat no matter what one would probably let them die and go off anyway, so it is more of a nice thing than a serious benefit.

    Citizenship is weird, it actually reduces loyalty for any settlement owned by a lord that has a different culture than the king, so if the king is Battanian and a Vlandian lord owns Sargot then Sargot will lose loyalty, but if the Vlandian town is owned by a Battanian lord it will gain loyalty, this means if you have any lords that are not the same culture as you, then all their fiefs will lose loyalty no matter if the town they own matches their culture.
    If you take citizenship try to keep your lords the same culture as you.

    food for a castle is the most important thing since you can only raise it indirectly, and only so much. an extra 2 food is (if i remember correctly) an extra 40 troops, and if you are the king with other policies that raise influence for you then you should have plenty of influence to spare while small enough to have to actually hold castles (once you can take towns you should stop holding castles and give them to the AI). it isn't a bad policy while you are just starting as a kingdom and don't have many if any nobles under you, though you might just skip owning castles and then this policy is worthless. i haven't tested if you need to own the castle itself alongside the town for the Vlandian buff (castle village production) or if the owner of the castle simply needs to be Vlandian, but that might be the only reason to hold castles later in the game, and this policy can be good for holding castles, though i am unsure how useful the extra 40 troops will be later on when it sits well away from the front lines (an extra 40 troops just means that the enemy bring an extra 80-120 troops to siege it). though anything that buffs owning castles ends up kinda shitty later on in the game since castles suck for the player to own.

    • @Strat-Guides
      @Strat-Guides  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would be much happier if TW tweaked some of these policies so that they have different effects for different fiefs. For example, maybe give 5 food to a castle and 15 to a town would be appropriate. 2 food is just too small for me to recommend and my main goal here (since I know TW watches my videos and patches stuff that get a lot of negative feedback on lol) is to get them a bit more balanced. They could even split them into Town only policies and Castle only policies if they wanted to do that?

    • @Strat-Guides

      I don't think they meant for the bonus to apply to towns as well. If it's just for castles, I can understand it a little more but you're right, nothing to offset it like all the other policies! • @kopazwashere
      @kopazwashere 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Strat-Guides It would be kinda interesting to see what debuff they would add. My logical debuff to that would be slightly decreased militia for castles, Realistically, how that perk would work is you would use militia troop as cheap labor without insurance benefits. >:)
      Then again, the perk would theoretically become useless if all castle/town fiefs are maxed out i.e. construction cost buff doesnt matter, but debuff still applies - which would make the perk down to an F tier.
      Edit: Perhaps it could also be loyalty debuff to the castle since it will most likely be using your peasants from bound village as cheap labor.

  • @abseits_ger7274
    @abseits_ger7274 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Interesting to see what works and which effects don't. Other than that 2 of my personal S-tier are listed E and F for you, strat. Alright try to guess which policies I mean first.... or just read on for the reasoning behind it.
    The policies I'm talking about are:
    1 Road tolls
    2 war tax
    3 crown duty
    Yes, this is not a joke but the more negative Prosperity per day, the better. Why? Hmmm. I'll explain
    The game has a ... uh... certain prosperity-food-garrison problem starving garrisons when prosperity rises also leaving the fief vulnerable while the grannery is empty...... uh yeah, that sucks.
    These 3 policies ( and cheat mode activation just to demolish this damn aqueduct) reduce the prosperity gain.
    1 food surplus production equals to 0.1 prosperity gain per day. 20 troops in the garrison eat 1 food per day. Also these policies allow fiefs to stay stable, as prosperity will stop rising at a certain point and therefore not increase food costs while still having a surplus food production (up to 22 daily food surplus without a garrison)
    Talking about garrison, it's exactly as you think. This enables stable 400 troop garrisons (which especially those of you using improved garrison mod will like) 2.2 negative equals 22 food equals 440 troops, leaving a tiny bit of it to keep foodstocks very slowly rising once prosperity comes to a standstill.
    Also grazing rights is total poop to me as it decreases hearths growth, which is just about the worst thing to do in the long run. Hearths in villages grant militia production, militia numbers at some point make it impossible for parties to raid villages as the party leaders respect the numbers at some point to not raid and armies do never raid villages. Therefore villages are sooner safe income sources. This grazing right malus becomes more significant the higher the hearths are as the base production decreases with number. Modifiers are not affected.
    Edit: I also forgot to mention the re recruiting cost of auto replenishing garrisons whenever they starve out and recover again. For the okayer this isn't significant but for the AI it is. These policies also help the AI stabilize their garrisons (especially since they never hit 400 garrisons anyway) and will always have a positive food production.

    • @Strat-Guides
      @Strat-Guides  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting, it's a good point! You can artificially lower the prosperity by putting a larger garrison than you plan to use as well. The whole equilibrium point for prosperity and food is an odd one since it's a "feature" that fiefs will starve once they reach the EQ point. I feel like they should have had some sort of offset so that being at EQ doesn't feel like a punishment. It's a very strange system, seemingly made by someone proficient with math and programming but not aware of how it would be perceived IRL lol. I mean, starvation is technically a valid approach to population control, however I'm not sure that's what their intention was.

Or the whole food and quartermaster thing. If I am feeding 2000 troops in my entire army do I get the full xp? How about the movement speeds from different perks and even the perks that change disorganized state duration, how does that work for other parties? What about sacrificing troops with tactics skills and the lvl125 perk? Does the Army leader decide for themselves or does each individual party contribute by their own? How accurate is this list in april 2024? Are those policies still broken?

    You are not right at all. Debaff policies is very usable: when u start as vassal u can vote for these policy and quit kingdom))

      Yeah that's the problem with Tier lists is they tend to be a bit linear, but with a complex game like Bannerlord there are many ways to approach it. Thanks for watching!

    It's insane how many bugs this game has in skills/perks/policies etc, despite it being out for 2 year in EA and being pretty much a clone of the old game. I wonder what the hell the devs have been doing in that time. These bugs are not hard to find and fix. I guess that is what you get with a 1 man dev team :P

    Good to know, but at clan tier 3 and owning a town I wonder how far the playthrough can go as an independent without policies. With the broken ones in the players favor, when fixed, would be nice if TW allows us to re pick and not be stuck with a result of their programming. I'm impressed with your videos and how many things you answer with real input. I have only one complete playthrough, and a few partials due to "broken game" syndrome. Hopefully 1.8 will be better.

      The nice thing about being independent is that nobody will bother you and you can sue for peace quickly. Thank you! I always put the most emphasis on the data and analysis so hopefully these can be useful :) 1.8 has been pretty good! Although I think they are gearing up for full release later this year so I'm really looking forward to seeing what they have in store.

      Lol thank you! I was trying to so hard to make this video not boring because testing 35 perks one by one was tedious!

    Found banner lords a few months back and really love your guides on this game and watching some of your old steams as well :)
    One Question did TW fix Citizenship yet?

    What an odd feature. I hope they will expand it someday so we will be able to develop our kingdom for years, instead of having all policies in a few months :D

      I'm pretty sure they were saving this one until the end. I'll redo this video once they patch it! :)

    I wonder if they really will be patched. Have any been patched yet? Having policies not work may be unintentionally realistic, since policies in real life don't always play out as expected.
